  1. To be honest, i'm rather fond of them as they are, that's the way i saw them since i was 8, nothing against customisable view names, i just like the current format. Mods left to individual users choice to make use if needed. No blanket change. All Keyboard Shortcuts in the Menus as standard would be welcome though . . . . Too many seem to have migrated to the WE.
  2. It was only as quick fix idea, but maybe both . . . .
  3. Jim, maybe for Macs an icon in the Menu Bar on the right near the clock. That way it doesn't rob real estate from anything else in VW and might offer a quick fix while the more complex jobs are worked on. Can this also work on current Windows OS? It's been a while since I've used a desktop config.
  4. Thanx Jim, good list, though i don't "need" them all, knowing they're there would be reassuring. But, for personal use, just for now, a constant display would be really helpful to assist budget/time control, but, all of your suggestions would be beneficial, eventually, as each would make the final closure of accounts so much simpler. As long as the "Ease of Use" factor is kept foremost and really intuitive is remembered for five year olds like me.
  5. That's my point. VW already knows when a file is open, so there's no reason why tabs can't be keep on it. As for being "Open" when no work in the program takes place, in my opinion, that's not a bad thing, many clients put research down to "Wasted Time". Just because i'm not drawing doesn't mean the project has stalled!
  6. +1 Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't the Crash Logs already make use of this info? If so, shouldn't be too bigger step to make use of it. i could be mistaken though . . . .
  7. Yep. Would be really useful for accurate repositioning groups.
  8. +1 on the Guides Symbols knowing where they are with the option of displaying it, would be useful too. Included in VW Designer please.
  9. Reshape probably gets more use than any other tool, so anything that distinguishes one type of vertex from another will make things easier. Great suggestions. +3
  10. Not trying to hijack the thread, but, Previously Jim you mentioned that Vectorworks was suffering from a limitation of only being able to make use of 2GB of available RAM and that the "Powers That Be" were working toward overcoming. Has this bug been fixed? Can i now make use of more of the 12GB i have installed?
  11. New interface is anything but urgent, however, could do with a clean up. 1-Not a big fan of Tabs, but Dockable Palettes would help, but right now, i'd just be happy to be able to resize them ALL, not just some. Especially the smaller ones. 2- No comment. 3-i like multiple screens, so, if extra views could be placed on another screen, toggling the main screen still using the Number Pad would work . . . . 4-Maybe, but there are so many "Spanners In The Works" that need sorting that this can wait . . . . . Fix the foundations first. 5-With this is one, Tabs might just work. Quick access to 3rd party Symbols then back to the current files RB Symbols Tab. i'd still prefer that everything that we already have just worked smoothly, before dedicating the the team to inventing newer ways to eat a slice of jam on toast.
  12. My point exactly Dieter. Half baked Never works. And why i'm that harsh Vincent, try getting the result you are aiming for on a composite curved surface. And why Jim's presence is so appreciated.
  13. Proof Reading they call it in publishing world. Maybe stop trying to add more bells and whistles for a year, just spend it ironing out all the kinks(read making work to perfection) . . . Please.
  14. Not an archie, but the same rule applies regardless! LOL Thanx
  15. Patrick, Could you post those links again please, i can't get anything from it/them. Thanx, Andrew
  16. Hi Frederic, If it's a one off case, you could make a Duplicate of the Symbol that Exports flipped text, and try Editing the copy. Mirror the Text, so that it displays correctly in the Exported DWG version. Not really a permanent solution, but might tide you over until a more solid resolution can be provided . . . . Also you might want to add your PC details and VW version to you signature, makes replying much easier
  17. Something definitely needs doing about it Vincent. Time was that VW used to deposit an object, whatever it may have been, emanating from your first click. Whatever happened to those days?
  18. That's just artistic license, as my tech is more mech not arch and glue adheres more than tech fields openly allow.
  19. Well, that's quite something, but i recall custom built symbols in VW being potentially as good as anything born of such a complete setup, just that the palettes could do with a tad of a cleanup. If EAP could pull an arc profile along a rectangle and be able to calculate the corners without tripping over it's bootlaces, i'd be content. Rhino has admittedly taken it much further, but until such time as the creative element in VW's 3D tools are not "Fully" accessed, dreams of Rhinos' capacities are still some way off. As with any building, the foundations need sorting, you can't glue 20 floors on top of a bungalow. IMHO
