I have an AutoCAD file of a DTM, with 3D polylines, in a DXF format. I would like to import it into VectorWorks and generate a 3D Site Mode. Is this possible? If so what is the process?

Your sugestion was very helpful. I have now been abel to successfully generate a Model. It is nice to get some good professional help without a lot of sarcasm.

I read the section in the User?s Guide that you referenced. I had read it before but I though I had missed something. I imported the DXF Contour file as source data. From the pull down menu I selected AEC > Site Model. I got the following dialog box Error: There isn?t enough valid data on the specified source layer to build a DTM. It appears that I am only getting 2D information. The file has been used in the past to build a DTM in other software ( MacRoad now HighRoad).

I have done what you said and the text tool is still locked on color white. I think it might have something to do with classes. When it comes to classed I am lost.

I am a new user to VW and I am having a problem with the text default. When I select the text tool and type a text and enter it there is not text visable. I can change the text to colored and it showes up. Whin I try to change the text defalt to black it will not change and keeps giving me white text . Anyone have any sugestions.

I have a drawing that I am working and the attribures are locked. I have looked at every preference that I can find and I can't unlock them. I can change the values in the attribute pallet, but when I select a new tool it still has the old values. I can work around this by selecting the object and changing the attributes but this not the way VW is to work. I sure could use some help.

When I export a VW file as a DWG file and open it in ACAD all the dimension text has a frame around them, when printed. The frame does not show up when viewed on the ACAD screen. They also show up when you do a print preview. Can anyone tell me what the problem is, and what the fix may be?
