  1. A useful trait of the reshape tool always used to be that if you included an inserted object inside the reshape marquee, (eg a 'wide flange' steel section) it would get moved along with the lines and other elements that were being stretched or shortened. Unfortunately this no longer seems to work! I have noticed this since about VW2020 and have up until now just put up with it, using a workaround by reshaping the lines etc first and then moving any included inserted objects manually. I just wonder if there is a setting somewhere that inadvertently got changed that is causing this to happen. I have trawled through preferences and settings but cannot find anything. I can't seem to find any reference to this on the forum or even on a general Google search so if anyone out there has any ideas I would love to hear from them! As an addendum I would just like to point out that any home-brewed symbols that are included in the marquee continue to be moved as before, it seems only inserted elements such as steel sections that don't get moved.
  2. The Reshape Tool is a great function to visual reshape a object. Unfortunately it's implementation in VW is non uniform. A lot of times when I activate the Reshape tool on a object I see all the buttons (move polygon point, move edge etc.) but none of them are useful for the object. In my opinion a lot of tools missing the reshape function. I think VW should make a decision: - Implement the reshape capabilities for those object, or don't make the reshape tool active when only selecting a non compactible object. - Only show the reshape buttons (move polygon point, move edge etc.) that are useful for that particular object. Some examples: Reshape Custom Cabinet is a great example it only shows the buttons that are useful. But compared to reshape the base cabinet where all the reshape buttons are shown but none of them are working... Reshape floating floor (z=1000mm) shows control points on the plane, compared to reshaping a floating slab where the control points are correct IMHO. Reshape Column, all buttons shown none working Reshape Pillar shows control points for editing the shape but none for the height. Compared to reshaping a extrude where you can controll the height but not the shape Reshape a wall missing tools. Would be useful to have move by edge option Reshaping 3d modeling tools can be activated but none of them are working. For example if I activate the reshape tool on a object where I recently made fillet edge it would be usefull to use control points to edit the fillet radius This list can go on and on. Please take action and make VW a more uniform experience. Make the control points more visual instead of boxes For example show arrows for extrusion and edit of fillet edge etc. like with the Shapr3D App
  3. To take a great shortcut feature from Bluebeam.... Is it possible, when editing/modifying a polyline type object to add/delete nodes using the ctrl key. This can be done from the reshape tool, and/or the selection too to speed modifying up, without having to change tools or their option settings. holding the ctrl key down and clicking on a line a vertex node is created. If you ctrl+click on an existing node it is deleted. Tool tips appear with + or - to show what will happen when you click. Its a nice feature ! 🙂
  4. I have this half moon shape and I want to simultaneously adjust these two vertices: If I use the marquee select tool within the Reshape tool: After selection, the vertices disappear and I'm not selecting anything: If I also marquee around the vertex in the middle: So it seems you can only select multiple vertices that are adjoining. Is that the correct thinking?
  5. Scenario Let's say you want to select some vertices of a polygon, but your window is full of other polygons, so there's no clear space to start dragging the Marquee.Current Solution Apart from panning to find free space (as attached screen recording example-1.mov), you can select the relevant polygon, activate the Reshape tool, then hold the Shift key down and you can start dragging the Marquee from anyway without accidentally selecting one of the other polygons. The Problem The problem is that there's no clue for the user that the Shift key behaves in this way because the cursor does not change to a Marquee cursor when holding the Shift key (as the cursor does if you mouse over free space). And the reason for this is that with the Shift key is still also operating as a modifier for multiple selection. i.e. if you hold the Shift key and simply click on another polygon—rather than drag straight away—then it will select that polygon so that you now have two polygons selected. Suggested Solution Instead of using the Shift key to tell the cursor to ignore other polygons so you can drag a Marquee, use the Option key. This way the Shift key can be dedicated to multiple selection and if the Option key is held down then the cursor can change to a Marquee cursor.
