I am not able to export complete model (all layers) to 3ds. I tried to check and uncheck all relevant boxes but only active layer geometry is exported .. (layer navigation is set to Show/Snap/Modify Others..)

I don't find that very exciting to be honest. I can't place my finger on why, but it doesn't look as good as SolidWorks or SpaceClaim. Besides, just before the circles are isolated, the screen goes all blochy because of his navigation and I find that messy. Let's see what else vw2011 has to offer. Just my 2c I found interesting the way 2011 new features are promoted Demonstrated push/pull isn't as flexible as in SU or Spaceclaim but it's small step in the right direction ..

Interesting, you have to create your elevation viewports from section viewports to get correct - hidden line dwg export..

Try to convert copy of your viewport into hidden lines. It will create group of lines - 2D elevation drawing, which can be scaled etc. It could be less confusing.
