  1. PIO = plug in object Go to Tools->Scripts-->Vectorscript Plug-in Editor Scroll down to the Window PIO Press the parameter button edit IDLableclass (item 151 in VW2008) to what you want
  2. There is a PIO parameter for window ID class. Check that.
  3. At Sweets [ http://products.construction.com/ ] it's vendors providing the content. Vendor details --> Sweets --> Architect The AIA doesn't appear in the equation. Unlike other parts of the world, the AIA is merely a trade organization. It has no government charter, no regulatory or ministerial function, and no official role whatsoever.
  4. I wouldn't bet on the AIA as a mechanism for affecting change in the construction industry. The reason there's content in Revit format is because vendors provide it. The reason they provide it is because their major customers demand it.
  5. Ah,ad hominem. Once again you have seen the truth and find it distasteful. Most definately.
  6. Unscripted HTML isn't going to cut it for 1400 pages of documentation. The issue with HTML help is the scripting for generating tables of contents, indexes, and of course context sensitive responses. Server side scripts create one set of problems, client side scripts another set. OSX Help Books don't depend on pure HTML. They require "Help Viewer" - a custom application with browser like features. The custom HTML formats associated with one help viewer are not typically useful to another. And some companies make their viewers incompatible with 90% of the world's computers (and probably even more of the world's help files). Not surprising. Doing so would facilitate multi-platform development of which they don't get a cut. And be counter to the Cupertino Kool-Aid .
  7. Just a word of advice - HP no longer manufactures the color cartridges for the 700 series. They are available as refills, but no new ones in the pipeline.
  8. The security risks and complexity associated with running a web server locally are often unacceptable. Combine that with the obvious fact that OSX has an extremely weak set of native help authoring tools - a situation entirely consistent with the scarcity of third party development for the platform and the usual Cupertino Kool-Aid . Add in the horror which is the native OSX help browser - again the quality is consistent with the lack of third party OSX development - and you have a situation which requires cross platform developers such as NNA to waste resources on something as basic as help. Duh.
  9. If the right tool for the job isn't in your hand, yelling at the tool won't make the situation better. Either pound the nail with the screwdriver, or find a hammer.
  10. It's probably hard coded into the window and door PIO's. The doors and windows themselves get classed, but nobody thought to read the file for secondary items. Oops, I'll take that back, the "style-X" classes do...for door and window PIO's. But other PIO's don't, so you wind up with "style-custom1" and "style-1" in the same drawing. There is a parameter of the PIO for the tag, but nothing for the ceiling. personally, I don't see much to be gained from changing "-" in layer names to "_" even if you should be able to do it.
  11. There was a recent thread where someone was trying to pick a CYMK color on their Mac and kept getting the wrong color in Vectorworks. The obvious reason of course is that subtractive color systems like CYMK are not directly supported on additive devices like a computer monitor.
  12. If he runs 10.6 he can actually get worse openGL performance than 10.5.
  13. At least in 2008 the legend does not use the current text styles. It defaults to arial for the title and body. I have not seen a listing for it as a PIO so that font parameters could be changed.
  14. Unlearning years of autocad practice is difficult. And there isn't anything comparable to references Paul Aubin's books for Autocad. As for becoming a two person office, I'd recommend crossing that bridge when you get to it. I typically will have separate reference files for Autocad imported stuff like buildng backgrounds and survey's from third parties. It keeps all those classes and layers out of the way of my working drawings. I will reference them on their own design layers as needed. Unless the project becomes overly complex, I will keep everything else in a single file with automatic backups every 15 minutes and the last 24 backups saved.
  15. "xrefs" are typically brought in as a design layer viewport (dlvp). You cannot control the appearance of objects within a dlvp from a sheet layer view port (slvp). The ablity to directly reference external files into slvp's has been wishlisted for several years.
  16. I have a logitech mx-620. I haven't had any delay problem using Vectorworks. However, when I've seen a delay with wireless mice it's usually when there is a second pointing device attached. That's of course common on many laptops with integrated touchpads etc.
  17. The vectorworks architect step by step manual has some modest exercises. If you have it, you might use it as a refresher.
  18. Here's another workaround, which suggests how a negative slope roof tool ought to work: 1. start with 3d loci. 2. Create a site model. 3. Use "create 3d mesh solid." 4. Create a snapshot. 5. convert snapshot to 3d polys. 6. Ungroup 7. create solid addition from 3d polys. 8. create solid subtraction from solid addition when plan is concave. Editing the site model loci and modifying the solid subtraction are fairly trivial because you have the site model as a control structure.
  19. You can change the render mode for multiple viewports through the viewport tab of the organization window. You cannot however adjust background render options for the artistic mode. That's as far as I've investigated right now.
  20. Symbols and groups are containers. They can be assigned a class, a layer, and graphic attributes. The objects within the container can be assigned a class and graphic attributes. If you turn off the class of the container, you cannot see the objects. If you turn off the class of an object within the container you will not see it, but you will see the container and objects within it of other classes.
  21. In 2008 "create solid" creates a solid addition consisting of Nurbs surfaces.
  22. I doubt 99% of members have read the post. But I understood your comment as refering to my solution as well. However, my post was related to the proposed workaround with the goal of producing similar results more quickly. Never would I imagine that anyone's post (let alone mine) has met your requirements.
