  1. Andy and Kevin, thanks for your input, much appreciated.
  2. Pardon me. Just gonna jump in here and say moving lit stage projects to C4D is neither particularly easy nor efficient, at least for me. Having to learn a software as complex as C4D in order to render fog just seems has been ludicrious to me, esp. when all that is available in the Cinerender engine and I could / should be learning a few new tools and workflows, instead of the massive beast that a full fledged modeler / renderer like C4D is.
  3. Not to hijack the thread, but do sweeps incur large overhead for the geometry they create?
  4. Just gonna jump in here and say that Vision is definitely NOT the tool to be looking at for renders. IMHO it's very much still under construction and has many quirks which are crazy-making (I'm looking at you shutter package).
  5. And when is there a plethora of time to get the plot done these days I wonder? So, do you mean to say you re-class all your lighting objects, 2d down to the individual parts in the three d model?
  6. Could the below contribute to the perception of classing problems? You're looking at a 2017 26º ETC LUSTR II SYMBOL. Why does the classing shift between incandescent & LED on body elements? If this is a sloppy build, wonder how many more of these are in the libraries.

OMG!! I'm ready for that in VW NOW!
  8. Andy: thanks for the detailed analysis. Concur in all regards.

EA: So many helpful tips in your post above, thanks. It IS all in the lighting!
  10. Even a tooltip or hover tip would be helpful. Not the best solution, but in the interim… For ex: Who knows which milestone project below is V1 and which V0?
  11. So sadly true. And, the fact that, order to get readable filenames on a tab it must be apparently 24 characters or less and in this century, that limitation is worse than passé and frankly, inexcusaeable. Even a tooltip or hover tip would be helpful. Not the best solution, but in the interim… Not even gonna talk about how visually unattractive the tabs system is (also, sorry, gotta say it again, how ugly the resource browser colors are) Who knows which milestone project below is V1 and which V0?
  12. Yes, this is a most useful find Kevin, thanks.
  13. Super useful and super cool KM, thanks.
  14. + a million, as my kids would say. we've been hamstrung; those of us who've plumped for the C4D-as-a-render-solution are spending thousands of dollars and countless hours to improve our product with a tool which USED TO BE BETTER.
  15. Kevin, thanks for the detailed breakdown, including the "where's Waldo" bit.
  16. thank you Thank You THANK YOU for shining a light on the right click function to add a leader line.
  17. ironically, I'd probably solve for this by drawing the item in 3d, setting the camera and view to suite then turning that into aPDF or raster image. Or: flatten it as a 2D graphic.
  18. A pseudoscope is a binocular optical instrument that reverses depth perception. It is used to study human stereoscopic perception. Objects viewed through it appear inside out, for example: a box on a floor would appear as a box shaped hole in the floor. Pseudoscope - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudoscope
  19. I grab a snap off the web, cut out what doesn't work then turn that into an image prop.
  20. It would be awesome to see a howto / workflow on this merging thing. I want to create an act i and an act ii set of files, using the same foci for the mover rig in each. thx//michaelM
