  1. Vectorworks 2017 has a new way to look for resources, the Resource Manager. This new palette is not just an updated Resource Browser. It is completely new. It is embedded all over Vectorworks. This means that whenever you look for a resource, the Resource Manager will appear. The Resource Manager can look for files on your computer, in your favorite files, in your user folder, your workgroup folder, in the Vectorworks libraries (some are on your computer and some are online), and in the Vectorworks Service Select (VSS) subscription libraries. The Files area is for choosing the source file. This is where you can choose a library file, an online file, etc. When you have selected a file, the middle pane will show you all the resources that are available in that file. When you select a resource, a preview of the resource will appear in the Preview pane. If there is data attached to the resource it will appear in the Data pane. It looks like there are a lot of places to find resources in the Files pane. The buttons above the Files area allow you to show or hide the areas. For example the star is the Favorites. If you deactivate the star, you will turn off the favourites. If you deactivate the cloud, you will turn of the cloud resources. You can reorder the list of file locations by dragging them up and down. I worked with Novedge on a webinar called The Best Bits of Vectorworks 2017. You can watch the webinar here (http://www.novedge.com/webinar/219) . The first 20 minutes cover the Resource Manager. For more information on the Resource Manager, check out the What's New in Vectorworks 2017 manual. Vectorworks Training Courses - Now Online! ------------------------------------------------------------ High-quality training is the key that unlocks the power of Vectorworks for you. My training used to take the form of printed manuals, but these were often slow to be printed, expensive to ship, and difficult to update. My training is now available as a series of online courses. These courses use online videos which are available everywhere, easy to update, and don't require printing or shipping. I also notice that schools and universities are moving to online systems for their education resources. Because there are no printing costs, I have been able to reduce the cost of these courses – They are now very reasonably priced at $49US each. Click below to find out more! Choose Your Course Now! Each month I have a free webinar that will show you the resources on my website. This will also show you the way that I present information in the way that we can interact. Upcoming Workshop Sessions ------------------------------------------------------------ The main workshop topic for November is Interior Design. You might think that this topic is about kitchen design. We will be looking at a kitchen, but more than that – We will also be looking at drawing a quick plan, demolishing walls, and creating special joinery units (bookcase). We will using a 3D workflow and creating the drawings from the model. We will use the new interior elevations command to create the interior wall elevations. Also add the upcoming December sessions to your calendar. These are the end of year sessions where we go over what we have covered throughout this year and plan what we want to cover next year. Book Now... What Is The Point of A Special Interest Group? ------------------------------------------------------------ Not learning how to use Vectorworks effectively? You need to attend the special interest groups. These groups are designed for users that want to learn how to get the best from Vectorworks, that want to learn how to move from a 2D methodology to BIM workflow, that want to learn more about 3D modeling, Landmark, or Architect. The thing that makes these groups especially useful is that they are interactive. This means that when you attend, you get to talk to the other people that are there. These sessions are not like a lecture where one person talks down to you; these are interactive sessions where we all joined together and make sure we understand what is being covered. They are great, collaborative, supportive sessions with like-minded colleagues. Many users want a reminder about attending these Special-Interest groups. Click on the button below and book your sessions for the rest of the year. Once you book, you will receive an email confirmation and there are links to add the session to your calendar software. You will also received email reminders that the sessions are approaching. Join Now... or or you are a subscriber, Book Now...
