  1. I hope Vectorworks is working on a counterpart of Autodesk Data Exchange, Rhino.Inside and Speckle. The USD import/export is great we need a 'raw data' level of authoring interoperability. Admittedly, Autodesk is leading the charge on the cloud collaboration but they are obviously Autodesk-centric. Revit is an awesome platform for architects but for our experience as landscape architects and urban designers; Vectorworks is miles ahead. However, consequently, we, as any other consultants, we find our selves working with Revit based architects and it takes us additional steps to align with the Autodesk-based BEPs which is not necessarily efficient. so, in the name of interoperability, not to mention OpenBIM and Open Standards. This feature in Vectorworks will bump the software even more to the top.
  2. In VWX 21 my plot contains all relevant data. When exported to LW6 latest stable release, all data except instrument type is imported. What's up with that I wonder (& I can't wait to field the call from the Ltg Sup who's opening that package right about now…) All thoughts, ideas, notions, hacks, workarounds, etc gladly accepted.
  3. Is there a way to get VW2017 Spotlight to utilize the same universe/dmx address configuration as LW6? For example, I will setup the address format in LW using the 2/001 or 2.001 naming convention indicating universe and dmx address within the same record vs. separate text to records for each. (used to do this with the dimmer record in instrument numbering of Spotlight) With the data exchange active VW2017 imports that universe/dmx information as absolute addressing (2/001 = 513). Some plots (my current plot has 25 universes) get quite complex with a great deal of record information associated per fixture. And depending on fixture orientation readability can get confusing if I have to include the universe and dmx address classes as separate records on the individual fixtures. Still working through VW 2017 and LW6 with other issues but those topics will have to wait.
  4. I have a VWX file & Lightwright file linked via the XML file for data exchange, but as I make edits in LW, I get an alert "Cannot create Dudley's LP v2017.xml Data Exchange has been turned off" This happens even if I start a new LW file with the same data. I'm almost at the point where I can turn data exchange off, but ... it is a rather large inconvenience. This was a VWX file that started in v2016 and was updated to v2017 after the scenic updates started getting pushed to me in v2017.I'm also crossposting this in the Lightweight forum to see if anyone bites there. Thanks,Simon
