  1. Does anyone have a script to turn off a class by clicking on it? I have not found, than again I can be rather blind.
  2. Ok, I am being brain dead. How do I install the plugin? thks
  3. I am looking at a portable device for use in the field. Mostly text, but cad a bonus. It has been suggested I look at a tablet. My research makes this look good. Anybody gone this route?
  4. Since most of you favor the notebook over a pda, what PC based notebook would you recommend. Sorry, I am not Apple based.
  5. Ed I am looking to hire a subconsultant to provide presentation dwg. My workload is too great to spend time creating the actual presentation dwg. I will generate all site planning dwgs., etc. This is not a request for freebies.
  6. Do not know if this is proper of not. Forgiveness asked if this is not ok. I am in need of consultants well versed in dtm modeling and with buildings, roads, parking lots, landscaping etc. Please contact me through email. thomvetter@applecapital.net thks
  7. I am in somewhat of a quandry. My work load is shifting to a point where I will be managing large projects ie $30,000,000 European-style resort and $15,000,000 golf community to give an example. I also have several smaller projects that keep me moving. Also this fall I will be touring Italy researching the architecture for the resort. I am debating between a smart phone with good pda capablitites using a foldable keyboard for text and report writing or a small notebook (12" screen). Mobility is of importance. The ability to have cad available is not great, but would be handy. I can print to pdf and load on the pda. Has anyone faced this yet, and what have been your experiences. Pro's and con's welcome. thks in advance. [ 06-06-2005, 11:49 AM: Message edited by: tvetter ]
  8. Firefox works just fine for me. Ian, you may be just missing a download needed to run VW help files.

    Site Modeling

There are a few variables to know, but primarily, if your surveyors use land development, have them explode the file and save it to a 2004 dwg file. When importing, make sure to select 3D in the options dialoge box. The choice 2D & 3D will not import the dwg with 3D ploys.

Autocad 200o works fine. After importing the dwg file you should be able to read 3d polys. I have found that having the dwg exploded, then saved is important.
  12. How about starting to develop exporting using the "XML" format. Many other programs have gone this way and seems to answer many of the dwg limitations.
  13. Any chance of being able to use this file exchange in the near future? [ 05-05-2005, 11:28 AM: Message edited by: tvetter ]
  14. I would like to see the ability to import pdf files - at least in the Windows version.
  15. I cannot speak to 3D. As a Landscape Architect, most of my stuff is in 2D, more of a civil engineering format. We will sometimes create details in 3D and annotate them in a viewport. But this is something that is not to be edited by someone else. I print and arrange my dwg with several viewports to create the print I want. I suspect this issue could be related to certain disciplines.
  16. Annotating in viewports is only acceptable (IMHO) if you are the end user of the dwg. If you share files, they can be a real pain. I speak from experience. One civil engineering firm I work with annotates it dwg in viewports -autocad, and to make the dwg workable especially if I need to refer to their info or need their annotations on my dwg in a slightly different layout, can be time consuming. When they work for me, I require them to annotate in model space.
  17. Peter I am sitting here next to one of the cheapest and larger power producing dams in the NW and my power has a tendency to micro-spike. It is very hard on computers unless you have a UPS. Location has nothing to do with quality of power supply.

    Tools

Since this seems to be a popular subject presently, is there a routine that will set the class to be current by picking something that exists in the dwg. While I at it, is there a way to activate a tool by right clicking the way menus can be added to activate by right clicking.
  19. I also have this problem with 11.5. NIVIDA - GeForce, 128 meg on board, Win XP Pro, SP2, 1 gig ram

    Printing

I have left a dwg trying to print for up to 1/2 hour and it still seems to be trying to process the info. I print to my PDF995 driver and it prints within a few minutes. I understand complexity makes for longer printing times, how long is long?

    Printing

Katie just had me try to print using the raster format. The dwg, which would not print before printed just fine in this format. Thks Katie

    Printing

This has been posted under "Printing" also with no response. Have of you found that the more symbols the dwg. contains, the harder or longer it takes to print. I have found that I have to print to a pdf. file first, than print from Adobe to my printer. Is this a VW problem? XP Pro, SP2, Pentium 4, 2.8, 1 gig of mem., HP450C Plotter, ver. 4.65 driver
  23. Is it possible to assign toolbar commands to right trackball/mouse button. This is easy to do with menu commands, but I cannot figure out how to do it with toolbar commands. thks
  24. I am using an XP machine with a HP450C plotter, the latest driver. I cannot get VW to print anything more than a small dwg. I can plot to pdf, and then plot using the same driver. Any suggestions?
