  1. Yes it seems there is a disconnect between 3D modeling (getting better) and 2D graphic standards. I sometimes think that the BIM reporting aspect of VW is worth the headaches of resolving the 2D/3D issues but then I realize that the quality of Sketchup Layout really without BIM is largely satisfying. The balance in favor of VW is the Sheet Layer which is right in the same application but then again, you have to update the viewports! Rant over, going back to voting.
  2. It should be easy to find references of this, sketchup, revit...
  3. I also would like to see that option added to the elevations where I like to have a thicker silhouette line.
  4. I think that the issue can be that the wall type exterior lines are not setup to the correct thickness. I know I updated that for my walls recently and that may be the answer. I think I remember that you control the line weight in the wall type OI
  5. I personaly think that the default user library setup is a drag and makes saving references difficult. With the issue of VW version on top, I don't really use this system of reusing resources and loose a lot of time resetting everything. Please update this and make it more straightforward, Thx
  6. total agree, the housekeeping report should not be necessary
  7. My frustration has to do with not being able to leave the orbit tool and have the object selected, same with zoom. Also, since i don't have a num pad, I can't access the various views that the numpad directs to. Also, frustrating
  8. I agree the doors AND windows need to be rethought as the complexity of the OI is such that while I make the effort to use the parameters given I cannot be satisfied that I will get what I need. Very frustrating
  9. I cant seem to avoid seeing the door tags front and back in my elevations, even the ones behind walls. what am i doing wrong?
  10. My guess is that you have to add to your symbol a text field that you link to the record field of the symbol and that should then appear on your instance on the drawing. Let me know if that works. Best CF
  11. I created a new title block but I am not sure as to what controls the fonts used in the title block, it does not seem that the fonts used in the symbol stay as attributed once I insert the title block in a drawing. For example the fonts can be changed for most of the texts once in the drawing by changing the font from the font drop down menu with the title block is selected. At that time the fonts that I attributed in the symbol are not kept but are replace by the font selected in the drawing. The only fonts that seem not to change are the ones used in the "issue" and "revision" block. Am I doing something wrong? Here is my Title block.vwx
  12. Is there a way to increase the size of the fonts used by VW in menus and OIPs? My eyes are getting less sharp and although the screens have become larger the fonts don't seem to.
  13. Wes, what happens if my spaces have already been created, I cannot add multiple space labels later on?
  14. I guess this has come back, using visibility tool by class, the toilets appear selected even where they are not (outside the building...)
  15. I guess I will answer my own question 1&2, both controls are in the respective door and window style settings under jamb depth. As far as the outline of the cut wall, still not sure, if I hide the wall details the wall thickness includes the baseboard !
  16. In the image plan below you can see the trim at 3/4" for both window and cased opening. I see three issues here: 1/ the window, in blue trim is not on top of the drywall layer of the wall (the outside layer of the wall is the base plate which is below the window) Can I arrange this properly to 4 3/4" 2/The door in grey has trim which is inside the thickness of the drywall. Can I arrange this properly to 4 3/4" 3/ The wall cut line should be 4 3/4" also and the baseboard should have a thinner line shouldn't it? window_trim.vwx
  17. Gosh these stories drive me crazy, my walls and the windows in them are not based on the same heights, I think i need a fresh set of eyes here. Thank you Amerchem_exist.vwx
  18. it is much easier for basic modeling, just remember to group things and you will be fine.
  19. 3D Conversion need to be at higher resolution, I think JimW has it right
  20. I have seen this in sketchup also and I remember reading that it is related to how close you are from the model in perspective view. Is VW doing the same thing now is surprising. Could this be inherited from SKP?
  21. Interesting design, I am not sure how to do that in vectorworks. I personally would do it in Sketchup but maybe the new division option of VW would be fine. Good luck
