  1. Hello, I have difficulty to correctly export/print a sheet with viewports (section viewports) that have same data visualization applied. Some print correct some not. On screen everything looks OK but on exported/printed PDF something goes wrong and some viewports render without DV applied partially or completely. I have tested type of DV settings: one (DV01 - red fills) based on class function and other based on material function (DV02-black solid fill) but no difference. When no DV is applied everything works fine. It looks that viewports that dont export correctly are same for all scenarios... Any idea?
  2. I would like to be able to customise the Default Crop Object in the Viewport and have it show up customised right from when opening the Viewport, rather than having to change it manually again and again. Every time I go into a Viewport to add a Crop Object to my Design Layer by the steps below - it shows a thick green outline: Double Click on a Viewport --> Design Layer --> "ADD REFERENCE CROP OBJECT" Now I know I can place it into a CLASS. But still I would need to add the Crop Object every single time to a Class. Which if you have hundreds of Viewports is rather time consuming.
  3. If I create a cut through a viewport (I don't know the English term for this) I can select to use a drawing label. This drawing label is not how I want it to be, so every time I have to adjust it. Now I've made a symbol of the drawing label the way I wan't it to be. And place this in my viewports. But is there a way to place the drawing label automatically the way I want it to?
  4. Hey all, I have Vectorworks 2020, when I export DWG & re-import I've noticed my dimensions & drawing number info are outside the viewport and are on the sheets, as groups. Is there a way to solve this issue? Thank you Olivia
  5. Hi, I have used the LED screen tool to create several screens and I have now made a plan viewport but I don't want the green loci to appear. How do I hide the green loci? Thanks
  6. I recently learned how to use both the sectional viewport tool and the Helidon tool in Vectorworks. I have created a 3D model for my university project that is based in Italy, I enabled shadows for the OpenGL rendering option, I was wondering is there a have the shadows come up whilst using 'sectional viewport'? Also can is there a way to enable shadows for the Hidden Line rendering option?
  7. Hi, I am having trouble with getting exported 3D section viewports to consistently appear cleanly as an exported DWG to match the PDF viewports. Viewports on a sheet that are plan section viewports or detail viewports often lose their crop box and the DWG line data is very unclean or does not appear at all when exported. Fills are also lost. I have attached screenshots to show how the bottom drawing is not appearing after exporting as 2D graphics in model space and re-imported into rhino. It appears as a block instance and once exploded appears a coloured surface and not cad data. The Hidden Line dialogue box is selected for foreground render. Help with this would be greatly appreciated as it makes sending clear well annotated information to consultants from 3D model in 2D very difficult.
  8. Hi everyone, I have notice that there is problem which I am constantly coming across with. Quite often, the renders I do result being different once I render them in a viewport window. For example: This is a render I did on a design layer and both shape and texture look fine. But then, when I render through viewport on to a sheet layer, I end up having a different image: The image looks blurred and the texture lose its original color. I tried to scale up the viewport scale to see if at a bigger scale the resolution would change: and the image did improve in terms of sharpness but still the texture's color would not match the one I have in the design layer. Another odd mistake I've bumped in to, is this: It did happens a few time now, that when I render a solid, on the final render image comes up a shape that is not supposed to be there. In the green circle there's this black form that does not appear in the design layer as solid. In this case the green circle should result just the same as the blue one. All these little inconsistencies, often showed up in the final renders and even If I go back to try to sort them out I will not find the solution. I am wondering if this could be due to hardware performance that are not matching the software requirements or maybe some render settings that need to be edited? Once again, thanks for your help. F.
  9. Hello Forum, I'm putting some viewports on my sheet page, I'm getting strange things happening, they look a mess. I seem to be able to get some elevations to look ok, but any kind of 3d perspective is producing bizarre results, any ideas ? tia screenshots attached of how a view in the model space, and then on the sheet page after creating a viewport
  10. Hi All, Does anybody knows what the arrows are about? It's in no class, and you don't see it while printing, but it's always visible in your viewport. Seems to be a setting or anything..
  11. I'm creating a viewport from a clip cube, the model has other viewports created by reference files.. As you can see in the picture the viewport only shows part of the model, even if the crop includes all the model. I've also tried to create horizontal viewport but the result is the same.
  12. Hello everyone, Am quite new to vectorwork. I have tried to look how to crop apartment without having to draw a poly-line on my sheet layer but i have not seen any post. may be i miss it. Is there an option that when we create our viewport, Every wall end are close at the end? Please find enclosed a PDF with 3pages. Thanks for your help and advice. Apartment.pdf
  13. Hi, I have a wall Style made of various components and classes and I assigned it a fire rating value, for example this I would like to be able to highlight every wall's fire rating and obtain something that looks like this I created a custom line style that looks like this. Then I selected the rei properties of the wall styles with data visualization I don't know how to edit attributes to make things show. Editing pen style has no result. I know I could manually draw the lines in viewport annotation but I want it to happen automatically. I also created a custom tile to edit the fill attribute of the wall but the result is not as I expected. Any advice? Thank you in advance Martina
  14. hi, this may have been covered - I have found a few similar posts but nothing exactly this problem: stairs, visibilities on VP's: defined upper floor and lower floors as seen in stair settings below, from 2nd floor DL. they are visible in the DL of both main and 2nd floor, but not the 2nd floor VP. (also visible in main floor VP). class is not the problem - all are on. should I copy the stairs to 2nd floor DL so it's duplicated? (I have done that before just to get the job done, or draw in 2d, so I can keep going, but don't think it's the idea intended with the stair tool) also, the hand rail is set to inside only but shows up both sides, that's secondary to this visibility thing and too much time spent already to figure that out.... thanks for any help!! ps is there a good video tutorial for stairs that covers stuff like this?
