About Me

  1. Support requests made via https://customers.vectorworks.net/support -> Support Request -> Get Support button are a black box. Other than a notice on the refreshed page saying that the message went through, there is no way to confirm that it did, there's no confirmation email sent, no case number, no way to update the support request, nothing. Most other support websites offer some form of ticketing system, or at least an email confirmation. This should be general practice for all support & bug report submissions, but even more so for a paid system like Service Select. I understand that I might not get an instantaneous response, but even an acknowledgement of receipt (even an automated one), would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Excited to see that the grip library is expanding with the inclusion of the Manfrotto stand symbols. Can we expect Matthews c-stand symbols not far behind?
  3. So since we are getting all of these great new Speaker Manufactures symbols available with 2017 Service Select. How can we import these new items into an array using the Speaker array tool. I have looked around and cant find a solution. There must be a way to add the new service select speaker symbols into the speaker array tool. Anyone know how to do this! It would be super helpful. Example is L Acoustic symbols that where release. I would like to be able to make an array with them using the tool!
  4. Reading THIS May 8, 2020 LiveDesignOnline interview with Vectorworks CEO, Dr. Biplab Sarkar, I read the following: I just received an email from VW with my Service Select renewal (with price increase) and there was no mention of the above being an option. So I was wondering if the offer to waive the reinstatement penalty fee for 2021 is in fact the current stated policy. Thanks.
  5. Every now and then we introduce a new user to Vectorworks and it would great if we could put them in front of a video on Service Select that introduces the interface (and which is updated for each version).
  6. I'd like to request online training content for Service Select users. Specifically, a video tutorial explaining how to use the Notes Manager and avoid problems. Topics to include: Dos and don'ts. Pitfalls to avoid. What you need to do if copying and pasting notes from other design layers or other files. And/or why to avoid it. Good alternative practice. Comprehensive description of the behaviour of notes and the notes database in relation to files, design layers, callouts and keynotes and how to manage these relationships.
  7. I would like these Forums to be interconnected with Service Select specifically so local Distributors can see when their Service Select subscribers are posting questions. Public support answers (where appropriate) help the general knowledge / answer pool and highlight when there are a large volume of questions about certain issues. Alternately, if these can't be connected, maybe there could be a way to tag my profile as linked to a specific Distributor on the Forum.... Kevin
