  1. Hi, I'm a German Spotlight User and found in the Architecture Version the Grid Tool (in German "Raster Werkzeug"). It's pretty useful for a lot of Situation like big Festival Sheets or Axes in Venues etc. Could you please add this tool to the Spotlight Version as well. Thanks in advance
  2. Hello Really excited to see new Manfrotto stand object library's been waiting forever for these. However they are all wrong as the leg spacing is not 120deg around the stand but lop sided. Please correct as it makes these library's useless as they are not right.
  3. Does anybody know if there is a way to create a specific ganging object? I want my ganging tool to only show a fixture's Circuit Name not Circuit Name & Circuit Number? OR if I have to stay with Name & Number, can I tell it to only display the Name? Thanks.
  4. I have been working on a document in 2018 and suddenly the Color of my lighting symbols has disappeared. I do not have Black and White Only checked and I also do not have use layer color in document preferences checked. I do have 2 viewports used in the show. Are there any other settings that could be causing this? spotlight question example.pdf spotlight b:w question example.pdf
  5. Option for Vision to take dmx info from Vectorworks’ Address field in “universe/address” format. Currently, Vision only takes Universe and U Address information, and there is no option to move data from the Address field into the Universe and U Address fields without the use of Lightwright.
  6. Spotlight Truss count tool... We have a Lighting Label Legend plugin to summarize Lighting Object names and qtys. Can we have a plugin to summarize Straight Truss and motor size, length, and qty?
  7. It would be cool if you could actually place hoists and braceworks connections on the same layer as your truss/position that you use for a rotated DLVP position. You currently cannot do this, you get the hybrid symbol error if you try to rotate it (this is solely caused by hoists and rigging connections, which is stupid because if you uncheck show screen plane/planer view it seems like it should be a non-issue since it's treated as 3D only anyway) In addition to this it would be rad if the hoists could auto adjust their chain and orientation to always be vertical, or show the toe-in/toe-out of the chain. In a similar way to how a lighting device can track it's focus point through the DLVP.
  8. Looking for generic symbols for things like C-Clamps, Mega Claws and Clamps, Side Arms, tail downs, extenders, tube extenders, Safer Side Arms, etc. Does this exist already? I've checked the Service Select Portal and don't see anything there...
  9. Festoon / Bistro Light tool... This probably wouldn't be too much of a stretch from the Rope and Stanchion tool.
  10. Cable Swag Tool to show cable swags from point to point and/or dropping off truss.
  11. Easy way to get a Vision Render onto a sheet layer in Vectorworks.
  12. Auto DMX Address & DMX Universe population based upon “Univ/Address” entry in Address field.... This would be useful to see how many channels are needed for a lighting position before patching that lighting position.
  13. Channel Qty column and/or dmx attribute breakdown chart or pane in Lighting Object Fixture Mode window. For example, if a Lighting Object is 3ch... is it HSI? Or RGB? Or neither?
  14. VWX Lighting Object Fixture Mode Search for a quicker way to find fixtures than the currently used tree structure.
  15. Ok, I can't figure out how to build truss towers with the insert truss tool. There is no hanging position option with the TomCat truss. Also cant find a truss base objest. Help?
  16. Hi I can't really understand why it is not possible to focus a light without implementing a specific focuspoint. It seems super obvious that one should be able to choose a single or multiple instruments and simply write 45 dgr tilt or pan. In a similar way to how the 3D orientation works now, but only functioning on the yoke. Unless one is working with the specific purpose of making accurate visualisations, making a focus point for almost every single lighting instrument is an enormous ekstra workload and even produces a worse end-product, when creating the paperwork, when most people want every instrument to line up in nice and clean 0, 30 or 45 degree angles. I may be wrong, and this funktion somehow already has existed for years without me finding it... as it should, because this seems to me to be the most obvious feature that one would need when drafting lighting plots.
