  1. I have a Graphite font that I bought from myfonts.com (I tried both Adobe and Linotype versions) and an Architxt font that was passed down to me. The copyright says 1992, 1993 Digital Architecture.
  2. I'm having the same problem as well. Is anyone going to fix this though?
  3. I am having the same problem here. I have an opentype font called 'Architxt' that some times prints to PDF fine but most of the time I need to print with the 'rasterize print output' option checked. That makes my drawings look grainy though. So, I decided to try another opentype font called 'Graphite' that I bought from myfonts.com and it appears as Arial when I have GDI turned on as well. Anyways, I have no real advice to give you but I can tell you that it's not your printer that's the problem. Hopefully they're looking into this because it's very annoying. P.S. Anyone know of a good architectural hand lettered font that does work with Vectorworks 2008?
  4. I would like to see the scale bar function have an option to change the scale it`s at, overriding the scale of the layer it`s on. I like to put that kind of info on the sheet layer so that I can easily copy and paste in place to other sheet layers and drawing files.
  5. I just noticed that I can print this text in a different drawing. I don't know why this would be. The only real difference from the other drawing is that this one does not use workgroup references and it was created originally in VW12.5 then switched over. But why would this change how the font prints?
  6. Maybe I just don't know enough about embedding fonts, how do you do with pdf995?
  7. I have been working with a true type font called Architxt made by Digital Architect Software Inc. in 1993. I can't seem to print drawings using this text because of restrictions in embedding or something. I'm not really sure, don't know alot about fonts. Anyways, I am looking for an updated version of Architxt or something very, very similar. Either that or someway to change my existing font to unrestrict it.
  8. I had no idea a font could be out of date! So, how do I go about updating it or finding a newer edition?
  9. Richard, I'm having the exact same problem. I have to click blindly at areas on my screen hoping to hit the part of my symbol that I'm trying to edit. Hopefully they fix this real soon! Also, do you find the plant database has actually become worse? I used to use it all the time but now it takes so long to load the list and if they don't have the plant cultivar I'm looking for there's no duplicate and edit option so I just end up typing in the name on the original menu. Seems like they went a little backward with that one.
  10. Well Jon, I do landscape architecture, and it's not always as simple as that we draft pathways, planting bed edger, retaining walls, etc. that have very curvy shapes and all I need is to be able to create lines and arcs that come off tangent to each other and it would be nice if I could do all that with one tool. Even if they just added the tangent to line arc and 3 point arc to the polyline functions I would be extremely happy. Nothing in this world would make me happier!
  11. Jon, thanks for the compose tip. Didn't know about that one. But still, we are taking more steps than we should be. Don't you agree?
  12. Michael, sorry but changing my font is not an option. I guess I'm just stubborn that way. My file sizes are low anyways, about 1.5 MB. I have found a way to print my drawings though. I have to click the 'rasterize print output' button at the bottom of my print screen. The PDFs are a little larger in file size and the image seems a little more grainy but it works. And Tim, 85 MB is a very large file. Do you use workgroup references for your base info? If not you should look into it, they make your drawings much smaller and run alot lighter.
  13. So here it is, 2008 and I am still drafting using line tool-arc tool-line tool-etc. then taking the combine tool to make all of these line segments into one simple segment. It almost seems to me that there should be a tool that can do this all at once. What's that you say? There is one! It's called polyline. Wow, I better check this out. Wait a minute though, I can draw straight lines but where are the arc functions that I'm used to and what the hell are bezier and cubic vertex lines. Not only that but how am I supposed to draft accurately with them. I know, I know, I'm being sarcastic, but imagine if they took all the functions from the arc tool and switched them to these functions. NO ONE in their right mind would use Vectorworks for drafting. And isn't that what Vectorworks is striving to become, a precise CAD software, not an imagery software like so many AutoCAD trained professionals regard it to be? I have discussed this issue with many people learning Vectorwork and it is obvious that this is the #1 problem keeping professionals from using Vectorworks for serious drafting exercises. It is also the most basic: the ability to draft complex line segments with precision and speed. So please, forget about colours, 3d modelling, and file extensions and get the basics nailed down first. It would save everyone who uses this program a significant amount of time.
  14. Hey Tim, I tried cutepdf. It seems to take a long time to make the pdf and I can't view it with Adobe Reader after I make the pdf. Are there some setting I need to adjust or something? Steve
  15. I created them myself in a seperate file, dragged them in with the resource browser, then used the landmark-create new plant tool to add the appropriate plant ID.
  16. Tried placing plants with plant tool, tried summarizing w/ latin name. Neither make any difference.
  17. I use the reports function to create a list of the plants in my drawing and their quantities. In VW2008 my quantities are showing as (1) for every plant no matter how many times I copy the plant symbol. Now I need to count every plant by hand! Any reason why this might be happening?
  18. I have tried turning GDI+ off. I have even downloaded the latest update, but still when I export to PDF the text in my viewports doesn't show up and when I try to plot a PDF it doesn't make it at all. It comes up with a notepad warning saying 'postscript error, no PDF file produced'. Now, I am using a truetype font called Architext. I don't know if it's part of the problem; it always printed fine in 12.5. I need to be able to create PDF's with this text! Does anyone have any tips?
