  1. By the way, this is a frightening and totally beautiful data display
  2. @line-weight: please elaborate on that workflow when you have a sec. I am interested.
  3. When d'you expect VWX will be entirely 64 bit compliant Jim?
  4. Dang, this exactly why I love this place!! Thanks @scottmoore!!
  5. The problems I tend to run into are more of the multiple transmissible materials type. Where certain objects (and there can be a lot of them) need to have varying degrees of transmissibility both in a transparency sense and a backlit/frontlit sense, ex; A translucent plex panel, scored to allow full transparency and also front-lit and the cyc behind backlit. Not sure how to accomplish that with one texture like @scottmoore suggests. I am extremely interested to see if possible tho! I dug the reflective lit blue panel above.
  6. Try rolling your own textures, starting perhaps with duplicating one which is too transparent. duplicate it in the resource browser and edit it till you come up with something you like. Lampshade1.vwx
  7. Oh, you mean BeamViz? Here it is (center cone) next to it's Spotlight cousins. Spotlight continues to behave badly in this respect. BeamViz has worked pretty dang well for me over the last weeks. Can BeamViz be directed to focus to Spotlight Focus Points? Best a both worlds!!
  8. Ok. Never thought I'd find that toolset useful, but today, multiple times I have pulled that out to quickly revise a texture more to my liking - et voila! Ça suffit! Thank you VW Team, for putting some sparkle back in my day.
  9. Does a simple symbol replace solve that issue for @SCParker?
  10. It's good to be validated, tho personally, I'd rather I had screwed something up and you all would point out how simple my mistake really was, and fixable by x/y/z.
  11. It's Sunday. I'm working a last minute set of changes. Tight deadline. VW 2019 SP2 build 463397, here's the custom renderworks (very medium or low everything), showing the Spotlight fixture's wireframe beam upside down. Fast renderworks is the same of course.
  12. Classes and visibility should get you to the same place you mentioned AC getting you.
  13. Great Chart. Can that chart be drilled down to show filtered by machine type (MBP 15" late 2015, for ex) or by os, etc?
  14. The single biggest (internal) benchmark is very simple: does this release make my client's workflow easier and quicker, and how? ^^
  15. Ok, Since when has V1 software assumed the mantle of acceptable beta software, released to the public? V1 in my book means ready for business (otherwise why release something which is not ready?) V0.9, maybe not so much. V2 and greater? I find it unacceptable that v2 crashes, is stilled filled to the brim with bugs old and new. Just not cool.
  16. And, as a sole practitioner, all of what Eric wrote resonates times five at least. There is no one (except me) to update the templates or test new software's readiness, because there are already too many tasks to accomplish. I read recently in a post by @digitalcarbon that he has someone come in to 'clean' the resource browser on project files. I would kill for that alone, esp after receiving a file from other parties with personalized class and layer structures which have nothing to do with my practice. c
  17. @ericjhberg Very well spoken. I feel exactly the same. Thank you for taking the time to write this.
  18. So, what I have done is make a dummy lighting biject named Dummy, and I make sure it's the last item in my lists. When it becomes truncated it does not affect my counts. See the attached screen shot.
  19. Thanks Mike. I hadn't worked with the blurriness option before that test file. Hugely informative. I used the attached pic as a IRL goal to approach. As yet I have not dug in along the lines @Andy Broomell suggested above.
  20. I can't tell you how many times I have seen THAT
