  1. Easy way to get a Vision Render onto a sheet layer in Vectorworks.
  2. Auto DMX Address & DMX Universe population based upon “Univ/Address” entry in Address field.... This would be useful to see how many channels are needed for a lighting position before patching that lighting position.
  3. Channel Qty column and/or dmx attribute breakdown chart or pane in Lighting Object Fixture Mode window. For example, if a Lighting Object is 3ch... is it HSI? Or RGB? Or neither?
  4. VWX Lighting Object Fixture Mode Search for a quicker way to find fixtures than the currently used tree structure.
  5. Hi Guys, Anyone having this issue with the instrument summary text? All text disappears. The only way to solve it at the moment is inserting a new summary which is a pain since I need to re-do all my summary settings every time. Thanks in advance.
  6. Ok, I can't figure out how to build truss towers with the insert truss tool. There is no hanging position option with the TomCat truss. Also cant find a truss base objest. Help?
  7. I know there are some workarounds for this, but it'd be nice to just have the option to have fixtures excluded from paperwork in the object info panel. Either that or being able to select the classes that the paperwork will create from. I have a class for all standard fixture elements, but I also have a separate class strictly for house lights, so I can visualize with them on. Being able to remove them somehow in a native feature would be brilliant.
  8. Please make the SpotLight Truss Tool snap to the nearest rounded up or down whole number. I have never used a stick of truss that is 20' 4.3242". This would be a big time saver (and ridicule from the riggers, when I forget to fix one) Thanks Mark
  9. Hi I can't really understand why it is not possible to focus a light without implementing a specific focuspoint. It seems super obvious that one should be able to choose a single or multiple instruments and simply write 45 dgr tilt or pan. In a similar way to how the 3D orientation works now, but only functioning on the yoke. Unless one is working with the specific purpose of making accurate visualisations, making a focus point for almost every single lighting instrument is an enormous ekstra workload and even produces a worse end-product, when creating the paperwork, when most people want every instrument to line up in nice and clean 0, 30 or 45 degree angles. I may be wrong, and this funktion somehow already has existed for years without me finding it... as it should, because this seems to me to be the most obvious feature that one would need when drafting lighting plots.
  10. OK, so plot done, dropboxed to shop, all is well, til the swaps, count and other changes occur. Deadlines are now, as they tend to be at this point in the process. The Instrument Summary tool in 2019 appears to be failing. Please see attached movie, where you'll notice truncated text in the "Build List" tool, swapping out for the correct item fails repeatedly / continuously, so no fresh plot to the shop. SO not good. Since productivity on this project has stopped, I took the time away from other projects to reach out here for assistance. All help gratefully received! No, I can not upload the file, nda and all that. Yes, I did check to be sure all items are attached to hanging position. EDIT: Just chatted with Juan in Priority Support, who says this is a known problem without a current fix, but with a workaround: "Add a dummy field as last item, so that becomes the hidden item" or words to that effect. I'll report back here shortly. OK, the workaround works: 1] created, then added a dummy fixture to document resource folder 2] executed the steps as shown in second movie, which basically equates to adding the dummy fixture as the last item in the summary But you'll also notice that when multiple Inst Summaries are selected and acted upon, only the first in that selection becomes modified, so every single summary must be touched individually, in order correct the issue. Upwards of thirty of those on my current document. Anyone know why this is? Inst Sum Nightmare.mp4 Instrument Summary Nightmare workaround.mp4
  11. In the attached photo is a custom position label symbol, with a custom record format. I am experiencing an issue where the symbol does not refresh to its previous data when executing the undo command. The top symbol shows the 'Position Label Field' with the default value P-##, and the bottom field shows the 'Position Label Field' with the modified value from the Spotlight Numbering tool, using the Object with Record option, 1. For this example I executed the undo command, and as you'll see in the OIP it reverts to the original field data, however a nudge will be required to refresh the symbol so it will update. The action of nudging symbols after undoing a numbering action is not ideal. Has anyone else had this experience?
  12. It would be great if you could place a camera operator in Spotlight and click on them to see their view. Also with the ability to change the camera settings the same way that a camera operator would. I know that you could insert a camera on top of an operator but it would be great to click on the camera position and be able to see what they see. Also include pan, tilt, and zoom relative to what the camera could do. Thanks!
  13. I have a large convention center project with many separate areas. I want to put a hoist worksheet on my viewport. But I do to want all the hoist to show up. How do i sort the criteria for the worksheet. Do I need to create a worksheet for each area? Thanks!
  14. Hi there! simply question : its possible to have a full library from Litec ? to works better with Braceworks web:https://www.litectruss.com/products/ Library: - Trusses - Conical trusses - Libera system - High load Trusses - Towers - Flytowers Thanks in advance.
  15. I wish you could reshape distributed loads with the reshape tool rather than trying to edit the path which won't allow you to see the underlying objects to snap your adjustments to.
  16. 1. With the UI change in the numbering window, you can click on Channel and set the start and increment, etc. in the top right box. Then you can select another field (like Unit #) and set those attributes. It'd be great if I could do multi directional numbering as well (i.e - channels left to right and unit numbers right to left). I'd love to be able to set that on a per field basis. 2. We should be able to drag and resort the field. Who uses Left Shutter Depth on a regular basis? At the very least, we should be able to select what is displayed so we can save sets!
