Site Model Texture Bed with Thickness
Benson Shaw posted a question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
Wishing for: Enhanced Site Model Texture Bed or new Site Model "ThickBed" feature which offers: • A 3d solid/volume derived from all or portion of a site model surface • Concentric top and bottom surfaces (similar to a Shell object) • User defined thickness and/or components with thickness (similar to slabs and walls). • OIP or other access for controlling thickness value and direction (up/down) and bottom z. • Classable and Layerable. • Controls for attributes, perhaps similar to wall and slab components. • more Uses: • Soil stratigraphy, filled trenches and other sub grade features (downward thickness) • Zones of building heights in regional planning (upward thickness) • more Some things to chew on: • Are these ThickBeds site modifiers? or "dumb" volumes? user choice? • Control attributes via Site Model configuration? dedicated dialog? Attributes palette? • Cut/Fill aware? • more There are some process heavy ways to make shell objects from site model surface, but it's a pain. Wish is for easier way to accomplish. -B-

Texture Bed and Site Modifiers
ScottLebsack posted a question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
Pad site modifiers should also have a checkbox and texture selection for adding a texture to the modified surface. If I'm using a slab modifier, it probably as likely as not to need a texture different from the default. I use lumion with 3d grass, when I create a pad for a structure (house, pool, sidewalk...), I have to duplicate the path and create a texture bed modifier too. If not, grass will come up through slabs when rendering.-

Is it mandatory to drape "2D" Geometry of Modifiers on the DTM first ? It has been a while since I created my DTM but see that all Modifiers were draped on the DTM surface (which I think I wouldn't have done if working without ?) Especially I mean : a) Texture Beds b) Retaining Edges around (flat) Modifier Patches As I see the Modifiers still working ALTHOUGH some of them meanwhile lost parts of their Z-Position against the DTM (Maybe from doing modifications like moving or adding points that tend to jump in Z)

We are having some extreme difficulties with the site model and the use of hardscape>texture bed modifiers. We were updating a site model to reflect some design changes through the method of 3d polys as source data. The site model updates fine if it is not asked to reflect hardscape>texture bed modifiers in a different layer, but once the site model tries to update with those modifiers, it just won't work. The problem is that it worked before. We wouldn't have invested this much time if it didn't work the first time and now we are stuck, unable to update the 3d of our design. I have attached the file. Try and update the site model to reflect the hardscape>texture bed modifiers. 333_Site model.vwx
