At the moment, to open the 'Class Filters Manager' dialog box you have to first open the Organisation dialog (in itself two clicks since VW2024) then click on the 'Manage Filters...' button. When you have finished you have two dialogs to close. It would be nice if instead you could open the Class Filters Manager directly from the 'Filter' drop-down in the Navigation Palette:

Navigation palette fails to refresh when switching between files
StefanoT posted a question in Troubleshooting
When working on more than one file, it happens to us that navigation palette contents (e.g. layers, classes etc) fails to update/change when switching from one file to another. Let’s say we are working on file “A”: after switching to file “B”, leaving “A” open, navigation palette keeps showing “file A” content while “file B” is active. This seems recurrent in VW2024 (macOS Sonoma), more than it was before. Anyone else experiencing this?- 3 replies

When creating a new file reference through the References tab of the Navigation Palette, a message box appears which begins with the following sentence: Creating a reference to a Vectorworks file in this manner allows you to reference resources from that file via the Resource Manager. After creating references in this way I haven't managed to find any resources from the referenced files in my resource browser, unless the 'old-style layer import referencing' referred to in the third sentence of the message box is activated, in which case all resources, classes and selected layers from the referenced file appear in the current file. I've tested this in Vectorworks Landmark 2022 and 2023 with the same result. Can anyone confirm how the creation of a reference to another Vectorworks file allows its resources to be viewed in the Resource Manager when the default Design layer viewports option is selected in the document's Reference Settings? or perhaps whether the first sentence in the create new reference message box is incorrect for this situation? This question has arisen during training sessions that I provide to local Vectorworks users, and I'd like to be able to provide a clear answer in future. I'm well aware of the Resource Browser's ability to browse other files and import resources from them, so this isn't a workflow problem for me. I've also noticed that the two options in the Reference Settings window under the heading Use this method to reference Vectorworks files:, affects not only .vwx file references, but also .dwg file references. I wonder if that heading would benefit from being updated to include all file types that the settings below it affect. Thanks in advance.

When editing a Class in the Nav Palette the scroll position will reset to the top of the list, losing your position. This is annoying because more often than not after editing a Class in the Nav Palette I then want to edit another Class right next to the one I just edited, so now I have to scroll the list to find where I was again. I'd like the ability to restrict scrolling of the Navigation Palette to be vertical only. I use an Apple Magic Mouse and I'll often accidentally scroll the first three columns out of view. If I want to see some text to the right I'd rather have to widen the palette (or optionally turn sideways scrolling back on). VE-102569

I just ran into a situation where after some updating I wanted to publish just one sheet out of a set of sheets for review purposes instead of publishing the whole set. It would be nice if there would be an option to publish one (or more) selected sheet(s) from within the navigation palette through right-click on selected sheet(s) and select publish. This could then bring up the same publish dialog as usual but then only as a temporary "override" without having to mess with the existing set of sheets by removing not-to-be-published sheets and having to add them again later (yes saving the publish set could be an option if it were not for the constant renaming of sheets that I often face, which renders the feature less useful for me)

I wish that on the Navigation palette there was a one-click option to Update All of the Out-of-Date (red) referenced files. Currently there is only 'Update' and 'Update All', and depending on how many files there are, 'Update All' can be slow (and If they are not out-of-date there is no need to re-update them). It should be a right-click function as well as an option from the triangle pull-down.

It would be handy if the Navigation palette allowed us to sort layers by Z height as well as the current options of Name and Number. It would keep the stacking clearer and cleaner. Similarly and even more valuable in the views ports if we could set the layer stacking order to always be by Z height (name and number auto stack would also be handy). That way as we add layers as the complexity of the project demands these layers will fall in to the mostly the right stacking order without user interaction.
