  1. It would be great to have the ability to change render mode for objects that are using their 3D symbol in the plan view. For example, when drawing lighting trusses that are raked out of level, the 3D symbol is used in plan view, but it is only able to be rendered in wireframe. I would like to be able to render the truss symbol in hidden line while in plan view, as it looks much cleaner. Currently if I change render mode it snaps into top view and the 2D Symbols for all the lighting instruments and lost. Setting background render to hidden line gets closer, but its not the look I'm after.
  2. While editing a 3D symbol we often move the view around the object or change the render mode. But when you exit the edit mode the view orientation and render mode reverts back to what is was before the edit mode was opened. This a bit frustrating because you have to move the view again to what it was while in edit mode. Disrupting the workflow.. a lot. In all the programs we use (Revit/SketchUp etc.) when you exit a 'component'/'model group' the view stays at the same place. It would really help if VW adds the option to keep the view orientation and render mode after exiting the symbol edit mode. Like how it works right now when editing a group in VW. Illustration how it works right now:
  3. We need an Unshaded Polygon No Lines render mode (Hidden Line foreground can be use for lines). Or a Final Unshaded Polygon render mode (which would have Hidden Line built in for lines). I have a large model with many elevations so I need the most resource-efficient way to produce elevations, while very clearly delineating between materials using flat colour. There doesn't seem to be a way to do this. - Shaded Polygon No Lines doesn't work because it includes shading - Unshaded Polygon doesn't work because it renders all lines, which are unwanted - Final Shaded Polygon (which has Hidden Line built into it) doesn't work because it includes shading Renderworks (with everything off except colour + ambient light) is the closest I can get to what I need visually, because unlike Shaded (formerly OpenGL) and Shaded Polygon, RW just mixes in some black for any shading, without changing hue or saturation.
  4. Hi, Unless I have missed it somewhere... would it be possible to add an additional column to the edit save views dialogue so that you can see/set the render mode to multiple views in one go? I have 20 saved views currently set to wireframe, but want to set them to open GL, and possibly later set to a renderworks option. This would seem an ideal place to have that option. At the moment I am recalling each view, changing the render settings and redefining. Thanks, R
  5. I'd love to be able to change the Render Mode for a Saved View from the Edit Saved View pane. This would enable changing the Render Mode for multiple Saved Views at once from the Organization Pane by selecting all views you wish to change and clicking "Edit", just like visible layers and classes can currently be changed. I know that I can edit the Render Mode of a Saved View by right clicking on the View in the Navigation Pane, but to edit multiple views, this requires manually changing the render mode and then Redefining for every view. As we can sometimes have dozens of views set up for walkthroughs of a space, this is a very time consuming process.
