Hello guys, Just starting to use VW Landmark 2018 with SP1 (PC Windows 10). Every time I edit the contours for the proposed site model (double-click in the site model - "Proposed Site Model Contours") I make the alterations and, when I exit the yellow window, VW just crashes, no error log, it goes straight for the Windows Error window. Same applies even if I don't do any alterations to the model. Anyone with the same error? Suggestions about what to do? Thanks, João Rodrigues

Hi, wondering if anyone has encountered this or knows of a solution: When I enable custom object info palette for a plugin object with vs.SetObjPropVS( vs.kObjXPropHasUIOverride, True ) #8 I find that trying to change the value of radio buttons in the object info palette crashes vectorworks. I have inserted all of the widgets with vs.vsoInsertAllParams() I'm not trying to do anything crazy; I am really just trying to get some separators onto the OIP. I am handling Event 41 as guided by the wiki: ... elif theEvent == vs.kObjOnWidgetPrep: #41 UpdateParametersState() ... def UpdateParametersState(): vs.vsoSetEventResult( vs.kObjectEventHandled ) #-8 Changing the value of other parameters in the OIP, including numeric fields and checkboxes, works fine. Most importantly, I see the same behavior when I try the example plugin provided at http://developer.vectorworks.net/index.php/Python_Sample_Point_Object_(complex) If I click the radio button for Male / Female in this PIO's info palette, vectorworks crashes. This leads me to think there is more going on than bad code in my own object. I am running VW2017 SP4 on Mac OS X El Capitan -
When I use the Align and Distribute Items tool in Spotlight, Vectorworks crashes. Thoughts?

A couple recent experiences acted like crashes, but were not: 1. I have my auto save/backup set for 25 operations. If I don't see the dialog for a while I get worried. I finally noticed that the box was checked for “Don’t backup this document for the remainder of the session”. I would not intentionally checkmark this.The check box is placed on opposite side of the dialog window from the Save/Yes button, so not likely a misplaced click. If the box was checked, why would the dialog appear after the 25 operations? Makes me think I made some click or key combo right at the moment the auto save dialog launched causing the checkmark. Or some intermittent bug at vwx launch or dialog launch that defaults the autosave to Don’t backup. Or other process that will unintentionally enable this Don’t backup pref. Anyone else seeing this? 2. Vectorworks became partially unresponsive recently. The arc tool in 3 point mode would only allow the 1st click. Arc could not be completed. But I could activate the select tool and select things. I saved (cmd S) and closed vwx expecting to at least restart vwx and maybe restart the system. Buuuut, right under the vwx window was a push update dialog for Google Earth. Dismissed the Google window, reopened vwx, everything worked fine. I wonder if some push request windows or other auto opening apps would cause vwx to become unresponsive or impaired until the app is closed/dismissed. Something to watch for. -B

2017 Spotlight crashes when adjusting lighting fixture shutter

I'm trying to adjust the shutter on an ETC Source 4 19deg and whenever I click "OK", Vectorworks immediately crashes. Same response when trying to evenly space fixtures on a pipe (an issue I know is already known). Any input here?

Hi all, Followed the Vectorworks video online https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4znYJ8qCxcg&index=16&list=PLiLCoe7DU1HZZEmPKJoBCLBGNPnMhZfTp in an attempt to apply gobo textures into my drawing. In the "Edit Lighting Device" dialogue, I click the "Get Resource" button, select the gobo texture I imported, clicked OK once to exit the "Import External Resource" pop up. On the next click on the OK button to exit the "Edit Lighting Device" dialogue, Vectorworks immediately crashes. I am currently on Vectorworks 2017, with a mid 2012 Retina MacBook Pro. We have been trying to use the new Irrigation tools in VW2017, but are having some extreme difficulties. On top of the speed issues associated with a network recalculating after every adjustment, we have recently been experiencing repeated crashes while performing what should be basic commands. I have uploaded a screenshot video that shows the workflow and the associated crashes. It seems to happen everytime an object is connected to a pipe (i.e. valve, pipe connection, outlet, etc.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cDlr0QQtKK

hi, I bought vectorworks 2016 and seem to be having some problems. Whenever I am using vw, the software crashes very often. I have logged some days and it seems to happen about every hour, and this every time I use vw. I have tested having vw be the only running application, but that doesn't change anything; vw still crashes roughly every hour. can someone help please? It's very annoying working like this! greetings, Julie

When closing VWorks 2017 occasionally we will experience a crash, seeming right before the program closes. All open files are already saved and closed and we are just exiting the program...it crashes????? Seems odd.