  17. Hello! I'm having trouble using the new spotlight numbering tool in VW 2019. I can't seem to get fixtures to take the channel info. I've attached a video of the problem. Any ideas? Rx VWX Problem.mov
  18. I'm working in Designer, and when switching to the Spotlight workspace, the tool set palette is not visible. When I turn it on, it shows as an empty gray rectangle. I can move it around, but not access any tools or dock it. When I switch to other workspaces, I do not have the same problem - the tool sets are there, and working. Is this something I can fix myself? Best, Palle
  19. I'm trying to create a worksheet that auto calculates spare lighting fixtures. So far I have it setup a database row that shows symbol image, instrument type, count per fixture. I want to add a column that calculates spares. I want the spare fixture count to be 15% of the total count. I would also like this number rounded up to the nearest whole number. For example, if I have 5 fixtures, instead of the column saying .75, I want it to say 1. I have tried using the Round command. I've been trying =(Round(C3*.15)+1). In my head that should get me a minimum of 1. What always seems to happen is the formula is calculated on the total of all the fixture below, instead of each row. See Image. My next question is, how do I set the row height for the cells in 3.*. I know I can select the cells and change the height, but I want to change the default height for those cells, so anytime I add a fixture to the drawing it gets added at the correct height? Thanks.
  20. Hi All, I am currently learning how to create walkthrough animations for models created in Vectorworks Spotlight. The only problem I seem to have is not being able to adjust the time duration on the Move Along Path option and the animation is far too fast. Is there something I am missing? Please see attached screenshot... Thank you 🙂
  21. Hi VWX team, how do I turn off all beam directional markers while in Viewport? I inserted LEd and moving lights and created a viewport and have these directional arrows and angle markers that I want to turn off but can't seem to locate any settings for this thanks!
  22. Hi all Apologies if what I am seeing is something obvious I am just missing. Instead of a BLACK stroke according to the Attributes palette, a portion of a soft goods group has a RED stroke. I've tried changing it to a different color and back again with no affect. Appreciate the input! I've attached a photo.
  23. Wishing for VW or some other coder to develop (Landru design?). I would love to have a "theater lineset" tool which can do the following: Layout in plan and section a theater's lineset and lineset schedule via manual entry of lineset info Linesets would be numbered and classed and be in 3d, with the correct length (adjustable) and the correct height (adjustable). Scenic items could be assigned to specific linesets and they would then be positioned according to trim height All information can be controlled via a worksheet (lineset schedule) which updates in both directions, ie. if I move scenery A from lineset 12 to 14, I can make the change in the worksheet and it will update the scenery, and vice versa. Other things like including weight calcs, scenery in /out positions etc. also desired.
  24. Would love to see some improvements to Seating Section tool - namely : Consolidate it with the Seating Layout tool (having two similar tools is confusing) Ability to add cross aisles. Currently can limit the number of rows - but that's pretty useless most of the time. I'd like to see an option like "Add a Xmm / ' aisle every X rows" or similar Make the focus point more obvious. Currently only visible (and barely) when in an interactive scaling mode. This must be a killer for beginners Ability to show loci only instead of actual symbol (on the design layer - not within the tool). It is PAINFULLY slow sometimes with big seating layouts Make the "Always redraw section" check box work. Doesn't seem to do anything at the moment. Constantly redraws no matter what Fix the numerous slow downs and odd behaviours. Just 30 minutes of messing about / experimenting with the tool throws up all sorts of odd stuff. Currently waiting for the dialogue box to refresh whilst I type (use actual symbols is unticked). Seems the more you use it in one session - the slower it gets? (just a guess). Been staring at the attached screen shot for about 2 mins? It won't let me update the seat spacing / row space (as they both default to 0 and 0 - the preview window takes forever to re-draw. Does it need to refresh after every key press? Just typing 500 can take 30 seconds waiting for it to update between 5, 0 and 0. Remember settings fro previous session. Generally - if you have lots of seating sections in one document - they would have the same seat / row spacing and maybe limits. These need resetting each time you start a new seating section If after deleting some seats manually (after selecting "Edit Seating") - you click on "update" - the seats are replaced with out warning 😡. Very frustrating. (Update only available if "automatically redraw section" is not selected. Also happens when you re-shape boundary without warning. Surely Edit Seats should be used as a last resort) No point using "Edit Seating" as even a minor change results in your edits being lost. After using "Clip surface" whilst editing the boundary - you are asked if "you want to automatically fill the new area with seats". Slightly misleading if you have clipped the existing poly. Should the message say "re-populate the new area?" or similar? After "Edit Seating" you are asked if you want to re-shape the bounding box. The new bounding box doesn't always help though - doesn't seem to be accurate. Ie - delete some seats manually whilst in "Edit Seating" mode, let it update the bounding box, then click on update (or for some reason "Always Redraw Section" twice) - and the deleted seats re appear. Add ability to create a centre aisle. Currently, if you clip surface through the entire seating section - you lose half the seats. You need to finish the poly just short so that you are not dividing the whole seating section into two. Bit of a work around and not obvious. Personally - a straight forward (ie - not curved) seating layout is much quicker using duplicate array etc and not bothering with this tool. I only use it for curved layouts. Not worth the effort otherwise. Andrew
  25. Now the question is, how do I use my custom bumper in the speaker array tool? RCF HDL-30A.vwx
