  1. VW 2015 introduced the ability to directly manipulate elements of a Curtainwall object. At the time it seemed to be implied that this type of parametric functionality was to be a key part of the future development of VW. Has VW 2016 extended this type of functionality in any BIM objects? I have been hopefully exploring VW 2016 looking for it.
  2. The kind of stuff you are describing goes on and on and on with most of the fancy new BIM tools, rendering them virtually useless, as soon as some form of normal architectural complexity needs to be addressed.
  3. A few years ago I found a script written (I think) by Wes Gardner that did this. But I searched for it more recently and could not find it. Wes, is that script still available?
  4. I have been experiencing this from day one with 2016. I waited a while to post to see if I could detect a pattern. The only thing that I know will usually make it crash is if I get going to fast and execute a command before the last one has completed. Once I noticed that I tried to slow down a bit. But now I still am getting "random" crashes at a much higher rate than 2015.
  5. I have been using 2016 with SP1 for about a half hour and just had a crash.
  6. Did not realize there was a SP1. I will install it and see. Thanks.
  7. Compared to 2015, 2016 has been crashing a lot. The crashes appear to be random. I have not been able to identify a pattern. Anyone else experiencing this? For me 2016 is not stable compared to 2015.
  8. +1 I looks like it is related to artistic rendering "edges" but even with this option unchecked it runs.
  9. I use two displays. I have not tried it with one.
  10. I have had this problem with the mouse clicks not registering for several months now on 2015. It is the same on 2016. This is a huge time waster! I thought it was probably just something with my system, but it only happens on VW.

    Energos

Thanks Jim, I am looking forward to trying Energos. Do you know if it will model Trombe walls? thermal mass? Currently I use HEED.

    Energos

Is there a forum for Energos? Is there a tutorial for Energos? Thanks,
  13. I like Cadplan / Andrew's idea. VW should let the users directly decide the next 10 significant upgrades/improvements. First through a nomination process and then through a vote. My first nomination is for the ability to see and manipulate the 3d model in at least two viewport views simultaneously.
  14. Doesn't work in what way? I use this all the time to coordinate section and detail markers on floor plan viewports, elevations, and from wall section veiwports to more detailed viwports. What version of VW are you using?
  15. For sheet layer section viewports: in the OIP choose Section Line Instances, then Viewports, and choose the viewports that you would like them to appear in.
  16. Try the Sketchup 3D Warehouse: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=corinthian+column&rsi=sbis&backendClass=entity
  17. I have experienced the same problem with the space tool. I "fixed" temporarily by restarting VW.
  18. This is one of the first features I requested when I started using VW 12.5. I also had long experience working with ink on mylar and doing what DM describes above. (If I remember correctly, AC has a range of options for line ends, but I think they are controlled with plot settings.)
  19. I have used the Curtain Wall Tool. I was very impressed!! It was very intuitive and I did not hit a bug or a snag that limited its usefulness (think DTM or Stair Tool). I hope it is, as you suggest, the way of the future for object creating tools such as the Stair Tool. That would be welcome indeed!
  20. Thank you. That would be great.
  21. Maybe that was it. I did not have that checked because it seems to check a thousand other things with all sorts of odd abbreviations etc.
  22. I got it to work by selecting the keynote callouts inside a sheet viewport. It does not work when nothing is selected or when the keynote legend is selected. What spell check category does do keynote legends fall under? Text block?
  23. As far as I can tell, VW does not check the spelling in the keynote legends.
  24. Does anyone know of a way to easily spell check the Keynotes? Previously I have imported the text into Word to spell check and then exported back to text.
