  1. Hi When downloading content from a WFS Webservice I sometimes get back the following errormessage: CPLErr( 3 ), err_no( 1 ) /vsicurl_streaming/http://schemas.opengis.net/iso/19139/20070417/gsr/spatialReferencing.xsd:19:39 type 'http://www.opengis.net/gml/3.2:AbstractCRS' not found. You may retry with the HANDLE_MULTIPLE_IMPORTS=YES open option What does it mean? And what can one do about it? Thanks!
  2. I have a couple of WMS links I want to use in VW. All links and layers show up just fine in QGIS, but VW just won't make it. It's constant problems with errors and just blank views. How on earth do I stack several WMS links in VW23 (Designer) so I can use that as background when I do my drawings? Many thanks!
  3. Ability to drape a georeferenced aerial photo or tiled photos onto a site model surface.
  4. When using the feature service to get GIS geometry I noticed a request limit of 2000 objects. When I want to download the 'DKKv4 - Kadastrale Grens' feature service from ArcGIS online, that's the dutch parcel property lines, a lot of geometry isn't being downloaded. This feature service contains a lot of lines so when I zoom out by only a little bit the 2000 limit will be reached. Making this feature not workable. In Qgis using the 'PDOK services plugin' downloading from exactly the same source doesn't seem to be a problem. I've tried other sources like for example the 'BGT - wegdeel' feature service from ArcGIS online. When I zoom out a bit I'm also getting the 2000 objects limit. So it seems that it is not a problem of the source but a limit of Vectorworks? Ping @iborisov Do you know about this limit? Is there a workaround? I'm using VW2022 since version 2023 hasn't been released here.
  5. Anyone had any success with KML export from Vectorworks? Almost got a lovely 3D model into Google Earth Pro, but it comes in about 100m off in terms of location. I think the geo-referencing in Vectorworks is ok... any tips or tricks to get it to work? Note we've already looked at this on Vectorworks University - seems now I don't even have to put the lat/long in, as it's picked up from the document geo-referencing, so I have no control really over location other than this, and my file settings are correct...
  6. As a follow on from my numerous posts about Georeferencing Settings - I thought I'd cracked this and rolled out a workflow, but am now having some pretty fundamental issues in my files which I need to resolve ASAP! Any help much appreciated. I have a master file with document georeferencing switched on (British National Grid), and all layers set as georeferenced. All my xref files have the same internal origin (close to the site) and user origin set to align with georeferencing system. The geo image aligns perfectly with the site. All seems well. However. When I copy and paste in place the same object from one layer to another within the same drawing file - both layers having been georeferenced to the same georeferencing system in the same document - the position of the object shifts? It's very slight and barely noticeable, but measures around 19mm of a difference in position of the same object copy / paste in placed between the two layers. This is a huge issue for us - but I'm not sure if it's an issue with functionality, or just our workflow? Any help or advice gratefully received.
  7. We're working in EPSG 27700, and have a drawing with plenty of content already created. I need to send some of this information out, ideally in EPSG 4326. I have tried to just change the EPSG in the existing document properties... which seems to perform a transformation of my geometry depending on the options for transformation I have selected. However, when I export (for example, an image file with associated georeferencing file,) the export still references EPSG 27700 co-ordinates. Am I doing something wrong here? Does Vectorworks perform georeferencing re-projections like this? (And if so, what's the right workflow?) If not, I can work this out in GIS - I just thought it might be neater to do directly!
  8. Hi Team. In previous versions of Vectorworks Landmark the User Origin is recognised by the shapefile importer & exporter as the 0,0 point for GIS data. This allows shapefiles to be generated directly from drawings which have an offset User Origin through a previous CAD file import (eg. from a civil engineer or surveyor). You simply georeference the layer to the coordinate system of the received CAD file, and export. It also allows a shapefile imported into an existing drawing based on a previously imported CAD file to appear in the correct position, provided that the shapefile and the CAD file share the same coordinate system. In Vectorworks Landmark 2020 I've found so far that both the shapefile import and export functions ignore any User Origin settings, and handle GIS data relative to the Internal Origin only. This prevents a shapefile from being correctly exported from a drawing with an offset User Origin (through previous import of a surveyors CAD file), and results in shapefile data imported into drawings with an offset User Origin appearing at the wrong numerical coordinates within Vectorworks. Perhaps for technical reasons the introduction of the new Geolocate and Geoimage tools required this separation of GIS and CAD workflows, but it certainly seems like a step backwards in terms of CAD/GIS integration. I'd be interested to hear other's thoughts.
  9. I have a geo-referenced file, with geo-referenced data imported. The data in my file all sits in the correct place when I add a Geo-image to check the geo-graphic location - however, the file has never been 'geo-located' - so the internal origin is miles away from the data. If I try to geo-locate now, the data in my file moves position to retain it's offset position to the internal origin, which I don't want. I've tried this with both the geo-referencing turned on for all layers, and also turned off. Is there a way around this?
