  1. HI all So I have a sparse worksheet (most cells are empty), and all I want to do is count the filled cells in the columns i.e. I just want a cell at each column base that says 7, 9, 3, 15 etc. As in the mockup image encl. I'm on Windows 2012 if it matters. Active cell contents are calculations from other cells, and sometimes manually entered numbers, and in case it matters the function in a cell looks like this. But Ideally I'd also like to be able to count plain text-filled cells later on. =(INT((K$7*$D$5*$A$30)/5)*5)+5
  2. Hello, Is there any chance to report in worksheet database length of structural member. Simple column type member or straight horizontal member.... There is for structural m. property: 'lenght'... when added to worksheet it changes to: ='StructuralMember'.'CenterPointLength'...but doesnt report lenght value. I know we dont have lenght field in OIP for structural member ... but one would expect that such a basic property of member can be easily available and reportable. Or am I am missing something obvious? would welcome if there is at least some math calculation alternative to be able report lenght value in worksheet or data tag as well. Since introduction of material resource we abandoned framing member but we feel that this tool is not really fully developed... Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi folks, I would like to be able to 1) create a worksheet (vs.CreateWS) 2) create a report (?) 3) set/edit the report criteria (?) using VectorScript or Python/Marionette For neither 2 or 3 was I able to find a corresponding VS command in the developer wiki: https://developer.vectorworks.net/index.php?title=Category:VS_Function_Reference:Worksheets&pageuntil=SetWSCellFormula VS%3ASetWSCellFormula#mw-pages Does anybody have an idea if there is a way to accomplish this? Hi All, Perhaps an obvious question, or may be not.. but is there an easy way to summarise and view all the objects in my drawing so that I can make sure everything is in the correct class or on the right layer. As a VW newbie I have found myself drawing objects onto the wrong active design layer or creating objects in the wrong class. Sometimes I spot it at the time, or make a note to myself to correct it later. I know. Discipline! Some examples: Walls and doors should be in walls and doors classes (and only on certain layers) Televisions should be in an AV-TVs class and on the AV-Equipment Loudspeakers should be in the AV-Loudspeakers class on the AV-Equipment layer I only expect polylines in my audio zoning layers I was wondering if there was some means of checking things over via a worksheet for example and possibly correcting them from the worksheet too, perhaps. Spotting the things that are clearly out of place? TIA Ross.

Hi, Is anybody also experiencing cells with wrap text on not to adjust and stretch (only one line of text is visible while others are cut of) to accommodate longer texts pieces even though height for row is set to 'auto fit row height'? I would normally need cell to accommodate 2-3 line of the text. I wonder if this misbehaving is caused by adjacent cells (in horizontal direction) in merged state....? See attachment (cells in orange outline). Mind you on screenshot is fixed state. Wanted to show cell structure. So far my fix is forcing cell to stretch to specific height so that all text fits in. Another issue is that even if I manage to fit text by enlarging row height (when worksheet is opened) it sometimes wont reflect that on worksheet when in not editing mode...just placed somewhere in drawing. Any idea in this issue. It is really tedious process to correct row heights when in one file i have easily 30 worksheets with same setup and each worksheet with ten rows to correct... Hello, Recently I came across this useful script (made by @Pat Stanford) and I would really like to use it as a way to replace outdated layer name in criteria for many my spreadsheet cells within one worksheet. Can this script work with multiple cells selected, or it only function with one cell at the time? And is there around maybe updated version of script to more recent software versions? Thanks.   7. Hi all, 2 questions: A: I`m wondering if it is possible to get Renderworks textures in an worksheet with an image of the texture. The idea is to create elevations with data tags which refer to a worksheet for the: material, texture, color, ... B: Is it possible to get the name of the chosen color fill in a data tag?
  8. I use object names often when I want to do a worksheet of areas, with each names object having a corresponding name in the worksheet to identify it. Is there a way that I can parse/read an object Name (e.g. D [ =AREA(N='D') ] in in D5 in image encl) and have another cell read and show/display/print that name? It sure would save a lot of double entry and avoid errors. I do not see a function enabling reading (in vw 2012) characters.
