  1. That's true, the tool creates a lot of linelayers. But you can also make those kind of "complex" hatches from scratch, and then you'll have less. I've created 2 new ones, this time with less then 60 linelayers. I wish I could explain how i created them, it really isn't that difficult ones you got the hang of it. But I have no idea how to say it
  2. Well, NatureBoy can't find it either in this topic, so i start to doubt that the US version has it... Ones you got the logic behind those hatches, you can make them quite quickly, but navigating in that Hatch Editor is so time consuming... it's a shame. But as being said above by islandmon, it's a good workaround to put those Stipples into a symbol that you copy-paste where you need them. That way your file size will not increase extremely, and you still have the look that you like.
  3. Why thank you! Although I have to admit that Spellcheck helps me a lot in that one
  4. Stipple does increase your file size, 'cause you're adding some 100's of polys to your drawing. We got some of those Hatches in our standard VW libary that came with the installation. But i think that only the Dutch version has it, and it is not included in the US version (i can be wrong though). Because of that, i can not send it because it's copyrighted. But it's not so hard to make one yourself. In attachment is a file with two hatches that i just made. One is made with the inbuild hatchmaker and has therefor a lot of linelayers. The other one i made myself from scratch (in 15 minutes or so, it really isn't that hard to do (but that hatch editor is a pain to navigate in)
  5. It probable isn't of much help, but this is the place where it is located (if you're lucky, it's on the same location in the US version ): And this is how the dialog looks like:
  6. If the scale isn't to big, you can make one yourself quite quick. -draw a rectangle -draw some flagstone shapes in that rectangle -when a shape gets outside the rectangle, you need to copy that one and move it to the other side of the rectangle (move it the same length as the dimension of the rectangle) for example: -trim all the lines outside of the rectangle -select all the lines and the rectange -got to Architecture->Make Hatch (or something like that, i have the Dutch version, so i have no idea what the translation is) It took me less then ten minutes to make this hatch.
  7. If you have several Designs in a drawing, and you use more then one layer for each design, it gets quite complicated by times and the change that you're drawing things in the wrong design gets bigger... (happened to me before, especially when the designs look a lot alike). Therefor: ColorLabels for the DesignLayers. Just like you can use ColorLabels for your files in the Finder to "group" them, you should also be able to use that principle for your layers. That way you can give the design the same ColorLabel. An image to express myself a little better: As you can see, there is a new column in the Organization Dialog where you can choose some colors for each layer. Those same colors are used in the Layer Pulldown Menu in the Viewbar (is it called like that in English?). Also, the background of your drawing will get the same color as the ColorLabel of the active layer. That way you'll notice it directly when you switch accidentally to an other Design
  8. Indeed! Also, because the lines are on top of each other and both showed, you can get some weird things like this:
  9. Hatches are a great thing, with a little bit creativity, you can make wonderful things with it. But it's quite a time-consuming way to make or edit them. Therefor, remove that Hatches Dialog out of VW and let us edit hatches like we can edit all object in VW: in model space (right translation? ). That way we can use the tools that we are use to work with, like move, rotate, rescale, zoom in, zoom out, giving attributes with attributes palet, using the pipet (eyedropper?).... That way, you can select all the lines of the hatch, rotate them, and in less then a second your hatch is rotated. Also, that way you can put every line in a separate class. if you need high details, you can set all those classes visible, if not, you can just set the class of some basic lines visible. And you can change the color of the lines of your hatch in your viewport. Changing from color to greyscale is possible then, even for your hatches! Also, it would be cool if we could ad other object then lines to a hatch. Object like rectangles, arcs, poly's, text,...
  10. I like the chain dimensions a lot, but they are real pain in the *ss when it comes to editting one dimension of such a chain. Those chains are actually groups of chains... so why can't we edit them like groups then? Therefor my idea: -Double clicking on one chain (or by Organize->Edit Chain Dimension) => the next thing will be visible: All chains are now separate dimension who you can edit like dimensions. That way, you can select multiple dimensions (even of different chains if you like) and edit them in the same time. Leave the "edit chain"-mode and all the dimensions will become chains again. This would be way much faster then the way it is now, I'm pretty sure about that.
  11. Now we can uwe the navigation palet to navigate between our classes, layers, saved views,... and i find that a very fast way of working. But better would be if we could use more then one navigation palet. That way we can (for example) set the classes tab vissible in one, and the layer tab visible in the other. The same could be done with the object info palet. That way we can see the tab "object info" and "object data" at the same time. It sure would safe me some switching time between the tabs. (I use the Dutch version of VW, so I'm not sure if some of my translation are correct )
  12. I've posted some of my wishes on the Belgium VW board, but i'm pretty sure that no one of NNA will ever come there, so i'll post them here . (at first sight, I didn't see my wishes posted here, so if i say something that's already been posted, i'm sorry upfront!) When you're cropping a VP, it would come in handy when you would see the other objects of that layer in greyscale. That way you know were to end your crop. A little image to make myself a little bit more clear : When you're finished cropping, the grey object outside the crop wouldn't be visible anymore ofcourse. The same thing would be handy when you're editing a group. You now can choose to make the objects outside the group visible or not, but better would be if you could also choose to make them greyscale or not.
