  1. In this situation I have two layers, one with pdf's as reference and one with my design. The problem i'm having is if I rotate the camera in my design layer the pdf layer doesn't follow, it stayes in a kind of screen plane mode.. Same thing if I activate the pdf layer and rotate the camera. Then the pdf's are "on the ground" but the design layer is floating in screen mode. I've had this problem before and just worked around it, but I'm sure it's a setting or a workflow thing I have done at some point but I don't understand how to fix it. Some help would be appreciated.
  2. (Beside that I am pretty known for wanting Screen Plane System to die completely) When I use Referenced 2D Source Data by Design Layer Viewports to draw over, that works fine in Top Plan View. But if I need a Crop for my VPs, which is forced to be defined using Screen Plane, and want to use my 2D underlay to model also in 3D, like in an Isometric View, That crop will be oriented different than my geometry in View (by Screen Plane so to say*) and so cut parts of my needed 2D Plan. That makes referenced Geometry pretty useless in 3D (*) the Crop is not oriented by screen plane in reality, it is just rotated in to screen plane's rotation. As it will scale/zoome and move related to my Geometry. Otherwise I could at least zoom in to re-visibilize the occluded parts of my 2D plan underlay.
  3. Is there a way to obtain screen x/y co-ordinates of 3D points or loci? I want to place text objects at the centre of 3D objects but in screen plane. I can find the objects' centre and I can place a 3D Locus there, no problem. Now I want to either place a text object in 3D or on the screen plane but where the centre point of the 3D object is. Here's a fake result: I want this to run as an executable Marionette, not as an object because I'm looking for a specific object type in the current layer to be labelled. I cannot seem to find a node that will return the screen plane co-ordinates of a 3D point. Also, there seems to be no way to move a text object to a specified location in 3D space.
  4. Hello, I am new to the forums so apologies if this is a common topic. Been using vectorworks for a while now and never really fully understood the differences and or benefits of using either screen plane or layer plane when drawing. Primarily using vectorworks for 2D drawing and assumed that screen plane was better to use for this. However it seems that without adjusting the setting some items in files end up being on layer plane, even after selecting to force the plane mode to screen in the plane mode preferences panel. This preference seems to be forgotten while the file is closed. It causes issues when items are drawn in different plane modes as it seems you are unable to select certain items if different. It would be great if someone was able to explain the differences fully, which is better to use for 2D drawing and how to set this as a default. Thanks, Matt