  9. Hello vectorworks community, I wonder how to achieve something like this: Have one symbol that its text parts are linked to one record format fields. It act as a container for storing of informations about any specific project that somebody in office was working on. Its about logging working time on daily bases...filling calendar. Informations consist of: Project ID, tasks worked on, time spent on working task, drawn by etc. Now I want to collect data through worksheet database particularly overall time spent on specific project for specific project phase. I wish I could type into one designated cell within worksheet field value (Project ID) and that way control criteria of database results. So the results show only items (symbols) where same Project ID is checked. Then whenever I need to type in different Project ID and get different results. Everything happening in one worksheet. I see that in some Preformated Reports materials quantity - take off you can type name of material directly into database header and get quantity of that material...yeah this is something closer...but i wish to have one cell apart of database where i could type in Project ID and control one database or even few databases (differ by project phase for specific project) results same time. Any idea how to achieve something like this. Is it at all possible? Thanks a lot for any input.
  10. Can a column in a worksheet be re-formated to display another dimension standard? USE: My file is in imperial (ft/in) I'm working on a worksheet for some LED video walls. I am pulling the module width and height fields. I'd like the worksheet to read 500mm, not 1'7 11/16" (The short answer is to finally get America on the metric system so this isn't an issue...)
  11. Anyone having difficulty to list in database worksheet materials that are part of wall or roof style components? I am able to generate list of <any> is present materia just those that are part of slab styles....? Any idea? Thanks.

  14. Sometimes worksheets will disappear from a sheet layer. There is nothing hiding them, their classes and layers are on, but they will not display. When I open the sheet, the worksheets flicker briefly, then disappear. The only (bad) solution seems to be a restart of VectorWorks. Does anyone have a better way to make them appear, and if so will it stop them from disappearing again? Restarting Vectorworks is not a fast process! iMac 27", 40 GB RAM, Mac OS 10.15.6 (and earlier). This is a continuing issue from vwx 2020.
  15. Is there a way to summarise items / sort items in a worksheet in which the data is imported from an excel spreadsheet, rather than created from the drawing as a database? When I'm trying this, the sort / summarise / sum items all appear to be greyed out.
  16. Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to make a two way worksheet? I want to be able to Edit my record from the work sheet just like how I can edit the Worksheet from my record. Attached is an example of my file with the description field being the only field I want to be able to do this to. The text is already linked to the record I just cannot figure out how to edit the worksheet and type directly into it thank you in advance for the feedback.   17. To multiply, the formula should be =SUM(cell1*cell2) but when I press enter, nothing happens How do I properly multiply two cells in a Vectorworks worksheet? To add, the formula should be =SUM(cell1,cell2), when I do that it works
  18. Hello all I am new to worksheets and have been following a tutorial to set one up for building takeoffs of my project. I have started with the walls and have been able to create the worksheet with no issue except when I try to summarize the walls based on wall type. When hit summarize all of the data no longer shows, so it doesn't provide a Toal wall length or area for the summarized wall type. See the attached images below Does anyone have any idea what step I am missing? Thank you
  19. Hello community, I wonder is there a way to rename multiple database row criteria (using same object style name) in same worksheet in one action? As you can see in attachment, I have a structure of wall (can be slab, roof..) with 10 components, but each component is directed to the same style name OP02. If i want to list all components for lets say different wall style with name OP03 I have to go to change it 10 times in database criteria...and thats tedious. Also I dont want to have preformatted worksheet for 10 - 20 different wall/slab/roof style in one building. So any thought or put it other way is there a better criteria approach for calling components with simpler criteria setup? Maybe script would do it? Thanks for help.
