  1. Bruce, your right it does not work. In any view. What are the circumstances where you need to convert a 3D object (2D on a given 3D Plane) to a screen object?
  2. Now that I'm aware it's driving me crazy! Thanks Bruce!
  3. Benson, thanks for the pic's and the explanation. It now clarifies the issue for me. I haven't really noticed an issue with this at all. until now! Its is not major for me but now that I am aware it will probably drive me nuts. And yes, WHY THE CHANGE? Thanks (or not) for the info
  4. alright, I'll bite. what exactly is the issue. that may sound like a dumb question but I think I may be missing something you are explaining. I see the lower cross bar on the text insertion pointer. but I have not noticed an issue with selecting text. Do you have any other specifics?
  5. This is where I usually Dim. However be prepared when you use a VP to show a scale radically different than what you originally designed in as your witness arrow will be either really big or really small. I would Dim on separate layer or class then if necessary you could use annotation viewport to achieve proper sizing of text or whatever the dim or note.
  6. I have a Logitech Performance MX and love it!
  7. I agree to a point with Chrstiaan, this would expedite finding bugs. however I am confused with the baking twist the post has taken. What if I don't like cake, how about steak! JK:)
  8. have not experienced this. I also have a 500. I will play with it and report back. Are you printing from Design Layer or Sheet Layer?
  9. Select your 3D Points and move 3D by 100' or what ever value you need then re-run the DTM.
  10. troutspinner, I also had the question of which software to use for my firm a few years ago. I had some AC experience and no VW experience. We had just moved to the Mac platform (although I was not letting that dictate my choice). To make a long story short we chose VW, and after a little time with the software we became quite fluent with it. My over all impressions with VW are that the software will do everything I want it to do with the ability to produce more creative , personalized and artistic drawings and renderings than with other software. Where the weaknesses are VW has consistently improved and overall is a very robust system. And Christiaan is right kudos for not letting price determine choice.
  11. Thanks guys, always good to here other opinions. Sorry about getting this off track.
  12. really though I do know of a few people that are using a loaded PC with 7 and say its a really good machine. More memory is always better.
  13. not to be the pro Apple guy here, but why not Apple. Seriously just wondering peoples reasons for their commuter choices. And yes I'll say it "Apple Rocks"
  14. thanks Benson, wasn't thinking of two parts. Call it a monday.
  15. anyone have a good idea how to create a 3D Gabion Basket?
  16. Yes, I have noticed mixing CAD id BAD! you should definitely get ahold of VW and see what they think.
  17. Jeremy, it sounds like you may have something odd happening (believe me I know your frustrations). It may be good to get in touch with Tamsin, as she is extremely knowledgable in these matters(I mean making VW work), she knows her stuff. And lets face it she's closer to you than I am (the whole pond thing and all). And weather it's a rant or question were always here on line. But I do believe you have something funky with the software. I have experienced no real issues with 2012- its very stable .
  18. I really have not noticed any issues with corrupted files on 2012. It may be externally ref'ed VP or something else in how the files are put together. I do not believe it is a hardware problem, however I have noticed that when I installed more ram I had less issues with corrupted files. Check to see how many programs you are running at once with VW, maybe you should upgrade memory. As you see our computers are close to the same specs. Run Apple Activity Monitor and see whats eating the juice. Hope this helps.
  19. gbland, also make sure your pad is within the boundary.
  20. try draging the SUM on the wattage total collumn. This should help.
  21. Thanks, Farookey this one was interesting, was fun to try. I'll bet the weather is better in Barbados than here, Just snowed here.
  22. Yes Farookey is correct you can do this when in 2D edit mode.
  23. James, If you create a new title block you can link the record format to as many fields as you choose. I just tried it an it does work. I have not yet played with an existing file but I would think you can do it. PS. you have to select the individual fields separately and apply the same format
