  1. Hardscape object set as “ site modifier ” can not be applied on existing terrain, only on purposed terrain, contrary to site modifiers objects which have the option so those site modifiers objects can be applied on existing OR purposed terrain. This option can be really useful sometimes. Even if there are really good enhancements to those tools in Vectorworks 2023, I think this option needs to be added. Do we have a chance that this could happen ? Thanks  !
  2. I am trying to show the visual effects of a proposed carpark and visitor facility. I have imported a textured .obj survey file in the form of a mesh (see attached file) and I need to insert the site model for the new carpark into this while keeping the terrain and textures of the surrounding area intact. I find when I try to edit/cut a hole in the mesh to create a space for the new carpark, the texture disappears. Is there a way to 'bake' the texture onto the 3d polygons within the mesh? or can the mesh be converted into another form that allows me to do this? Thanks, Steve
  3. Hello, is there any VW plugin available like Sketchup Placemaker, or Infraworks or something like Worldmashine to get any terrain/landscape map into VW!? Thank you and best regards Nik
  4. I've been doing a lot more work with Site Models and have come across a couple of situations that would make for a much better experience. Could we have the proposed contours stop at the site modifier defining the limit of grading. This would be more like how it's done traditionally and would read a heck of a lot better. Can we have a tool that would add contour labels where you direct it to by drawing a line across the model with control over middle or top of contours? The current labels seem to generate based on number of vertices and end up in the worst spots. Looking forward to seeing the continued maturation of the software!
  5. Troubleshooting - I have a site model created from 3d polys and some stake points. Generally this has worked, though in one particular area the site model is coming up with some unexplained geometry... See attached image, showing input survey data for terrain (in red) and existing site model contours (green dashed). Any ideas on why this has happened / how I can fix it?!
  6. Hello everyone I´m starting to work with vectorworks, and I also have the handicap that I have the programme in German because I´m currently working at an architectural office in Berlin. I need to make a 3d model of the terrain of a big area for a masterplan. I have the contour lines in 2D, indicating a difference in height of 1 meter each one. What´s the best method I can use? Do I need to put different stacks in each line to indicate the level it has, or there is a way to convert them to 3d? Sorry if it´s a very basic question, but I´m having a very difficult time trying to understand everything
  7. We use Vectorworks quite heavily in the office for 2D drawing, but are just really starting to get to grips with Landmark / Renderworks, and while I am loving it so far I'm not quite sure of the full extent of it's capabilities. I am looking to do some visualisations for a wind farm planning application, for which the levels of accuracy required by technical guidance for visualisation (published by SNH) is quite precise, and I'm not sure if it's something that can be achieved in Vectorworks or if I need to look at bespoke wind energy software (such as Resoft Windfarm / WindPro etc.) I need to be able to match a wireframe view of OS terrain information (for an area of up to 80km of Terrain50 contour shapefiles or DTM grid) with a panorama photograph, to an exact bearing direction and field of view. The wireframe needs to match the cylindrical projection of the panorama photograph (- i.e. NOT be in standard equirectangular / planar perspective as per a single standard photograph,) and the model will also need to account for the curvature of the earth and atmospheric refraction. My current feeling is this is beyond the realms of Vectorworks capability at present, (much as I would love this not to be the case!!) but I would appreciate the thoughts of users with more experience and expertise!!
  8. We often work directly with civil engineers who are stuck in Autodesks Civil3D world. I know that the suite of tools they use to model terrain, roads, and sites isn't too far off from Vectorworks site models and site modifiers. Everytime we try to collaborate with Civil3D users, we have to dumb the data down to a base .dwg and in doing so we lose a lot of what Civil3D calls AeCc objects. These have a lot of information included that is useful, including the basic graphic attributes and operability. It would be awesome if the import commands for .dwgs or whatever file type is best can better aide the interchange between the two programs! And for that matter, the interchange should work both ways. I should be able to send files with objects that a Civil3D user can easily use and manipulate!
