  1. Hi All, Is anyone aware of a quick, clear and easy way to display wall orientation on drawings? We have a set of about 20 GA plans, walls drawn using the wall tool and correctly set up with wall styles. The Contractor has asked us to show clearly on our plans which orientation the walls are in (for instance; a wall which looks in plan identical on both sides, but one side is moisture resistant plasterboard and the other is not). Any tips or workarounds also appreciated, anything that saves us going around and manually drawing a mark on the side of ever wall.. Thanks! A
  2. Does anyone know of any good tutorials for creating a wall sconces or pendant light fixtures that renders properly? Thank you.
  3. Hi, I'm trying to create some simple massing models with gable ends. I have created a custom roof by editing the massing model. With the 'fit walls to roof' command unavailable, I have chosen the option to show the gable wall in the roof in the roof design preferences. This seems to have a set back from the wall and create a ledge. There doesn't't appear to be a way of setting the massing model wall thickness and when changing the gable wall thickness, it only sets the wall further back into the roof leaving the ledge. When looking straight on at the model, there also seems to be a physical gap between the top of the massing model wall and the gable wall. If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be much appreciated. James
  4. Hi, I attach a wall that has a wall feature attached to it. The wall has two components, one of the components (the brick cladding), has an offset relative to the wall of - 50 cm I'd like the wrapping of the feature component be done by the brick cladding but at the correct height. Is this possible? I tag @Alan Woodwell and @Matt Panzer as you both seem to know very well the wall tools. I would appreciate very much a hand!! Wall Projection and Component Wrap.vwx
  5. Hi, I've been trying to solve this for a while now but i can't. Maybe someone can give me a hand. When I activate the caps of my wall, it caps both components with black. I'd Like the grey component to be also capped with grey. Thanks in advance
  6. The Wall Data Cost Index System and Cost Index Code are mapped to ifc fields Classification.Name and Classification.Item Reference respectively. They don't import into Solibri - at least I can't find them in Solibri info palette Classification tab where I would expect to find them. Am I missing something here?
  7. Hello All, Every time I select a single wall object, I get eternal rainbow wheel / application not responding and I have to force quit. If I marquee-select two or more walls, it's fine. Or if I marquee-select one wall and any other object, it's fine. But click-selecting one individual wall crashes me every time, no matter the file (even the extremely simple file uploaded below). -Yesterday I un-installed and re-installed VWX 2019 (so Vectorworks is up to date, with all service packs installed) -Mojave is up to date (osx 10.14.2, see attached system info) I understand that most of the bugs are Apple bugs and not VWX bugs. But even after this upgrade yesterday, I'm still having the same problem. And I'm not seeing any threads on here discussing it. Any ideas? Thanks, Brandon VWX test file.vwx iMac - B. 8. Hi, Would be great if the Pillar tool could accept left and right textures. I think the Pillar tool is a superior tool when compared to the wall projection tool. The projection tool always causes issues when the projection reaches the ends of walls. The Pillar tool works great always. You can join walls from everywhere and it works. Maybe even rename the Pillar tool to Irregular Wall or something like that because thats the way it works best.
  9. Working on a 1 1/2 storey house - some walls clipped to the underside of the roof and others will not, no matter what I seem to try. there are the main peaked roofs with gable ends and windows, which I created as walls with windows, and there are peaked and shed dormers as well, which I also did the same way. (mainly because I am not that proficient). The upper corners of the walls stick out past the roof, and in the gables there is a gap above the wall to the top underside of the peak. I can't even fake a presentation with 2D annotations, without a ton of work. I have a feeling it's in the wall or roof settings but ??? I work with layer wall heights and layer elevations, etc and not stories. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks. roof wall clipping problem.pdf
  10. Hi there, in Vectorworks fundamentals 2019 architecture objects like walls, roofs... are not included anymore. I wonder how vectorscripts will behave that contain architectural procedures. Will such scripts run with a fundamentals version anymore? If yes, will such scripts run in the future? Thanks so far
  11. Hi All, It would be useful if it was much clearer which side of a wall is inside/outside/left/right. Whenever replacing a wall with a new wall style for instance, I've been adopting the trial an error approach. I know the wall when selected shows a tiny arrow on one end, but often this is obscured or out of view. Also (more importantly), this is not displayed if you have more than one piece of wall selected. So the typical workflow of selecting a bunch of walls to update/replace, guess a side to align, get it wrong, undo, redo, select opposite side align. Whilst I'm on it, a marker showing 'inside' and 'outside' of window objects when selected would also be handy.
  12. Hello everyone, I'm just trying to set a cup of wall/roof details. I have 2 questions 1) between roof and wall components VW allows us to set the connection between a specified roof component and a part of a wall. But sometimes I need to set a roof component between a specified wall component not detectable with the wall style components options. In fact, if I have more than 3 wall components (internal, main component, external) I can't select a specific option. 2) if I need to decide the visualization order of component inside a wall or a roof, how can I do this? Thank you and a good work Z Componenti_tetto.vwx
  13. Hey Guys, I'm having issues with my section viewport where a line from the a slab object is showing through a wall. In the attached images, I've circled the three instances where a line appears where it should not. I have tried moving the slab far beyond the wall, but the line still displays. The line disappears when I delete the slab object and update the viewport. The strange thing is, when I pull the clip cube away from the building for an elevation, the lines disappear. Let me know what you guys think the issue is. Thanks, Raymond
  14. Specifically in Italy and in rest of Europe is a very import issue to have thickness wall control. Every architect that comes from 2D draw and need to improvement the workflow switching to BIM ask us: "how can I create a variable thickness wall?". How about add this improvement to next vectorworks versions? Thanks
  15. Hi, I have this single layer wall (100 mm). The wall has its color, fill etc. attributes from a class. In this class, I have drawn my own tile, as I use as the fill. This works great when I do a section view in the wall and looking from the front. So far so good. But now I want to have a section view looking from the top, and in this section I dont want the same fill in the wall. Is there a way to have 2 different fills for a wall, maybe controlled by two different classes or maybe something else.
  16. Hi, Is it possible to give a wall different colors/textures on the same component? I have a 10 meter long wall, that i like to give 3 different colors. the first 2 meter in red, 2 m eter in green and 6 m in blue. Is this possible on the same wall?
  17. Hi, I have a question regarding wall stacking. (I am new to vectorworks, so maybe is it stupid) I have this two walls on top of eat other. The walls has two different wall styles and are on two different layers. The top layer has a elevation, that matches the height of the lower wall. The question is, when i edit the value of the top wall length, it changes to the correct length. But if I drag in the wall to get it longer, it removes the lower wall? So I can change the upper walls length by value, but not by dragging. How can this be, and what can I do to avoid this? See my attached test file Test_.vwx
  18. Would be great if one could also see the wall start mark when looking at a wall in axonometric or perspective views, not only in TOP/PLAN view. Look at the images attached, you can only see the wall start mark in the TOP/PLAN view... Hope this gets implemented soon!
  19. I use a 4" high outer component to a wall as a base which I show in 3D but not in 2D using class visibility. When I turn on the "hide details" toggle in 2D the wall does not respect the width of the wall with the base class turned off. I suspect this is by design as the graphic is likely for the entire wall but it is not expected.

