  3. Global design and BIM software provider Vectorworks, Inc. will solidify its place at the forefront of the entertainment industry with the pending acquisition of connectCAD, a systems design solution geared for the audiovisual (AV) industry. Since 2009, connectCAD has been offered as a plug-in for Vectorworks software, offering the ability for designing broadcast, AV, lighting and IT networks or any other type of connected system. connectCAD ensures that as-built drawings and cable lists exactly match the completed cabling architecture, avoiding expensive or even impossible reworking with other methods. connectCAD is used worldwide to design and coordinate complex AV installations such as exhibitions, casinos, conferences, churches, staging events and theme parks, as well as broadcast systems, IT and telecom infrastructure. Additionally, anyone involved in design, installation and connection of electrical and electronic systems can benefit from the powerful combination of connectCAD and Vectorworks. “connectCAD has been a great partner product for Vectorworks over the years and has gradually built a product for Vectorworks that creates a powerful, yet intuitive interface for generating audiovisual system designs and reports,” said Vectorworks CEO Dr. Biplab Sarkar. “In response to the growing audio needs for our customers, connectCAD was an obvious choice because it’s a high-quality product that naturally extends our AV capabilities for our users.” As part of the pending acquisition, connectCAD Founder, Managing Director and Programmer for the tools, Conrad Preen will be committing to a minimum of two years with Vectorworks to continue the development of connectCAD. “Part of the Vectorworks family, connectCAD is poised to enter a new era and will be able to realize its true potential,” said Preen. “We’re looking forward to introducing many new features in the coming years with the expertise of Vectorworks engineers fine-tuning our existing features. As in human enterprise, teamwork is the key to great results, and I can think of no better team than Vectorworks.” Part of the acquisition, the first priority will be to convert all Vectorscript tools and commands to C++ using Vectorworks SDK, thus enhancing the performance of the connectCAD plug-in. Once completed, connectCAD will be offered as an add-on module for Vectorworks Spotlight or Designer in English and German. Completion of the first phase will be during the Vectorworks 2020 version cycle. Beginning June 12 through June 14, connectCAD will be on display in Orlando, FL at InfoComm 2019, which is deemed the audiovisual and integrated experience event. To learn more about the pending acquisition and technology, visit the Vectorworks booth #7672. To purchase or learn more about connectCAD, visit connectcad.com.
  4. Hi all, I think this bug hase been reported previously, but it's still there. The OIP dies = doesn't display the selected object, this happens occasionally. The remedy is to close the file and re-open. Any info on a correctional update? Thanks
  5. I am a sole practitioner looking for VW Landmark or Designer 2015 or higher for sale. You can email direct at donna@pulsefitnesssb.com
  6. Hi all, This might not be particular to 2019, since we've only started to use this functionality with 2019. The interior elevations are extremely slow. Not only rendering times are huge but even if we change the name of the elevation from B to BB for instance, the program freezes for a long time - without any actual viewport updating taking place. The elevations are very simple washroom walls etc. Not much geometry in them, and most of it is simple. We also encounter several crashes a day with interior elevations. Currently we are not using project sharing. I'd like to know how is this going for others? Someone more successful than us?
  7. Hi all, If the window hinge direction marker is set to "handle" (as is customary where I live), custom sash preview window always displays a flipped preview. Makes choosing handedness mighty confusing! Is there a setting to overcome this or is this a bug?
  8. When I attempt to start VWx Remote Server, the application stops working and closes. (Even after a system restart) I'm running Designer 2018 Build 401138 on a Windows machine. Is anyone else having this issue?
  9. Hi, I can't find a solution to the following: I have a colour pdf from a client that I need to display on a sheet layer. However, I need to publish to b/w for council approval. None of the controls seem to have any effect on the outcome; the viewport is set to b/w, publish is set to b/w but the resulting pdf still is in colour. The rest of the pdf with VW graphics is b/w as it should be. What am I not noticing?
  10. Hi all, I'm encountering the following: The options for textures intermittently disappear from walls. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not. There have been no changes made to the wall style. As I mentioned in a previous post, there is an issue with the world z not affecting the surface hatch, as well. Any ideas?
  11. Hi, I'm encountering zoom issues with a floating viewport. Previously this worked fine. Please see attached. I can't see my grade objects unless I zoom way back.
  12. Hi, I wonder what I'm doing wrong: I have two walls on different design layers with different elevations/heights. Previously, surface hatches have aligned nicely if "use world z for origin" has been checked. Now, it doesn't have any effect on the hatch. What might be overriding the setting?
  13. Hi all, I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this issue. While dimensioning walls, we encounter these strange orange double lines. They seem to be some kind of display artefacts, since nothing can be found where they are. Screenshots attached.
  14. Hi all, We have encountered a pdf zoom issue suddenly. On a file that previously worked fine, zooming in on an underlying, imported pdf shifts the pdf sideways, significantly. The pdf doesn't actually move, but the display is incorrect. Zooming out remedies the situation. Previously the file worked fine. This occurs on at least two different pc setups. One user reported this after a windows update today. We've updated the graphics card drivers, restarted etc. but no help there. A sample file attached. PDF_Zoom_issue_sample.vwx
  15. Hi, I have a 2018 Designer License with Renderworks for sale. I purchased it from Vectorworks on 11/27/17 and realized I won't be using it and would like to sell it. I spoke with the account rep today and it just requires a transfer form to be filled out and turned in to the company. Make me an offer worthwhile. I will update this post once it's sold. UPDATE: THIS HAS BEEN SOLD
  16. Happy to use VW2014 or similar to keep costs down as its just for a bit of private work (have used VW2014 at a practice for many years). I have a trial version of VW2014 installed, just need the license now. UK based. Thanks.
