  1. A useful trait of the reshape tool always used to be that if you included an inserted object inside the reshape marquee, (eg a 'wide flange' steel section) it would get moved along with the lines and other elements that were being stretched or shortened. Unfortunately this no longer seems to work! I have noticed this since about VW2020 and have up until now just put up with it, using a workaround by reshaping the lines etc first and then moving any included inserted objects manually. I just wonder if there is a setting somewhere that inadvertently got changed that is causing this to happen. I have trawled through preferences and settings but cannot find anything. I can't seem to find any reference to this on the forum or even on a general Google search so if anyone out there has any ideas I would love to hear from them! As an addendum I would just like to point out that any home-brewed symbols that are included in the marquee continue to be moved as before, it seems only inserted elements such as steel sections that don't get moved.
  2. In this video I try to use the reshape tool in adjust parallel edges mode to adjust the bottom edge of an extrude to align with to top face of another extrude below, however Vectorworks fails to acquire any snaps on the extrude below. I would expect snap to point to acquire the top corner of the extrude below. I would expect to be able to hit T to constrain the movement to the vertical axis and then be able to snap to the intersect of the constrained line with the top face of the extrude below. I switch to orthogonal mode and rotate view to match the plane of the extrusion hoping that I might pick up a point somewhere but I don't get any snaps at all on the object below. Why is this not working? As you can see I have all my snaps turned on apart from grid snap. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature request. But it feels like it must be a bug because if I come out of the extrude and draw a line from the point at which the reshape handle was at to the top face of the extrude below the snaps work as expected. If I then go back into the extrude I'm able to use reshape to edit the polygon inside the extrude to snap to the point at the bottom of the line. 2078744964_ScreenRecording2023-01-31at12_27_09.mov 376387456_ScreenRecording2023-01-31at13_06_34.mov 1311394037_ScreenRecording2023-01-31at13_09_11.mov

https://youtu.be/vuCvK4OwN80 German Movie https://youtu.be/Nm0te1zmpVY English Movie Structure of the Input: 1. Group with Geometry group (send to back) and Reshape Zone definition (send to front). Best practice is to use a blue smbol without screen plane objects 2. Reshape Zone group has further groups. Every reshape zones (polygons) is grouped with a dimension object. The dimension is the link to the script. The parameter name is a prefix of the dimension text 3. Use one of the existing examples to understand the system Limitations: 1. Supportes not 3D, Chain Dimension, path objects, rectangles. Container objects are not reshaped but moved (like the reshape tool) 2. user origin has to be set to vectorworks origin 3. not mix of screen-plane and layer plane. Use all layer-plane 4. ...
  4. The Reshape Tool is a great function to visual reshape a object. Unfortunately it's implementation in VW is non uniform. A lot of times when I activate the Reshape tool on a object I see all the buttons (move polygon point, move edge etc.) but none of them are useful for the object. In my opinion a lot of tools missing the reshape function. I think VW should make a decision: - Implement the reshape capabilities for those object, or don't make the reshape tool active when only selecting a non compactible object. - Only show the reshape buttons (move polygon point, move edge etc.) that are useful for that particular object. Some examples: Reshape Custom Cabinet is a great example it only shows the buttons that are useful. But compared to reshape the base cabinet where all the reshape buttons are shown but none of them are working... Reshape floating floor (z=1000mm) shows control points on the plane, compared to reshaping a floating slab where the control points are correct IMHO. Reshape Column, all buttons shown none working Reshape Pillar shows control points for editing the shape but none for the height. Compared to reshaping a extrude where you can controll the height but not the shape Reshape a wall missing tools. Would be useful to have move by edge option Reshaping 3d modeling tools can be activated but none of them are working. For example if I activate the reshape tool on a object where I recently made fillet edge it would be usefull to use control points to edit the fillet radius This list can go on and on. Please take action and make VW a more uniform experience. Make the control points more visual instead of boxes For example show arrows for extrusion and edit of fillet edge etc. like with the Shapr3D App
  5. Hello Forum, using the Reshape tool on various shapes to put radii on corners, doesn't work on rectangles or squares, no handles appear like they do with other shapes, screenshot attached of shapes that work and rectangle that doesn't. Works fine with other shapes, just not rectangles!! Is this intended, a bug ??
  6. You used to be able to move just the text portion of the callout, with the arrow end staying by using the reshape tool & drawing a marquee around just the text and then moving to suit, with the arrow end staying put. It worked in 2016, removed in 2017 for some reason and still missing in 2018.
  7. The reshape tool used to be able to be used on call outs but it now seems to have no impact. Bug or no longer a method to use?