  21. It would be nice that when one uses Fit Walls to Objects beneath a staircase the wall properly follows the bottom of the staircase. The only way to model this properly is to create a wall recess or wall projection. You can see better what I mean in the screenshot. The wall "fits" with it's center but the top of the wall does not fit parallel to the bottom of the staircase.
  22. Please, Vectorworks, how this option is still missing, when you use the Exterior Wall detail option in the windows It just works in Top/Plan view But when you switch to Perspective we have this, why?

    Tiles

Hi there, What is the best way to apply tiles on wall? Make a renderworks texture and apply it on the wall? I mean if I do that, then tiles will be all over wall (and I would like to have tiles only in bathroom). Or should I make a plane, extrude it, and then apply it ( attached print screen ). I would appreciate your help. And if you had any good links to tutorials, please share with me. Thanks a lot for help, good guys! Alice
  24. It may very useful to be able to handle the thickness and inclination of the walls and its component freely. We European users feel very much the need to have more freedom in the drawing of the walls.
  25. Hello everyone, if i need to project correctly a wood house, actually i can't.. off course i would like to see all the components, in 3 dimension etc. Could be enough if it were possibile to set every single component of the wall like a frame or a panel. We could have 3 choices: standard wall, courtain wall and.. Superwall! In a superwall every component can be set like a frame or panel, and so the user can create correctly a complete house structure all made in wood. Sounds it good? Bye!