  10. GIS helps designers make better decisions. This is why Vectorworks, Inc., a global design and BIM software provider and its partner Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, are bringing Esri’s ArcGIS Online services to AEC and landscape professionals, as well as urban planners and urban designers. The solution offers better and quicker access to GIS imagery, data and geometry and the latest technology available in Vectorworks 2020 software, including Vectorworks Architect, Landmark and Designer. “The process of integrating GIS information with a BIM model became tremendously easier with the ability to incorporate data from Esri ArcGIS Online services early in the design process. Further, the resulting georeferenced files make it easy to collaborate,” said Vectorworks Landscape Product Marketing Manager Eric Gilbey, PLA, ASLA. “A broad range of AEC and landscape professionals will benefit from the new integration including those planning with architecture firms or delivering government, master planning or campus planning projects. They’ll notice a much more seamless and direct GIS workflow that is a huge time saver.” With this new solution, designers can utilize access to online mapping and aerial images. This access comes by way of two new Vectorworks tools named Geoimage and Geolocate. With proper geographic coordinates and projection in the Vectorworks file, designers can accurately geolocate their project by simply entering an address. And with a paid ArcGIS Online services plan, customers can access more maps and other imagery directly in Vectorworks. “I love how Vectorworks often takes a user request to the next level, digging deep into the nature of the request and planning far ahead to meet user needs into the future,” said Anna Arbetter, licensed landscape architect at Futurity, Inc. “As an Esri user, the similarity to the ArcGIS environment makes Vectorworks even more of an asset for us. We use GIS extensively and incorporate it into every project. The streaming imagery service allows us to instantly assess whether our project data has shown up in the right location. The new method for setting the project location at 0,0 means we can use a standardized template that includes sheet viewports without the need to adjust viewports to each particular project location.” Learn more about the new solutions from Vectorworks by visiting the Vectorworks 2020 website.
  11. I have two files containing baseline information for my project - Topographic Survey and Architect's Layout. Both have been imported from DWG into their own new VW files, and georeferenced according to the procedure detailed in the previous georeferencing thread on this forum. I can Geo-image in both of these files and the drawings fit beautifully over the site. I now want to reference the information in these drawings into a new master file, using the design layer viewport referencing system, so that I can use the information to inform my own drawing. However, when I try to do this... while the X Y positions of the drawings remain correct, the GIS stake shows that the design layer viewport referenced layers, when created, are nowhere near the geo-located positions set in their original files. Am I missing something really straightforward? Any help much appreciated.
  12. Hello Site Design forum members. Have you been implementing any workflows which integrate with GIS data, imagery and/or geometry? If so, please reach out to us at landmark@vectorworks.net . As many of you know, we have recently joined Esri's partnership program as a Silver Tier Partner. Through this, we have several opportunities to reach other design professionals like you who are looking to improve their site analysis and planning workflows, but less aware of how GIS and related geospatial resources enable them to do that within Vectorworks. We believe that sharing your workflow examples could inspire them to do just that. The recent release of Vectorworks Landmark, Architect and Designer 2020 introduced new GIS integration features, such as Geolocate and Geoimage, which can save a great amount of time in providing georeferencing to a file, or in adding visual context for the planning work you are including as part of your project deliverables. Prior to this year's release, and still certainly available, is the ability to import georeferenced shapefile (SHP) data and georeferenced image files, such as GeoTIFF, TFW, JGW, BPW, etc.. Designers using Vectorworks could not only import those files, but they could modify them in 2D visualizations and in 3D models, allowing them to quickly add context into the projects which they are designing. So, whether you have some examples to share from the workflows we have offered before the 2020 release, or perhaps you have already been putting the 2020 new features to use, please let us know by emailing us by this Friday, October 18, and we will follow up with some communication about the potential of showing off your expertise and improved workflows. Thank you for your time in considering this opportunity. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, Eric Eric Gilbey, PLA Product Marketing Manager
  13. Is there a way to move a GIS stake to a defined co-ordinate position? For example, with a normal stake, you can place a stake, and then amend the X, Y details to move it to an accurate position. Can you do the same with a GIS stake, to identify a particular co-ordinate position, i.e. 257850E, 667750N (British Grid) - without having a line or point on the drawing already in this position to snap to?

  16. My client has an office in China and evidently use a different project or at least one offset from WGS-84. Would it be possible to get some guidance or an update that will add China to the list under Plate Carree, Ellipsoid GCJ-02 coordinate system?
  17. Hi, is there anything similar to multipart polygon? I want to import a shapefile containing a couple hundred polygons with records attached. I can custom select by different records, but than i want to make the similar ones "work" as one polygon for later work. Making a group is not an option, because after exporting the group that forgets the attached records. Does anyone have any solution for this or it is not coded in VW at all to work with multipart polygons?! Thanks!
  18. I used shape files for many years and leveraged them to get projects started and prepare analysis. I can't seem to find anything that covers importing Geo-Referenced Ortho Photos. Can anyone help?
  19. When trying to map an aerial photo to a site model there has to be a better way that through the creation of a renderworks image texture for the aerial and then mapping it to the surface. It is inaccurate, cumbersome, and quite frankly a stupid way to do something seemingly quite simple. There should be a way to take an existing geo-located aerial photo and "DRAPE" it over a site model.
  20. We are trying to propose on a project that requires a fairly regulated interchange with certain GIS shapefile standards. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience exporting shapefiles (.shp) and if so, have you ever had to meet any standards? The requirements of our interchange are as follows: DIGITAL SUBMISSION STANDARDS: §The required format for digital submissions of the graphic data is an ESRI v10.4.1 shapefile or Geodatabase (personal or file) §Must be projected in NAD 83 CA State Plane V §Must contain FDGC and City compliant metadata (See section 08 for Metadata template) §Documentation on any MXDs or Domains created§Should be topologically correct against City data §Provide validation documentation (topologies, data quality checks)
