What version of VW are you currently running - is it 2018 as per your signature?

Sorry - I didn't realize I still have a signature. I can't figure out where that is located to change it.

    I am running VW2022 SP3 on a 14-inch MacBook Pro M1 Max.

Reading these considerations sincerely worries me a little. I thought it was a recent problem but I see that it is one of those problems that have been known for years. I have been running VB-183608 for months and it has been considered, but not fixed. It is clearly some major improvement that could be made. The biggest problem is that today it is not possible to update so many viewports during a period of user inactivity, such as overnight. Can you tell us on which files exactly this problem was happening to you? PS: I already reset user preferences hundred times.

    Thank you

I think I may have done a clean install of VW to resolve the problem. It was obvious that others weren't having this issue, so there was a specific problem with mine. I believe I first made a new user and did a clean install to test it. It's definitely some kind of corruption in your set up because this type of memory leak is not typical for most users. I haven't had the problem come up since then and my projects have only gotten bigger with more complex renderings since then.

on my experience, section viewport rendering takes max 30-35 gb and then they are correctly calculated. If I don’t turn off vw and reopen the file to do a second render, the memory going over 50. From 50  the memory request incres up to 190 GB but every time (trust me, there are months i’m trying to find a solution) without success. So: 35 GB after reopen vw, or 190 GB with s collaps

I went back and found that my memory leak problems (exactly like yours) started in VW2017 SP4 and it seemed to continue through VW 2019. I actually don't know how it resolved itself because I didn't post a solution in that thread. But it was suggested to reset VW preferences.

  4. @line-weight I used to have to do that with VW2020 and maybe VW2021 but I don’t exactly recall when that problem went away for me.

I just looked at the Activity Monitor while rendering in VW2022 on my MacBook Pro M1 Max, and it looks like after each rendering is done, it releases the memory so I don’t run out.

I’m sorry I don’t have any advice for you, but I’m glad that problem went away for me.

  5. Just got off the phone with Service Select Priority Support. She said I needed to go to Help > Download Content and then install the Library that I want to use. It seems idiotic that I have to download the entire library to use it. I used to be able to just download a single symbol from the Resource Manager. It such an incredible waste of resources on my laptop.

  6. I missed that last one. I was really hoping that would work. My permission was already set to Read & Write and I highlighted it and choose Apply to Enclosed Items. But still stuck at the download pop up. Sometimes I get an error message but it is rare. Usually I need to force quit.

  7. Thank you @Jeremy Best for the advice.

    1. MacOS Firewall is off.

    2. I don't have anti virus software.

    3. I have a T-Mobile 5G Home Internet router. I've had it for almost 9 months so I don't think that is the problem unless T-Mobile made a change to it remotely. The app for managing it does not contain any information pertaining to firewall configurations.

    4. I work from home so there is no corporate network firewall or configurations.

I still can not download any online resources. At a loss for what to do...

  8. When I try to download symbols from Advance Tabco, the download progress bar appears, but doesn't move. I eventually (if I'm lucky) get an error message "Vectorworks was unable to download the online resources from (packages.vectorworks.net/2022/NNA/eng/resourcemanager/release/Objects - Building Equip_Appliances/Advance Tabco Faucets and Acc.vwx). Please check your internet connection." Without the error message, I can't cancel and the spinning rainbow ball doesn't stop.

My internet connection is fine. Any idea what could be causing this issue?

Can anyone else replicate this issue?

    I'm using VW2022 on a M1 Max MacBook Pro.

@JuanP based on that info and what I'm reading in this thread, I guess it's pretty safe to say "not currently compatible". Going to wait to upgrade to Monterey. Is there a way users can get notified when it's "SAFE" to upgrade?

What you are reading here may be skewed towards people having problems, as people who are not having issues, don't go to the forums. I have a new 14" MacBook M1 Max and I use it with one external display simultaneously with the notebook display. I am fortunate and not seeing the issues other people are. It's going to really depend on your setup and comfort level with upgrading. Those who play it the safest wait a year before upgrading (when macOS 13 comes out, you upgrade to macOS 12).

    Hello to everyone

sorry for not reading all the posts, but I noticed that on my 16" M1max will I keep Monterey and need to do big models on Vectorworks. Can someone tell me where are the big unresolved issues? Thanks and apologies

I'm using VW2022 on a 14" MacBook Pro M1 Max with an external monitor and haven't had any issued since I transitioned 10 days ago. Others may have different experiences. The largest project I am working on is a 3-story community center (17,000sf) with an almost 700 mb file size.

Can anyone give me a benchmark comparison  about the new M1 Max chip, vs a base Macpro trashcans with 32gb ram. ?

I had a Mac Pro (Late-2013) 6 core with 64 gb ram. Yesterday, I got a MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021) M1 Max with 32 GPU and 64 gb ram and wasted no time in setting it up.

I ran the same rendering on the Mac Pro and the MacBook Pro. It rendered 2.7x faster. Amazing to see such speed from a notebook computer. Now you don't have to choose between power and mobility. One computer can do it all!

  13. I have a class for existing walls where the fill is set to white and a separate class for new walls where the fill is set to grey.

In both Shading and RW, the new walls are rendering darker than existing walls.

All walls are set to render By Object and Overall set to the texture Paint-White (with all faces set to From Overall).

Wall type is the same for both walls.

Is this a bug or is there something else I should be looking at?

I (probably) agree with you.. but I can't help but hope that the rumor mills are on to something..

An M1 Max Mini would be a super hot seller.. so there's that..

There will definitely be a high end Mac mini to replace the high end Intel Mac mini which is still for sale. But I would expect a high end iMac to appear first. You may be waiting until next summer to see it... And if that is the case, it might just be an M2 and not an M1 Pro or Max.