  15. Hello Everyone, I'm starting my 3rd or 4th project in VW and the section markers (the triangles and bubbles with the numbers inside) look oversized in some viewports and tiny in others. It makes sense since I'm specifying the marker size in inches but I never had this issue before. Is there a way to keep them relative to the drawing like the Grid bubbles? There must be something I'm missing. Thank in advance! I'm using VW 2019 SP2 on macOS 10.14.3
  16. Documenting in 3D with VW will get you pages and pages of Sections/Elevations (good!). However, if the viewport caches are not properly saved, then you end up with pages upon pages of blank pages with empty red rectangle frames (no good!). The problem here is not that we do not render our viewports often enough, it is that updated viewports are not synced properly across the various machines in Project Sharing. The end result after a few rounds of 'save and comment' is that we end up with blank viewports again across all the terminals. So, if a staff was expecting to 'fix up' something in an elevation we printed out, he would finds himself having to re-render that section/elevation in his machine, because there is no viewport cache. Unfortunately rendering a hidden-line viewport is not a quick process (will post a separate feature request for fixing this). VW has to better log which VP is the most recently rendered, regardless of when a particular terminal performs the 'save and commit' function. As an office that needs to produce drawings for issuance. This fix can't come soon enough. This fix really needs to happen NOW. (and if you were going to ask whether 'save viewport cache' is checked across all terminals. Well, obviously, yes)
  17. I would like to have an option to control overall viewport class visibilities and overrides. Now I control it in Organization/Visibilities or with an Eyedropper copy the properties, but having 100 viewports and many classes it is hard to keep track of everything. For example I have 100 viewports of demo plans, 100 viewports of plans, 100 RCPs and 100 demo RCPs, 500 interior elevations and all of them have to look with particular graphic attributes. I suggest to have Visibility & Override Styles for Classes and Layers. So when updating a style the class visibilities and overrides of all viewports would be updated. Do you have other suggestions how it can be done now besides controlling class visibilities from Organization/Visibilities or copying properties with an Eyedropper?
  18. Hi VWX team, how do I turn off all beam directional markers while in Viewport? I inserted LEd and moving lights and created a viewport and have these directional arrows and angle markers that I want to turn off but can't seem to locate any settings for this thanks!
  19. Anyone else seeing stuff like this in vw 2019? Top is correct drawing from vw 2018 sp4 (it's a work in progress drawing) This is what vw 2019 draws.... Again this is correct: This is the exact same viewport in vw 2019. ??????? Interestingly this is the same distortion that used to happen when vw2018 was first released.
  20. Dear VW lovers, I have a VW file I have worked on for a few months, with contains many meanwhile unnecessary Design Layers, and now I wanted to reduce it to what I only need within this file. So firstly I deleted all unnecessary sheet layers and viewports and then purged the file down to the bone. But now the aim is to only keep the design layers which are connected to these Viewports. --> All other Design Layers can be deleted. But because there are so many of them, it is mighty time consuming to go over every single viewport and check which DLs are connected and which not, to then delete those. Is there an automation similar to purging that does the trick? Any help is appreciated. Cheers, Grethe
  21. Hi, I have some rendering problems. I have created this small file, where i want to make some renderings, but something seems to go wrong. I have created a camera and created a viewport on this camera. I have then duplicated the viewport, so I have three of them and I have rendered them with three different styles. But there is a differens in these. It looks like the perspektiv on the white line is strange on the fast and final q. also on the final q it seems like that the tiles are jumped a bit up? This is Open GL render This is fast q. render This is final q. render
  22. Hi All, I am having some trouble with a section viewport created from a clip cube. I want to alter the location/size of the clip forming one of my section viewports. I can go into the viewport, see the clip cube and move it. However when I exit the modelspace back to the viewport, the section cut is not updated to match the updated clip cube. Is this working as expected? Do I have to delete this viewport and form a new one if I want to edit the position or size of the clip cube? Thanks, A
  23. Hey guys, I'm just trying to change the line weight of a hand rail object in the elevation/section viewport. I'm sure this is possible, however I haven't been able to find the solution. My desired lineweight is 0.13mm, however it displays thicker in elevation/section view. I've included images of the OIP and attributes. The layer that the object is placed on is set to 0.13mm, but as you can see this is not the case. Thanks, Raymond
  24. A problem with my viewports occurs more and more often, which is that at some point all viewports on all sheet layers in various of my project VW files disintegrate. All viewports had already been previously rendered. This results in all viewports now showing up in Wireframe = none-rendered, whilst still keeping their settings. How st this even possible?
  25. Is it possible to create a Section-Viewport in Wireframe? I want my model to be represented in Wireframe, but after I create a Section of it, I do not find an option that lets me keep it as Wireframe in the Section-Viewport. Closest I find in the list is "Hidden Line". Thank you!
