Data not Aligning in custom title blocks

Hello, I have another issue today. We have a custom title block for our company and it has worked great until now. For some reason the Issue data no longer lines up when there is more than one line in the :iNote. Previously we had :iNo, :iAppr and :iDate aligned vertically se to top and :iNote set to bottom. this worked great the note worked up to the top of the rest. Now it doesn't seem to read the issue data as a group of data, just as individual text boxes. Which means if there is more than one line of text in the :iNote we get an offset between the lines. I have attached the before and after screen grabs for reference. If anybody know a reason why this might be happening it would be great to hear from you. Many Thanks James By the way I have tried making a brand new symbol that hasn't been converted from VW2016 and it still seems to be happening.

Viewports showing items outside of crop

Hello, I was wondering whether anybody else has been having issues with design layer/reference viewports after converting 2016 to 2017. We have a set of drawings where the crop is not working. As we zoom in we can see the other objects outside of the crop. (see screen grab) This happens whether we are using the existing crop or a new crop. I have tried using different classes etc.. but this doesn't seem to help. If you have any ideas it would be gratefully appreciated. Many Thanks James

  4. I use VW Architect in a small design office where we are often project sharing with large files. Using iMacs and a Mac mini server, VW2017. 600MB connection to both server and internet. We've had a lot of problems with crashes when we keep the project file on our server when committing changes. We solved this by using dropbox instead. Although there is an added lag time going through the off-site dropbox server, we aren't getting the crashes as the committed changes happen on our local machine before being uploaded. We're thinking of implementing this throughout the office, but before we signup for dropbox business, etc. I wanted to ask if anyone else has reached a similar conclusion, or if anyone has experience of dropbox project sharing and could offer some pros and cons. Would appreciate any advice, thanks.
  5. Looks like Nemetschek have bought dRofus. Certainly looks like a good thing from the list of functions.... http://www.drofus.no/en/product.html Anyone used it with (or without) Vectorworks? Be interesting to see how well it suites with VW2017.
  6. I'm working on building a template file for my firm, and I'm trying to improve our class organization. I've set up a custom naming scheme to use with Auto-Classing, but I'd like to have all of the classes listed in the appropriate column of the "ClassNameStds" worksheet created in the file. Is there a way to do this, or do I have to manually create every class? My goal here is to provide a wide variety of sensibly named classes so that users aren't running around creating lots of additional classes. These classes will all be preset with reasonable lineweights to minimize the amount of post-processing in our viewports (which is currently a lot). I hope that question makes sense. The help documentation and tip videos on auto-classing are ok, but they don't really address this.

    VW2017 file unresponsive

I’ve got a vectorworks file that’s become very unresponsive/ pretty much unusable. It’s 151mb – is that just too big? It's only one floor so no complex stories or layers going on. It’s a 3d model with some renderworks textures, 3d objects (as symbols), and lighting, but even with these classes turned off it makes no difference. It was created in VW2016 originally but I’ve recently set up viewports on about 10 sheets using the ‘create interior elevation viewport’ .There’s about 30 sheet layers – is that too many for one file? What's the most efficient way of working out what is slowing it down so much? Suggestions appreciated so I can get drawings out from this file later in the week!

VW2017 section viewports very slow to update

I've generated internal elevations using interior elevation tool, which I've used successfully numerous times to date, but time they're seriously slow to update, ie. over 10 minutes for 12 very basic '1:50' level of detail elevations on one sheet. I noticed lighting was turned on, turned that off but hasn't made any difference. Also, have set the view depth box to just outside the elevations. File is quite tidy as I've just been through it and taken lots of complex stuff out. Any advice appreciated...

VW2017 web view sharing with clients

Just found a nice and easy way to present web view links rather than sending the long email link web view generates to clients... if you create an image (say, a still from your 3d model), paste it into an email and then add a hyperlink to the image. I guess pretty obvious in hindsight, but I'm pretty pleased with the result so felt the urge to share!

    VW2017 BIM 'objects' import

Any advice over 'best' file format to use to bring objects (furniture and sanitaryware in this particular case) into VW2017. Of the manufacturers I'd like to use, Revit families are most popular, & skp, and some ifc's. I created some from a manufacturer's 3d dwg's (Morgan furniture), looked perfect but there was something in them that VW just didn't seem to like. Successful methodologies/ hints/ tips for creating good quality VW models from manufacturer's models most effectively (ie. with minimum of re-modelling & time) from other file formats would be appreciated.

VW2017 Attributes Palette window resizing bug

Hello, when I resize the attribute palette ; it crop a part of the palette simultaneously as it resize the text and the boxes (seems to be proportional). then you have no access to the hidden part of the palette. I cannot scroll up or down. for example, I have reduced the size of the palette from the top ; then it has cropped a part of the top. and then I tried to increase the lowest part ; it just generated some white part bellow the palette. see picture joined. Is it linked to my config ? to Mac Os config ? to some config error in my VW config ? thanks PS I am using VW2017 on Mac OS 10.11.6.
  13. Now that I have had a chance to thoroughly work with the new resource manager, I can offer my 2 cents. I am one, that likes to keep my resources organized and although the new Resource Manager improved in many ways, keeping things organized is not one of them. So the new way got me use to having all my resources being shown all mixed in one spot. Textures, symbols, line types, etc..... I like this. But then the UI breaks away in a different direction which makes no sense at all. If I want to make a folder called "plumbing" and I want to store my Textures, symbols, line types, etc.... in it, I can't. I must make a Plumbing Textures folder, a Plumbing Symbol folder, etc. Why do I have to select what kind of folder it has to be? Why can't it be just called "new folder" where I can organize things as I please. Like I said, the root folder allows shared resource types which trains you the work a certain way, why change this in subfolders? The next issue I have (which is not new to this resource manger) is when you import a resource from another file (our resources libraries). If you right click a resource and select the import menu, you get a dialog that allows you to "preserve folder hierarchy". This is great for those of us who like to keep things organized in subfolders. The problem is, this only works when you do it that one way. Who in the world wants to right click, hunt through a menu to find import, get a dialog box, press okay every time they select a resource. The "Preserve Folder Hierarchy" toggle should be an option that we select in either the preferences or document preferences and be the default action no matter how you import the resource (most common way is double clicking). If you want to override your setting, then you can use the import menu. Edit: One more minor issue. The toggle buttons of which resource source gets reset after every restart. It would be nice if these toggles stick. I only want to see the bare minimum when I'm working and I'm constantly having to shut these things off.
  14. Hi all A question for you, I'm running OSX 10.9.5 and just downloaded VW2017. It will not install on 10.9.5 so I need to upgrade to 10.10 or higher (at this point it looks like my only option is 10.11). For me this sets off a domino effect which brings my existing video card into question. I was looking the Saphire HD7950 as a replacement, not many cards are compatible with my older mac pro 5.1. Is anyone using this card or knows if VW works well with it? https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Sapphire/100352MAC2/#owctabs PS Looking forward to playing with this new version. Thanks
