My two cents on this discussion, I just started using sketchup again and found that it is 100 times more pleasurable to model and develop designs than in VW. I have used VW since god knows when, maybe 10 years. 2d is fine but I trying to develop a profitable workflow taking advantage of the 3D/BIM tools takes sooooooo long that I keep spending crazy time. Coordination, with classes, tools that change with all upgrades. I lost my mojo and would like to get an idea of reasonable workflow for residential work. I feel like I am reinventing the wheel each time. Anybody actually design in 3D and produces 2D drawings from that for CDs? with all the "intelligent" section numbers, drawing lists, schedules etc.... Can someone refer me to a reasonable workflow for that kind of work?

VW is shipped with all kind of libraries, how do I keep my stuff easy to find from release to release? Please advise Thanks

I am confused as to how and where to organized or find wall types to reuse from VW upgrades. Where do I create details, wall types, rendering types etc... Would custom woorkspaces be helpful, where should I save them and are they useable from upgrade to upgrade? Is there a video showing this ? Thank you

I think you need to change units of your preferences to metric.

For example if I use the "Move" command, the cursor is on X and I used to move it to the Y field by pressing on the Tab key (in VW12). This is not working anymore. I looked but could not find where to set this up in VW13. Any suggestion? THX

Why do i need to click at least twice to switch between the Building Shell tool set and the 3D Modeling tool set? Is this a bug?

I agree with the setup that you mention and I turn the siding and sheathing of to snap to the framing. My question had to do with the appropriate class to draw the wall assembly on. I am not sure which I should use or if auto-classing would be the best, let VW decide.

I think that the issue is having the window on the 1stfloor walls and looking at the second floor plan where they will not appear. Am i understanding correctly?

I like to turn off sheathing and drywall layers to dimension to framing. Which class should I use to draw my walls and be able to see the frame part when I need?

Isn't a 3d model a 2D object with an extrusion and if so how does VW separate 2D from 3D in Hybrid objects? Isn't there a prefered class (0)to create symbols on?
