  1. Using VWA 9.5.3, Mac OS9.1 I'm just starting to use the redline tool, and I'm unhappy (personal pref and needs only) with the default font and pt size (12 pt Geneva). I can't find a way to globally change it. Would you tell me where to make the change. Many thanks, John
  2. Katie, Although I think I've solved my pdf problems as described in message of 1/9/03, I'm still curious about your question: Do you have anti-aliasing turned on or off? Would you tell me where it is turned on/off and more about it. Many thanks, John
  3. Thanks Brooks for you comment. I'll try your drag-and-drop work around. Interestingly, I've just been doing a bit of experimenting and I've found that if I change my work area to white background (under VW prefs) and then print to pdf, I have NO PROBLEMS with distortion at all. I've always prefered black backgound and have never had any trouble with that in earlier versions of VW, but I guess I'll have to change my ways.
  4. [Do you have anti-aliasing turned on or off?] In what dialog box do I have the option of turning this on or off? I don't know anything about this. [Are you opening the file in Adobe to view it?] Yes. [if you print it out (if you've tried it), is it printing out with the wavy lines?] Yes, I've printed out the pdf image and yes, the distortions are printed [Do you notice this distortion when printing and viewing the file or durring print preview?] I notice it when viewing and printing, I've never used print preview.
  5. Using VWArchitect 9.5.3 on Mac OS 9.1; When I print a VW drawing to a pdf file using Acrobat Distiller 5.0 (with Acrobat 5.0) I always get distortion in the printed file of some of the drawing elements and text. Most of the distortion is in circular elements and bold typefaces. I have tried changing some the the "printer specific" settings in the printing dialog box, but nothing I do seems to yield a non-distorted pdf file. Any suggestions to corrct this?
  6. No, I'm currently using the new downloaded version of 9.5.0 that you have posted now. I had been using the beta version before.
  7. Running VWArchitect 9.5.0 on MacOS 9.1. I've noticed recently that my tape measure tool yeilds highly variable results. I can take the same point to point measurement several times and each time get a different result even though my curser snaps to the same points. I use this tool a lot, and have in the past relied on its accurancy. Is there something wrong on my end, or is this a flaw in the program?
  8. I just downloaded the 9.5.0 beta update and used it to update my VWArchitect 9.0.1. I've only just taken a quick look at the new version, but I notice that 9.5.0 takes a long, long time to start up and a long, long time to close down; much longer than 9.0.1 does. Is this typical of 9.5.0, or do I have some setting wrong? I'm running it in OS9.1, 500MHz G4, 512MB RAM.
  9. HOWEVER: Re Callout Tool, I've tried using the "Settings" button with no effect. But, I found that if I change my default class arrow style to the "dot" that I desire, only then will the Callout leader come into the drawing with the desired + selected "dot" arrow.
  10. Yes, I'm using the old simple win + simple door plug-ins from VW8 succesfully in VW9 because of the line weight control issue. BUT, if I could have complete control over the line weights, I'd use the SimpleWin2 + SimpleDoor2 Plug-ins because of their handy automatic link to the record info showing window size, etc.
  11. Many thanks for the input. You've helped solve both problems.
  12. Using 9.0.1 and drawing at 1/8" scale (my most often used dwg scale). 1. When using the ID Plug-In tool the symbols + text come in WAY too big for my taste at this scale. Is there a way to control the scaled size as well as the text size and font? 2. Also, I somtimes have plans at different scales in the same drawing and I've found that once I've used the ID Plug-In tool for win+doors at one scale it will not allow me to do the same for the other scale plan (I get an error message). 3. When using the Callout Plug-In tool, I can't seem to get the leader line to use the dot marker (or most of the other marker styles for that matter)even though I have chosen in the Object Info Palette.

  14. I'm having the same problem with Rendering (error ?One or more operations aborted...etc., etc."). Does this only happen when rendering imported files from 8.5 (that's what I'm attempting at the moment)?
  15. I just installed my new VWA9 over the weekend. I am trying to work in VWA9 with two drawings created in VWA1.01, but I'm having 2 problems so far. One problem occurs when I go to the lighting|set sun position command under the view menu. I get an error message regarding the sun position (originally set in the VWA1.01 file) -- then the very next time I try to chose another command in the view file menu the program crashes. Second problem: I've been trying to use the new VWA9 Modify Layers and Classes command to save my office class and layer standards as .txt files that can then be loaded into new drawings. First I open my VWA1.01 "office template" file in VWA9 (it says that it's translating it to version 9...) Then using the new Modify Layers etc command I add all the existing classes over to the proposed column, click save and assign a file name, then do the same for layers, then finish. The problem is that when I try to load the saved class and layer .txt files into a new VWA9 drawing none of my classes or layers are in fact loaded. Are my problems just more program bugs to add to the long list that seem to be affecting VWA9?
  16. Mike B: Thanks for your reply. Like you I liked SimpleWin1, SimpleDoor1, etc, which allowed to you change lineweights in the pre-assigned " _ main" layer. I may be doing something bad, but I've copied over to VWA9's plug-in folder all the old Simple_1 plugins from VW8. I also like the more basic graphic qualities of these old window and door plug-ins. One problem with software advances is that (along with many needed and welcome improvements) they always slip in some fancy stuff that you never wanted or needed.
  17. How can I control the line weights within the plug-in's simple window2, simple door2, etc. Most of the lines within these plug-ins seem to take on the lineweight assigned to the wall that they are inserted in, and I don't most of the elements in the doors and windows to print as heavy as the walls do. Can I control this at all?
