Extract content from Xref file

Typical case scenario : I am working with a survey referenced and I need to import the boundaries of my site. Instead of going back and forth to the Xref file or manually tracing over it I wish we could have something Select Similar Tool extended to the content of the Xref file. And the possibility to activate the content of referenced file so it interact with current geometry (like the ability to use Inner/outer Boundary Mode on Xref). -
I have a 3D model from which I have generated a series of section viewports on sheet layers. Is it possible for me to reference these sheet layer viewports into the design layer of another file? (I know I could do this if I'd generated design layer sections, but I will potentially update the model so I'd like to keep the link.) I have a Landmark 2014 licence.

Hi All, I am using ref files in a drawing. I closed the file and after reopening it today have found all of the ref files are ghosted. We have figured out that the refs were on the none layer and the none class has disappeared and currently the refs do not exist on any layer. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance.
