  1. Hi All I see from the unclass2 system is up and running here. http://www.cpic.org.uk/uniclass2/ However i can't seem to find a way to download it to work in VW15. I think VW requires a .sta file. Does anyone have any idea if this is available. cheers Paul
  2. Did you find a work around for this. I am having the same issue. Are VW trying to force me to buy render works just so i can export the walls with components properly? There was a time when artlantis was the recommended rendering package for VW. I guess now they want me to but cinema4d. cheers.

  4. Hi, How can I see the wall components attributes when i have made a sectional viewport. I assumed they would show like they do in plan but alas I see only a solid fill. I changed the class of the section class to 'none' but still nothing. Do i need Renderworks for this to work? cheers Paul
  5. I am new to worksheets, having never used them before. Silly really since i have been using VW since it was MiniCad on my dads Mac Colour Classic! I am trying to get into using more IFC comparable objects rather than just lines and rectangles. What you suggested to get the volume information worked well. However, I have trouble limiting the worksheet to a specific wall in a certain class. is there a way to filter/ limited the worksheet to walls in a certain class? Also i have named each wall, W1, W2 etc however there does not seem to be a way to show this info in the column. Let me know if there is a good guide to this somewhere. Many thanks. Paul
  6. sorry can't help but i need help making my revision info work. I just created a new title block and added a revision column and even made the text for this :rNo etc in the Record. However this does not seem to alter when added to a sheet and adding a revision in the object info palette. It changes the standard revision block but not my new revision info. I understand this information is held by the sheet border but how do i make it link to my own revision format? I hope I explained this well enough! cheers Paul
  7. Many thanks Pat. I will give this a go. cheers Paul
  8. Hi I am working on a project which is constructed from Cross Laminated Timber. Basically a solid timber panel. I have drawn a 3d model using the wall, floor and roof tools so i can IFC it to the structural engineer. It would be very useful to know if you can find out the volume of all the walls, floors and roof in the model. This is so we can get cost estimates and work out the carbon stored in the wood. Anyone know if there is a way to get the volume information and it doesn't seem to be shown in the Object information palette. Many thanks in advance. Paul update Found the 'volumetric properties' button. which is nice but i have to work out about 100 panels individually. Is there not a way to make a table/ spread sheet for the objects and add the volume. or even just add it to the Object info panel.
  9. Thanks for your help. Pat, as you mention i would like to do an alen tapered bolt with a nut which is adjutable like the normal nut and bolt tool. i will look at the plug-ins as suggested by Benson. thank you both. regards pau
  10. Hi all When using the bolt and nut tool (mm) is there a way to make the bolt head countersunk.( much like the wood screw head) I use these a lot in detailing and i cannot see a way of doing this. I am using Architect version. thanks for helping. paul
  11. Thanks Pat I like the fact that you can grey other objects when editing groups, it really helps see things more clearly when working in design layers. But you have to turn off 'Grey other objects' to make other viewports visible when editing a viewports annotations/crop in a sheet layer. If not the text is there but the design layers disappear. Do i have to keep toggling between the setting or is there a short cut to turn 'grey other objects' on and off? Can't the actual design layer in the viewport be greyed rather than disappear.
  12. I found it. cmd + shift + ` thanks for your help paulg oh thats okay regards paulg There was as shortcut list for the last version, does anyone know where it is in the new version.
  13. Previous versions of VW allowed you to shortcut switch between open files by pressing cmd and ` . this now changes the object info palette tabs. I have found that if you press and hold the two buttons it does change between files. BUT so fast its impossible to choose the file you want. its like roulette. Surely it not because i have a fast computer. Any work arounds out there?
  14. When you double click on a viewport in a sheet layer and edit annotations all the other viewports in the sheet layer disappear. This is very annoying when you need to look at the other viewports when adding dims or text. Does anyone out there know if there is a tick box somewhere to leave the viewports visible. thanks paul p.s I'm using architect 2009 and this never happened in 2008.
  15. I know what your saying but they are pre-set views and don't work with a rotated view. I would use 'Set 3d view' in View but keep the perspective as orthogonal. If you need to go back to this view regularly then save the view.
  16. This is really beginning to stress our office out. Referenced files are ending up all over the place. Any Joy with a fix VW people!!! paul
  17. Hello I have a file ( A) with mutiple layers, It also has layers referenced from file (B). I have created viewports of these referenced layers from B on the layers in A. Now, When i try reference file A into a new file it tells me the following " A viewport has been removed from the referenced layer "SEC 05", as these are not supported here." This would be fine if it did only remove the viewport but alas Vectorworks crashes. I don't really want to have to delete the viewports in the layers as i still need them. If it helps, the report generated for apple has this in it... Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001) Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x0000000c Anyone come across this or have a cure. Thanks Paul Working on a Imac G5 Mac os 10.4.11 Vectorworks 2008 13.0.1
