"Vectorworks 2023" is damaged and can't be opened.
Alan.AHA replied to Mauro Pujia's question in Troubleshooting
Just noticed it says underneath " This file was created on an unknown date" This message is the same one that appeared for some earlier versions pf VW I had ( 2017, 2019 and 2021) and I ultimately deleted them to get rid of the annoying message but now I want to know what's happening. I'm not even running those versions, just 2024. -

I'm using an Intel Imac with 14.1.1 Sonoma and VW 2024. I had this issue with some of my older Vectorworks editions as I tend to keep them around and whilst I'm using the aforementioned 2024, these messages keep popping up. As I'm a user from the MiniCad days, and owned my earlier versions, I'm loathe to delete them now i'm subscription based. I've tried repairing which makes the message disappear for a few hours but to no avail. -

Tried that and the message comes back. Any more suggestions? Mine is with VW 2022 -
Thank you for your suggestions. It looks like you largely managed to solve all of the issues I'm talking about. I will persevere with the wall in question and see how far I get. Cheers

Hi Tom It's not my first 3d project but so far I've only experimented on new build with mixed results but I'm getting better. I haven't attempted to model this in it's entirety, just the wall in question as the rest of the building is largely solid brick built but it seemed like an opportune moment to investigate how it should be done. If it wasn't too difficult I was going to use this as a test case as it's not too large and in the end, I'll probably need to rebuild/replace the leaning section anyway. I don't want to waste anyone's time though.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping for a straightforward method of constructing what is in effect a leaning and tapered wall where in this case the top section is now curved. I have managed to construct part of the overall shape of it by adding a surface to a regular wall object. This has been an issue of mine for many years and I have ultimately avoided 3d modelling in favour of a simple 2d drawing. Part of it could be fixed by allowing an irregular extruded polygon to be converted to a wall object without making it conform to a thickness. That would just leave me with the tapering and leaning issue. One step at a time. Please also forgive my limited understanding of 3d modelling as despite having used VW since the days of MiniCad, my forays into the world of 3d have remained infrequent.

I often deal with old building here in the SouthWest of England and frequently come across cob walls. Does anyone have a solution to modelling one such wall that is both tapered from base to eaves, straight at the bottom and curved at the top where the truss has pushed it out over the centuries and finally thicker at one end than at the other. If I want to do more 3d work this is going to be an issue going forward.

Thanks for that, it worked.

File Crash (After MacOS Ventura Upgrade)
Alan.AHA replied to gridworks's question in Troubleshooting
I have been having similar issues but only when I try to do a page setup when organising up a new sheet layer. Everything goes fine and the sheet is created but as soon as I click "page setup" Vectorworks disappears. This has only happened since upgrading to Ventura and it doesn't happen to every drawing, some older and today a new one. The crash report suggests a kernel panic but aside from that it's beyond me. With one drawing I copied everything across into a new file and it seems to have worked but now it's a happened with a new drawing. VW23 Intel Mac running Ventura. -
Just updated to Ventura and now certain files crash Vectorworks when selecting page setup.

My point remains, there are workarounds but none of them fix the limitations of the tool itself.

I'd just like to bump this request again. The lack of 3d returns make the use of the editable window and door tool useless. I cannot see why this has not been fixed in the last 5 years despite repeated requests and the fact that better tools exist in different regions of Vectorworks

You may well be right, I lack the technical knowhow to make any judgment. I would however note that this did not occur in VW2018 through to the end of last year, some time after the Spectre exploit was patched on most machines. Even now I can run 2018 quite happily so whilst it may be an OS issue or even a hardware issue, to the un-initiated it would appear to be something introduced with VW2019 and even then its' effects are varied and intermittent.

I cannot speak to anyone else' s platform but I'm using a Mac on OS 10.14. I must say that I'm a little disappointed as this problem was first reported last November and I suspect that the number of people affected is far greater than reported in this discussion group with no real sign of a fix.