  17. It would be great if you could place a camera operator in Spotlight and click on them to see their view. Also with the ability to change the camera settings the same way that a camera operator would. I know that you could insert a camera on top of an operator but it would be great to click on the camera position and be able to see what they see. Also include pan, tilt, and zoom relative to what the camera could do. Thanks!
  18. I know there are some workarounds for this, but it'd be nice to just have the option to have fixtures excluded from paperwork in the object info panel. Either that or being able to select the classes that the paperwork will create from. I have a class for all standard fixture elements, but I also have a separate class strictly for house lights, so I can visualize with them on. Being able to remove them somehow in a native feature would be brilliant.
  19. Hi All, I am currently learning how to create walkthrough animations for models created in Vectorworks Spotlight. The only problem I seem to have is not being able to adjust the time duration on the Move Along Path option and the animation is far too fast. Is there something I am missing? Please see attached screenshot... Thank you 🙂
  20. Please make the SpotLight Truss Tool snap to the nearest rounded up or down whole number. I have never used a stick of truss that is 20' 4.3242". This would be a big time saver (and ridicule from the riggers, when I forget to fix one) Thanks Mark
  21. OK, so plot done, dropboxed to shop, all is well, til the swaps, count and other changes occur. Deadlines are now, as they tend to be at this point in the process. The Instrument Summary tool in 2019 appears to be failing. Please see attached movie, where you'll notice truncated text in the "Build List" tool, swapping out for the correct item fails repeatedly / continuously, so no fresh plot to the shop. SO not good. Since productivity on this project has stopped, I took the time away from other projects to reach out here for assistance. All help gratefully received! No, I can not upload the file, nda and all that. Yes, I did check to be sure all items are attached to hanging position. EDIT: Just chatted with Juan in Priority Support, who says this is a known problem without a current fix, but with a workaround: "Add a dummy field as last item, so that becomes the hidden item" or words to that effect. I'll report back here shortly. OK, the workaround works: 1] created, then added a dummy fixture to document resource folder 2] executed the steps as shown in second movie, which basically equates to adding the dummy fixture as the last item in the summary But you'll also notice that when multiple Inst Summaries are selected and acted upon, only the first in that selection becomes modified, so every single summary must be touched individually, in order correct the issue. Upwards of thirty of those on my current document. Anyone know why this is? Inst Sum Nightmare.mp4 Instrument Summary Nightmare workaround.mp4
  22. In the attached photo is a custom position label symbol, with a custom record format. I am experiencing an issue where the symbol does not refresh to its previous data when executing the undo command. The top symbol shows the 'Position Label Field' with the default value P-##, and the bottom field shows the 'Position Label Field' with the modified value from the Spotlight Numbering tool, using the Object with Record option, 1. For this example I executed the undo command, and as you'll see in the OIP it reverts to the original field data, however a nudge will be required to refresh the symbol so it will update. The action of nudging symbols after undoing a numbering action is not ideal. Has anyone else had this experience?
  23. I have a large convention center project with many separate areas. I want to put a hoist worksheet on my viewport. But I do to want all the hoist to show up. How do i sort the criteria for the worksheet. Do I need to create a worksheet for each area? Thanks!
  24. When setting the modify instrument color to only a specific class and setting the label legend container to use lighting instrument attributes it would still color that class in the container field. (I set a copy of the container in the container symbol to use a Symbol-Color Code class so that only the channel oval fill would be color coded. I went back and tried at it's most basic level using the color field (image attached) in a brand new document and even when set to the default container class of 'None' the color coding doesn't propagate down to the container. It still propagates down if you don't modify by class but I don't like to change the color of the instruments themselves, but I like a visual identification of system locations (specifically for a designer I draft for). I used to do it with a label legend per system (using different containers) and I'd prefer not to return to that method. DId a workflow method change? I've even opened up a 2017 drawing in 2018 and the color coding that worked in 2017 doesn't come through. This is on Spotlight 2018 Service Pack 3 Windows 10.
