  1. Jeff Not to toot Jonathan Pickup's horn, but his manuals are the best going. Written for us lay men.
  2. I am having the same problem on my HP 110 Plus
  3. Have the archicad export to dwg, and then import dwg. Works fairly well for me.
  4. I will vouch for Jonathan's manuals. He has a very down to earth writing style that most tech writers do not. His understanding of our issues is quite good. VW should just use him and for go their own tech manual writers. (Jonathan - is this good enough for a discount on your latest manual)
  5. I played with Sketchup for a while and found that there was no advantage when working with landscapes / dtm / modeling. I worked at becoming more proficient in VWL. Some of my compatriots are Sketchup fanatics and are amazed at what I can do as easy and quickly. Then there are no import worries.
  6. This is a reported bug, which for some reason did not get fixed in any of the last two maintenance fixes. Work around: In the worksheet editor, click on "Database Headers" Cell C3 should read "='Plant Record'.'Botanical Name' Change "Botanical" to "Latin" That will solve the problem.
  7. Katie I will send some projects to you. I am sure there are others who could contribute, i.e. how does one get the image, textures, lighting that is featured on the website.
  8. I would like to see a Landscape Architecture / Site Planning 2D & 3D presentation training presentation. Presently, a lot of experimentation is required. It would be nice for VW to look at a variety of non-VW, finished presentation dwg and then show us how to duplicate the results.
  9. I would like to be able - when exporting to dwg. - to explode my export to simple lines. This would reduce file size and issues with AC import. VW intelligence means nothing to AC.
  10. I also have this problem on occasion. Have not been able to figure out the trigger.
  11. Non-geek question It is my understanding that Linux is a more robust OS, having less limitations on ram and multi-core use. If so, and VW was able to run on Linux through Wine or something similar, would this robustness be passed on-at least to some extent.
  12. Ver 2008 - Go to Navigation box, Classes, turn off the class: Plant-Components -Tags
  13. I will be ordering mine first thing Monday morning. Jonathan's tutorials should be adopted by NNA as the primary training manual.
  14. When trying to export to PDF or to an image file from a 3D terrain model rendered in Final Quality Renderworks, I get an out of memory error message. What does this message tell me? I can export from other rendering modes. Also, I cannot get this to render in Final Quality Renderworks in a viewport. thks
  15. Petri As one spends way too many hours with grading plans - currently on a 27 acre sportsplex, I find the 2008 version of the dtm module vastly improved over previous versions. Yes, I do believe there can and need to be improvements, but progress has been made. One only has to be around AC's Civil 3D to hear many more complaints and appreciate NNA's progress.
  16. Over the weekend, I was working on plant symbol modifications as they pertain to graphics. When I try to modify one of the gradients that come with VW, the edit command is grayed out. I can create a gradient from scratch, but not modify one of the stock ones. Is this so, or am I missing something because of too much turkey and wine.
  17. I have one turf texture, but am looking for others. Anyone have one they would like to share? thks in advance

    DTM Question

When creating a site model of a "L" shaped project, the dtm model over runs the data file (in this case, 3d polys) by quite a bit, therefore extrapolating the model past the provided data. I have tried to use a fence to limit the model construction with out luck. Any ideas. thks

    Tools

I know that using the workspace editor, I can assign various menu commands to my right track wheel button. Does anyone know how to assign tool commands to the right button? I would like to add zoom commands and thing like tape measure, etc.
  20. Yes, I am talking about in the plant database itself. At the beginning of each project, I will create a specific plant list for that project, depending on what I am accomplishing. I also work within several different plant zones. I would like to be able to select more than one plant zone at a time to sort by.
  21. CruisnLong I am talking about sorting when putting together a proto plant list, not after the plants have been inserted into the dwg. I would like to be able to select a plant list that only has zones 1-5. If you ask the plant database to sort multiple zones it will only do a zone at a time.
  22. Sorry Guys, but I am referring to sorting in the plant data base using the Vectorworks Plant Database