I am currently running VWX 2017 SP2 on Mac, but have encountered a problem. Whenever I insert a 3D Lighting instrument and a focus point, and go to focus the light to the point, VWX crashes and closes down. I have tried a few different things but cant seem to fix this... got a few plans going out this week so could do with sorting it! thanks for any feedback which could help me! -
We have been experience a repeated crash in VW2017 when editing callouts and keynote legends using a database. Many of these problems are happening in files that started in VW2016 and have since moved over. The problem happens when editing text in the database, just prior to updating a keynote legend. I have uploaded a screenshare video that shows a couple of crashes related to this problem. I aplogize for the poor quality, but you still should be able to follow the workflow. It should be noted that we have been managing callouts in this fashion for some time and have only had problems in VW2017!

Hi, The attached symbol crashes Vectorworks Spotlight whenever I double click it. All of my other symbols seem to be fine. I recently moved from Mac to PC, and wonder if there is something odd in the conversion. Many thanks. Test 2.vwx

Morning all and Happy New Year! Unfortunately have run into another crash, this time when opening a certain file. The file opens happily in vwx 2016, but upon trying to open in 2017 it crashes vwx at the 'updating plugin objects...' phase. This seems to point towards a similar problem I posted a while back, where trying to print certain sheets in some files crashed vwx, unless 'Reset all plugin objects which need resetting prior to printing...' is unchecked. Screenshot attached below (taken a fraction of a second before the crash), I can send the file over private mail if that is useful.

I just started playing around with 2017 tonight. The first thing I did was to open the file for the show I'm working on right now. Crash. Restarted VW and tried again. Crash. I have not been able to open that file after about six tries...it crashes every time. I tried opening a backup of the file from a week ago, and it crashed as well. I tried a file from my previous show and it opened fine, so it would appear that something in the current file. The current file was originally started from the previous show file. I cannot post the file here, since it's of a confidential set, but is there somewhere at VW I can send it for testing?

Hello, I have an issue with my new MacBook Pro 15" with Touch Bar and VW 2016 (student version). I installed VW 2016 after a clean install on macOS Sierra 10.12.1, updated the software on SP4 version and when I launch it, the software crashes while loading, more precisely when the pop-up menu "You are using an educational version of Vectorworks" and I click "OK". I already tried to uninstall and reinstall it. I also tried to launch the software without doing the SP4 upgrade (SP1). Same result. And I don't have yet access to VW 2017… Do you have any idea to solve my problem ? Thank you very much !

Hi, I feel I'm spending a lot of time on here reporting problems at the moment! Latest issue, after installing SP2 my file seems to be crashing whenever I send to print. Its a pretty instantaneous crash, as opposed to a lock-up or similar. At least one other person in my office has had this problem with a different file too. Anybody else suffering from this? Edit: Trial and error shows this only happening on certain sheets, but happens consistently on those sheets. Also turning off 'Reset all plugin objects which need resetting prior to printing...' option appears to stop the crashing, so looks related to plugins (of which I don't have any additional non-vanilla installed).

When I open one document it opens fine, but when I try to open a second document it crashes. Is this a known issue? Any fixes? System: Win10 64bit Geforce 980ti

I get a crash everytime I want to assign symbols to another layer or a new layer: - select symbol - chose OIP Layer, new design layer - rename the Layer - Enter - CRASH Anyone else has this problem ???

I convert a VW 2016 origin Project to VW 2017. I cleaned up several secondary Files successfully already. (Plugin Update, Plugin Reset, Purge) But the main File where I did the same cleaning procedure at the beginning, I needed to manually move some Objects to other Layers and delete some Layers used for now unneeded Versions. After deleting the included Geometry, Purge always crashed. I deleted the Layers manually but Purge Tool still crashes each time after I accept the 2nd Window. Has any one else Purge Tool crashing too, with converted VW 2016 Files ? Is this "Change Layer Bug" related ? File unfortunately under NDA. But full low privacy extended crash details and usage patterns delivery activated.

Vectorwoks 2016 Keep Crashing because of complex 3D model

I made a very complicated 3D model like honeycomb but with swept object subtracted. And I duplicated the cell about 200 times then merged into a huge plate with honeycomb structure. The file size reaches 536mb when I saved it. But today when I came to work, it kept cashing when I tried to switch to this layer after I opened it. Vectorworks App kept not responding then quite spontaneously. Sometimes my system cashes also, blackout then restarted. Here is the hardware I use, maybe they are just not good enough? -
Window crash glitch sinnce project share conversion 2016

We are having trouble in a project share file. Vectorworks crashes when you try to click into the settings or double click on any window within the model. This even happens to windows that have just been created. Do you have any suggestions as to how to fix this? We are currently working in VW2016 SP3
