  1. Hey All, I've just transitioned to using the landscape area tool with components included (layer of mulch, layer of amended soil etc) as opposed to simple texture beds on a site model. When applying these landscape areas to the site model I have run into the issue where the plants still snap to the site model, which is underneath the landscape area components causing me to raise the z value of all plants so they sit correctly on the landscape area. I understand you can arrange bulk planting using the landscape area tool however in some instances we require specific placement of plant symbols. I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue and if a solution has been found, I have included a VW2021 file showing the issue a little clearer as well as screenshots. Thanks in advance for any assistance! Landscape Area Planting Test.vwx
  2. For years, I've been wishing that you could assign different opacities to fill and pen style in a Landscape Area. You can do this with most other objects, but not a landscape area. It would make life a lot simpler as I like drafting with a more transparent fill, while having the pen set to 100%. Basically, I just want to be able to uncheck the "Link Pen Opacity" box in the "Set Opacity" palette.
  3. Hello, Is it possible to set the same landscape areas as different colours on different sheet layouts? For example, I have a class called 'proposed hedges' On my planning drawing I want all landscape areas in this class to have a green fill and dark green line, as this is a coloured layout. On the planting plan I want to use the same hedges but I don't want them to have a fill and I want the line to be black as this is a black and white drawing. For most objects I can select the viewport on the sheet layout and click on the viewport class properties and choose different settings for colours etc just for this viewport. But with landscape areas this doesn't seem to work?? I am using Vectorworks 2019. Thanks.
  4. Hello I am working on a planting plan. We were working on a rotated plan as set by the architect but have decided to change back to a plan with north pointing up for the Planting plan. I have already created a number of landscape areas on the site with the text orientation set for the rotated plan. Is there a simple way I can rotate the text back? For the trees I just selected the rotation in the object info palette and changed it to 0 and the tree and label rotated, which isn't a problem as they rotate on the tree trunk. But if I do this for the landscape area the whole area moves to a different location. Thanks Hainault-PlantingPlanA1NorthUp.pdf
  5. I'm just realizing that my VW Architect doesn't contain some of the basic Site Planning Tools I would expect to find, even for primarily Architectural uses. Is there really no Landscape Area Tool for me to use? Does Vectorworks offer any way for Architects to designate general Site Plan areas (such as pervious and impervious surfaces) using a BIM feature? We need this too. Thanks, Matt
  6. We often use the Create Objects From Shapes... tool to turn regular polys into plug-in objects like hardscapes, landscape areas, etc. Until recently (v2018) this would destroy curvilinear geometry, but now it doesn't. Great work. Now what we need is the ability, somehow, to run a Un-Create Objects from Shapes to go back to the original geometry from the plug-in created. There currently is no way to do this. You can use the Ungroup or Convert to Group commands, but this often results in way too many resulting objects. For example, a very basic hardscape, ungrouped, results in 3-4 identical shapes overlapping, which is impossible to get rid of on large projects. Just a thought.
