  1. try this: use File-Export PDF then select Export patterns at on screen resolutions
  2. I can't find how to hide the pink working plane grid while in OpenGL render. I generally like having it visible, but sometimes it gets in the way... Thanks
  3. You can do it in individual Viewports as VP Class Overrides. Also if you use the Export PDF command you can set the Grey Level for greyed Layers and Classes. Probably neither of these are exactly what you are looking for, but maybe useful.
  4. I can't believe it. It works! The walls are back! Thank you!!! I don't understand why the origin has anything to do with it...but I am happy. Its weird because first I tried using the Tools>Set Origin Command, and set the origin to match the building, but that didn't work...but then I tried it by actually moving the objects to match the existing origin and it worked! So now I have to go in and edit the crop for each viewport, but at least I don't have to re-create all of the VP's from scratch...(especially since I have used a lot of VP class and layer overrides...this is great. Thanks everyone.
  5. Thanks for the brainstorm. I tried resetting VW Preferences, no dice. Also a "purge unused objects" The file is about 100 Mb's... I might try going back to SP1
  6. Thanks Pat. No, it is not a class issue, all classes turned on. Open GL options set on Low and Use Textures. And it is not just OpenGL, it is all rendering modes. It is file specific. If I copy/paste to a new file it is fine. In order to get the sample file small enough I just deleted a couple dozen design and sheet layers. What gets me confused is that Lucylou is reporting VW2008, I am on 09. . I can't figure this out. I am in a world of hurt.
  7. This is the second time I have had walls disappear in 3D views. Here are some screenshots. 1). Wire frame view, note the walls are outlined: 2). OpenGL rendering, NO WALLS!: 3). Same view, but after copy/pasting this into a brand new file: I have attached a sample file. Note that it is an educational file, so do not copy/paste anything from this file into one of your project files. It will put a watermark on it. You will not have a problem otherwise. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The solution of copy/pasting everything into a new file is not really a workable option. I have too many viewports and sheet layers that would need to be re-built...Many, many hours of work. And then what if it happens again? Thanks Wes and anyone for taking on this challenge. I have quit and restarted both VW and my computer and it still is a problem. Thanks
  8. Same thing applies to being able to Copy/Paste a Sheet Layer Viewport into another file.
  9. One problem I have with image props is that you can't use Hidden Line with them...they come up as a rectangle, or crossed rectangles...not an outline of the person or object... I still like them for many reason, but that is one considerable drawback.
  10. There are also some here: http://www.vectordepot.com/symbols/ But you would need someone else to open it, and back-save it to VW11 and post it or send it to you. I would do it, but I am on an Educational License, and it would become "infected" with a watermark...not something I want to spread.
  11. To set up the grids to snap to in F,L,R,B views you could assign the grid lines to a class for each elevation view, then create saved views of each one in order to quickly navigate between them. Your second comment has been submitted as a Wish List item before.
  12. You're basically correct. Knowing of course that you can also use Design Layers to control visibility. I thought of suggesting the use of VP Class Overrides, (Where you assign attributes to a class using the class properties and "Use at Creation" checked. Then in the OIP change the class attributes in that VP.) BUT, class overrides does not seem to work with Gradients.
  13. No it has been around for a while. Select your Sheet Layer Viewport, in the Object Info Palette, look at down at the bottom and click "Advanced Properties" Check B/W only.
  14. I added a wishlist sometime ago about having "Greyscale" be one of the options for Viewports under Advanced Properties...right below "B&W only" Until then try this: On a mac: Either don't select "Black & White Only." Or you can duplicate the Viewport right over the top of itself. So you have two VP's stacked directly on top of each other. Now in the one on top you can turn on "Black & White Only." Now you have nice black lines, but you still see the color fills below. Use the 'Print>Save As PDF' or 'File>Export>PDF' Open the PDF in Preview Go to File>Save As> then set the Quartz Filter to Grey Tone. Now you have the fills as a grey tone and solid black linework.
  15. Or hit "Help" in the menu bar and do a search, for example "mirror."
  16. There is a NNA Video on this: http://kbase.nemetschek.net/index.php?ToDo=view&questId=162&catId=29 Note you can also hit the "Help" button on the Menu bar and search "Resources" to get a bunch more information...
  17. mmmm...a cold one sounds really good right now...
  18. Nice. Tempting to put a moat around my buildings just so I can get some cool renderings...
  19. You would have to describe the issue, preferably with images.
  20. Hey Bill, I just played with the file you posted. Changing only the angle of view (to have a lower incident angle to the water) I got this:
  21. The trackpad script did not work for me. It resulted in a crazy snap-back when zooming. I replaced my user preferences folder and now just use a mouse and it works fine. Since you are an architecture student, you might want to change your Workspace to Architect. I don't know why the default is Machine Design.
  22. I am generally dissatisfied with the Entourage Figures...they just look scary. I like these guys better, even though they are flat and non-reconfigurable: http://www.vectordepot.com/symbols/

    WTF??

WTF indeed. I have one file that did this. I found that copying and pasting into a new file fixed it. Although that means re-building veiwports...lots of work. Maybe the someone out there has the solution. Arrow heads on doors: After copy/pasting into a new file:
