  1. So I'm working to develop workflows for my practice. Attached is the file I'm currently working with. Guides and standard naming of classes.... I want guides to be created on class X-Guides. I think I've got standard naming set up correctly to do this , but when I go to create guides, Modify>Create Guide, the "Guide" class is created and the guide is created on that layer instead of where I want it to go. What's going wrong? Thanks, Rudy Beuc Existing - Inital Layout.vwx
  2. Hi, I'm setting up an office standard using Standard Naming. The reason I am choosing to use this as opposed to using a template file with common classes and resources is that I want to bring old project files up to date with my new standard. I also anticipate tweaking the standard and like being able to force any changes across multiple projects. I have edited the ClassNameStds worksheet to add new names and I'm editing the attributes in the Standard Naming Dialog. So far so good. The attributes I can set in Standard Naming are Line, Line Weight, Line type. Fill can be set to only None, Fill, and Pattern but not Hatch. Since I do use hatches, I could apply the standard, and then manually add hatches to certain classes. If I apply the Standard again though, it wipes out the hatches I have set. It does this regardless of whether I tick the 'Use at creation' box. Is there a way to use Standard Naming and still have hatches applied to some classes? Thanks!
  3. Hi vectorworks community, I wonder if people use standard naming tool (found in File>Document Settings>Standard Naming...) for daily work as a part of their office standard template...is it of any use and if yes is it reliable to do what it suggest? My main aim is to have classes in my own language - not english, ones that are coming automatically with certain inserted objects (site model, site modifier, roads, window, doors...) I have been experimenting little bit with these tool with mixed feelings so far. For example class name for site modifier will not change even if I have mapped it with custom name...still coming as: Site-DTM-Modifier What about copying objects from other files (ones with standard VW arch active ). Will it bring classes with that standard names or will it rename accordingly my custom standard....? What about class attributes that can be defined within dialogue...will it override existing class attributes? What is best approach to use this tool? Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.
  4. Hello guys! I am new VW, currently using the 2018 SP6 edition on a iMac 2017 (Mojave). I have been trying to use the Standard Naming command, but I've have had problems trying to bring the layers and classes with all their line styles and pre-sets into a Template file I've been trying to create. I have activated the auto-classing and it creates new classes when bringing objects like doors from the Resource Manager, but I have not succeeded on trying to bring or import the rest of the classes, layers or VP that I can see in the Standard Naming's dialog box. Is there a way to import them into a blank new file, so I can create a Template file for example? Thanks in advance, Christian