  20. it may be a banal question but is there a way to insert a column in worksheet at the right end as opposed before last col on the right? I know the instructions: To add columns to the right side of the worksheet, click and drag the bottom right corner of the worksheet - it makes no sense, clicking and dragging resizes the worksheet window
  21. I have had trouble editing room finishes through worksheets for spaces with Space Style. Even all the Room Finishes are by instance, whenever I attempt to change the finish using dropdown, I get a message: "One or more objects could not be updated because the selected parameter is defined by the object style". The fields are not grayed out as it would be if it was by style. If I make the space unstyled, I have no trouble changing the finishes in the worksheet. If I check "Hide Style Parameters" in Object Info Palette the option to to edit Room Finishes disappears, even when all the parameters are by instance. If I update the Space Style all the applied finishes of all the spaces that has the style turns into the default finishes (or disappear) I believe there are some issues with the overall Room Finishes by style/by instance setting, as there is no place in the Space Settings one can define it. I guess, it assumes that in all the styled spaces Roof Finishes are by style in default and overrides other "sub-properties" I can easily edit the finishes through Space Settings for the styled Spaces, but the problem that I have to go to my 100 spaces and do it room by room. Then, when I have spent several hours editing finishes to individual spaces and all looked good, for whatever reason I decided to update the Space Style, all my work was gone - all the finishes turned into the default Space Style Room Finishes. My conclusion - I can't use Space Styles for rooms with different finishes. Let me know if I have missed out something in the settings. Spece Finishes Test File.vwx
  22. I'm still using 2012 which some folk think is old but it works. From the forums it looks like the basics are being ignored with lots of Baroque 'features' added. So I'm thinking long and hard before I upgrade. No bells and whistles just the daily needs of a landscape professional. Things I'd need to make upgrading worthwhile considering: Worksheet (I hear this might be in 2020 but not confirmed) - two-way excel red\write - or at least read from live excel file - ability for cells to read colour info from classes including alpha level - cell commenting like excel - full keyboard fcn shortcuts for all actions - like Excel - ability to export xls files - ability to read text (from csv txt md mdown xls) into worksheet cells - worksheet access to text blocks and vice-versa Simplified arraying - even circular arrays are a real trial, just something simple like ACAD and Sketchup. MS Word, a real working live link from VW to word, or least to a text file. Keyboard access to rotation in object info. Image file export - Has this been improved?, e.g. for image export of non-standard size, in 2012 it was Alt F E R and the image default settings are jpeg 2000 and marquee, image filetype can't be changed in marquee so click to another Export Area type and back to format to change that and then back to reset to marquee, then draw marquee (would be great to have dropdown of remembered marquee draw boxes) and finally save. - What new files are enabled? Can the default filetype and format be changed? - Also seeing as Nemet think VW is a GIS what about being able to read height data from .tiffs?? Property Line \ Landscape subdivision lot module - full control of annotations - topolological polygon editing \ autoupdate of adjacent polygons. Text formatting; kerning, easier handling of mixed formats in a single text block. Ability of system to retain focus on a text block - I'm a non-touch typist and often look up and see I'm no longer in the txt dialog. Plantline lines like Acad had 20 years ago where basic line is drawn and output can be changed at will - makes for much smaller file sizes too. Has the snap-to-all fcn been removed? Alpha \ opacity control for gradients allowing one to have a gradient that fades out to 100% alpha\transparent (a very basic part of GIS's and R). Very useful to show graded actions on plans such as planting densities. Layers and classes - has there been any integration between these? If Classes are truly sub to Layers why can they not all be on same panel? Big time savings potential. Support for old vw formats including .mcd. AFAIK Acad goes all the way back, why not VW?? ------------------------------------ Nice to have: Colour palette referencing has been awful - has it been improved? Having to remember where a colour is as you move around the interface is just silly. Ability to filter exploded pdfs by shape and class them automatically. How is reading of live data feeds, especially GNSS \ total-station data? Printing Having saved views in batch print is annoying and wastes time. Is it still like this? Digital file export with all referenced files - like old Acad pack'n'go Inclusion of a duplicate \ overlying polygon tool.
  23. I'm working on a door worksheet, and I wonder if there is some formula to count L&R Doors. I assigned a custom record to each door, with boolean parameters (one for left and other for right). Now my worksheet do the work, but I think it can improve avoiding repeated information. Perhaps I can use the function =count, with the conditional If for the record, something like this: =COUNT (If record is 'carpinterias' and value 'izquierda' is true). Is that possible? thanks in advance.

Hello, I would like to create a worksheet database whose criteria are "select all walls with the Pset_WallCommon IFC value Reference IWS-1** because here is the wall style Mark I want to use to divide my walls I tried the string =DATABASE((('Pset_WallCommon'.'Reference')='IWS-1**')) but it gives me no results, like it cannot read the IFC property When I use that field in a spreadsheet it requires the string =GETIFCPROPERTY(‘Pset_WallCommon’.’Reference’) so maybe I need to recall the IFC property some way? I tried some variants but nothing worked, can someone help me? Thank you very much
  25. A worksheet created in 2016 seemed to become partly dysfunctional when opened in 2020. A function with the same basic structure, but returning different values from the fields of a record format, was used to display text in several columns of one database header. Column A ='Outline Schedule of Works'.'Work Sub-Category' Column B ='Outline Schedule of Works'.'Location' etc It worked fine in all but one column of the database header. Despite the structure being identical to the other columns. When a neighbouring function was pasted into the failing column it too became dysfunctional, returning only itself in the sub-rows. Simple fix:- delete the column. Add a new one in the same place. Formula then worked correctly.
