Dear Josh, A revelation! I never knew that the Data Manager could be used like this. Fantastic! I've enclosed snapshots for those who like me (thanks again Josh!) couldn't figure this out at first. Cheers, Peter

Tip: Changing height of multiple Truss Systems at once
Peter Neufeld replied to Peter Neufeld's topic in Braceworks
Even better, or at least as good: the Modify>Align Distribute command works for all Truss Systems! See movie (it takes a few seconds for the command to execute). Cheers, Peter PS Just discovered it only works for Bottom not Top alignment which makes sense I suppose. Align Distro.mp4 -
Hello, If you select more than one Truss System in order to change the height via the 'Change Trim Height of System' in the OIP, you can't as the option is then greyed out. However I just discovered a way to do it easily and thought I'd share. Just select all trusses and motors with the selection tool and choose the Move 3D command from the Modify menu. In any view, enter the number in the Z field and the trusses move accordingly with the motors staying put. Very quick movie no sound attached. Cheers, Peter Move multiple truss systems.mp4

Dear Sam, To be clear I'm highlighting the (new to v2020) Live Data Visualisation rather than viewport Data Visualisation. For example being able to instantly check Type versus Universe such in the enclosed screenshots without leaving the design layer. Cheers, Peter

Dear Jesse, There's never a day when I don't learn something new about the program. That's great to know - thanks! Cheers, Peter

Here's one example of all the Cosmic Global F44 library, all connected with all different lengths displaying in colour. It might not be what you want but Live Data Viz is very powerful! Cheers, Peter Truss data Viz by length.vwx

Hello, Have you had a play with the new Live Data Visualisation in 2020? This works on Design layers and once you have some set up you can keep them in a template. No need to edit symbols or maintain duplicate libraries. Cheers, Peter Truss Colour Live Data Visualisation.vwx

Point size control for Point Clouds
Peter Neufeld replied to JeremyLondonRMLA's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
Dear Pat, Thank you for doing this, it works really well. In my example I have about 130,000 3D loci, extracted from a Point Cloud of a building, and it didn't take long for them to be replaced by my named symbol. Cheers, Peter -
Point size control for Point Clouds
Peter Neufeld replied to JeremyLondonRMLA's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
Dear Pat, The first version doesn't work with 3D loci only 2D so that's no good as the Model>Point Clouds>Extract 3D loci from Point Cloud is the command that is getting us here. Any chance you could tweak as a user defined symbol would be the most useful fix. Thanks, Peter -
Point size control for Point Clouds
Peter Neufeld replied to JeremyLondonRMLA's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
Dear Pat, Thanks! That works a charm - inserting a Stake object for each 3D locus (contrary to the description line: {Inserts a symbol named PrintLocus at the locaiton of each loci on the active layer}) I hope this helps the others who started this thread. Cheers, Peter -
Hello, How about like this? I haven't drawn it to scale but maybe this is one approach. Cheers, Peter Chair.vwx

Point size control for Point Clouds
Peter Neufeld replied to JeremyLondonRMLA's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
Thanks very much Pat but it only works with 2D loci not 3D...Do I change the 'Get Type'? I think being able to replace the 3D loci with a symbol as this script promises is the best option. Cheers, Peter -
Point size control for Point Clouds
Peter Neufeld replied to JeremyLondonRMLA's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
I'm sure someone could write a script to replace all 3D loci with Stake Objects. (@Pat Stanford ?) That way at least you'd have a hybrid object as the 3D can be an extrude. Or maybe a script so they could be replaced by a hybrid symbol? Cheers, Peter -
Point size control for Point Clouds
Peter Neufeld replied to JeremyLondonRMLA's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
3D Loci like the 2D ones are reference points and can not be resized and do not print. Not sure what you mean about 3 lines but that sounds like you need to update your GPU driver of try changing your Vectorworks Preferences>Display>Navigation Graphics>change to Good Performance and Compatibility. Either way the process is a step in order to create a Vectorworks intelligent Digital Terrain Model (Site Model) from a Point Cloud. Cheers, Peter -
Point size control for Point Clouds
Peter Neufeld replied to JeremyLondonRMLA's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
Hello, Once the Point Cloud has been imported just use the Model>Point Clouds>Extract 3D loci from Point Cloud. You can then manage the number up to 500,000 loci. Of course 3D loci can be used as Source Data for a Site Model. No need to export anything. Cheers, Peter -
Slow Performance - Slow when changing sheet views
Peter Neufeld replied to Steve Nield's question in Troubleshooting
Dear Steve, If you go to the Spotlight Preferences>Parameters you can see that out of the box, before user customisation, Lighting Devices have 74 record fields. So multiply by 1000 requires a lot of processing as each one has to be accounted for. Anyway that's a big show off with 1000 Sharpies! Cheers, Peter -
Slow Performance - Slow when changing sheet views
Peter Neufeld replied to Steve Nield's question in Troubleshooting
Dear Steve, You should try and use the Vectorworks library items as they've been optimised for Vectorworks. Also, try going to the Tools>Purge command. Make sure there aren't any co-incident (duplicated) objects as there might be a lot. Cheers, Peter -
Thanks Justin for this information and that diagram is very useful. I'm sure the button for 'Change Cross Section' used to be in the OIP but I can only get to this now by right clicking the Truss object and finding it in the contextual menu. Is that the only way to access 'Change Cross Section'? Thanks, Peter

Fantastic! Thanks Conrad for this new forum - and for an amazing piece of software that is ConnectCAD! It is so useful I don't think that anyone who has to put any type of system together willl ever look back. Cheers, Peter

Pre-select -highlight color change
Peter Neufeld replied to SeanOSkea's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
Hello, I agree with the comments here. In my beginners class for professionals, within the first 90 minutes, I get them to change the selection colour to a light blue and the pre-selection to a light green with a delay timer of a few seconds. Jeremy's use of the thicker width to overlap the preselection colour is a good idea without a delay. However having a timer delay mostly avoids the issue. I find working for a long time that the blue and green are easier on the eyes than the orange. Cheers, Peter
