  1. Heyo, I just tried to connect VW 2019 with a Ecxel document over the ODBC connection to transfer data. I try to use this Tutorial from @Miguel Barrera The Problem I have is when try to choose the dataconnection in VW, the options are not givin: I create connections in the ODCB Manager tfor every Ecxel Driver who exist: Why isnt this working in VW? I try to run VW with Admin Rights but still no result in the list.
  2. We are a Mac based office using vectorworks woth project sharing across the majority of our architectural projects as we have multiple users on each, and it’s been working fine. we are now looking at setting up some teams with pc’s instead (so they can also run revit), and we were wondering how the project sharing works across pc and Mac, and if anyone have had any problems with this? in effect some teams might have to do crossover work between Mac saved and pc saved vectorworks files via project sharing. any thoughts and suggestions would be helpful. many thanks kind regards anton
  3. I’m trying to connect the roof and wall components but it doesn’t seem to be working. As you can see from the image attached, the gabled roof sort of works as it is understanding where to offset the joists, sheathing and insulation (in relation to the wall) but the other roofs are not working. I’ve associated the walls to the roofs. I’ve tried manually offsetting components but this doesn’t seem efficient when there are many walls. Maybe I’m missing something but it’d be great to get some opinions. I essentially want the cladding, wall insulation and sheathing to run up to the roof finish. 19.07.31 PLAN TEST.vwx
  4. Wondering if anyone has a lead on any decent Vectorworks specific podcasts out there. So far I've only found the Novedge Podcast. I've got a long show with some headphone time coming up. Bonus points if it's Spotlight specific!
  5. Hi all! Working on a small interior project and for the first time only worked with Renderworks. Would like to share the results so far
  6. Since starting to use this program I have been having problems with the purge command. I currently am refining a .dwg I have imported into VW and having put the objects I want to keep into the correct classes, deleted the unused lines, I am now trying to purge the old classes that came in with the .dwg from the file. The file was 280Mb when I saved it just prior to purging. I started the purge command at 10.30 this morning and it is now 2.30pm. So 4 hours + is what VW thinks is appropriate to recognise the handful of unused classes etc. Before everyone says, "upload the file"; this is NOT a file related problem. This is absolutely a vectorworks problem as it has followed me through 3 full versions of VW, probably 9 Service packs, 3 New template files and every single file over 10Mb I have used. However, I know I am the only person to experience this as I only get condescending comments from tech support and there is nothing discussing purge slowness in the forums. Help?
  7. Hi all, I'm looking for a license of Vectorworks Architect / Fundamentals (2017/18/19). Is anyone selling? Thanks, Francesco
  8. Hiya & Happy Pre-X-MAS season, I was wondering where the 'Vectorworks Image Gallery' has been? It was not posted on the new Vectorworks website up until about 4 weeks ago when it briefly popped up and then dissapeared again. I even posted the question to technical support but even when following it up never received any feedback. See some of the images of projects Vectorworks users posted. I'd love for this page to be up and running again if that would be possible.
  9. Attempting to reenter the workforce independently as an Interior Designer and would love to jump back into Vectorworks. Looking for a single Vectorworks license for use on a Mac; ANY release. (Used Architect in the past; Fundamentals is a consideration, too!) Please let me know if you have one to sell! I really appreciate it! Thank you, Elizabeth

Hosted by Land8: Landscape Architects Network, Vectorworks was named a Top 10 Social Media Account for Allied Organizations. Additionally, Landscape Architecture Firms and Individual Landscape Architects had 10 winners per category. Land8 was originally founded as an online hub encouraging interactions between landscape architecture professionals but has since grown to an international community with over 1.5 million followers across Land8’s social media channels. According to Matt Alcide, managing partner and editor-in-chief at Land8: Landscape Architects Network, “Vectorworks engages the landscape architecture community and features posts that support and promote the work of landscape architects. 13. Hello, is there any way to select "lining figures" for fonts in Vectorworks 2017? I am using a font that allows to view its numbers in "lining figures" style, but in Vectorworks 2017 I don't see that option... Can anyone help? Thanks.
  14. I am looking to purchase a license of Spotlight 2017 or 2018. Please message me if you have one to sell. Thank you.
  15. is there a shortcut way of adding (for example) 6" in dimension (could be height, for instance) to a selected group of objects currently located at different heights? I thought there surely is a way to do this, so I tried entering "+6" in the Z field, but it entered 6" for all of the selected objects, which was not what I wanted. i want them to all be shifted up 6" relative to where they were located originally..

  18. Hello, I work with VW 2017, but I'm still not really used to build complex 3d volumes. At the moment I have to model an elliptical stair, and I'm only able to build it in Rhino. I've exported a DWG file from Rhino and imported it in VW. The imported faces are not really clean (dividied in triangles) and I am also not able to make sections through it and having a nice and clean section/elevation. I guess that this has also to do that rhino works with planes and Vectorworks with solids (?). Is there a way I could model/export this stair in rhino, import it in VW, and be able to make sections through it and also have the elevations? Thanks a lot. Have a nice week.
  19. If you thought Vectorworks was just 2D, it’s time to take a look at our 3D modeling capabilities.
  20. Hello, I am looking to export a Vectorworks 3D model to rhino. When I export using the rhino function all the layers are lost. I can individually export each individual layer and rename this and then import into rhino but this is very labour intensive. Is there an option similar to DWG export that allows layer preservation and solids to be exported.
  21. Hello!. I just changed from laptop to a 28" screen to work better on vectorworks, but now the information box when I measure is incomplete. On other words, using a line trying to measure doesnt show the whole information on the text-information box, the numbers appear half of them. Also, Arributes text: solid and opacity looks so small that I cant read them and that is happening with other palettes. Can somebody help me?. Thanks, SG
  22. Hi All, Seem to have a problem with scrolling on certain palette when using Windows systems. I've noticed this on: PC running Windows 7 (vwx 2017 sp3, sp4, and 2018) Laptop running Windows 10 (vwx 2017 sp3, sp4, [not tested 2018]) Also tested with multiple brands of mice. I've uploaded a short video as I don't know how to describe the palette clearly. You can see that the scroll works fine on some palettes, but fails to work on the one shown at the end.

  25. Hi All, Has anyone paired vectorworks with projectwise for project information/document/sharing management? If yes, what has been your experience? or do you have experience integrating vectorworks with aconex, asite adoddle, newforma, Sharepoint, archdesk, selfie, or similar for project management/information management/collaboration? If yes, what has been your experience? and what about blue beam integration with these? I know that blue beam is integrated into projectwise and sharepoint. I've heard that vectorworks and blue beam are working on much tighter vectorworks/Bluebeam integration for the future. It seems that this could be a benefit when interacting with project management software that is also integrated with blue beam. thanks in advance, joe
