SOLVED - I think someone mentioned this, and I had tried it, but I needed a save/quit/restart to make it happen - so apologies for missing that. In the resource browser for the symbol - Edit Symbol Options - View as Uncut below when Cut in Viewport AND Display 2D Components must be checked in the viewport options.
-
Thanks. Still can't get it. Attached is the image in top/plan in design layer. The settings I'm using for the horizontal cut, and what I'm getting in the viewport. As you can see, it's still giving me the cut view, not the symbol view, in the horizontal section viewport. (I want the blue filled rectangles to show up in the ground plan, not the section style objects)

Attached. In the classes "City Panels" and "Tree Panels" - I would like to see the 2D component when I create a horizontal section viewport for a ground plan. (I realize I could go in and edit annotations and do in "manually", but it seemed to me like there should be a way?) Thanks! A Little Night Music.vwx

Yeah I thought it might be that, so I switched it and i didn't seem to change anything.

They are hybrid 2D/3D symbols - not lighting devices, just panels and scenic chandeliers.

I have a bunch of symbols I've created for a show - various panels and hanging fixtures. They have 2D and 3D components to them. I would like the 2D version of the symbol to show up in a horizontal section viewport when I create a ground plan. Is this possible? I have selected "Display 2D components" in the create viewport dialogue. I thought this was supposed to make this happen, but I am still getting the cut-through version of the 3D component in my ground plan.

I have a camera view set up, final quality, and I'm trying to create a viewport of that view. When I did this yesterday, the viewport was cropped exactly to the camera view. Now today, when I go to my sheet layer, it is showing my entire model, and not cropping to the camera view. I know I can crop the viewport, but I have multiple sets, and I wanted each view/crop to be the exact same, so I set up a Saved View for this exact reason. Also, it should be working just like it did yesterday. What's the fix? Thanks.

When I rendering in final quality, I like what I'm seeing (image 1) - the door is in silhouette. When I export image file, or export pdf, the door is "lit". (image 2) (notice also the lighting on the portal changes - it's darker in image 2, whereas the door is lighter... ??) Why the change? I only have single light near the door (point light in front of the bust). Why is it changing when I render?

Yes I did, that's what is so frustrating, I am using the exact same settings.
-
Yeah I did wireframe so you could see how things were set up. Then went to Renderworks final.

I have the texture set to Image, Reflectivity - Glass, Transparency - Image. Light at 100%, angled down through the panel. The Image is on an 3' line, extruded 18' down, so 0" depth. And I get zero light coming through. Last image in Final Renderworks front view.

Can you do me a favor and send me that file (the one you lit with my panel in it?) I just can't get the same results. Thanks.
-
Thank you so much!

I am certainly not getting the results you are getting. And I've never had this issue before, I have done this before quite often, but my last version was 2023... did something change? test file attached. transparency test.vwx

The active class was "tree panel" - I created both rectangles - path and profile, in that class, then extruded along path, then tried to Edit Profile. I've done this a million times before, that's why I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I never changed classes while creating the objects then extruding etc.
-
Yes, none class... thank you. I thought the path and the profile were supposed to be in the same class you were working in?
-
Yes, thanks. It's in the class ALNM - tree panel. Should be active etc. A Little Night Music.vwx

it was working fine just a few hours ago, now, when I try to edit and extrude along path object, when I am "in" profile, or path, there is nothing to edit - I see the shape of the object grayed out, as usual, but the editable path or profile is not there. AND when I exit Path, the object has disappeared. If I open a DIFFERENT class - the object reappears again. When I hied that different class, my original object stays visible. Everything is in the SAME class and layer - the active layer/class I am working on. Nothing is in two classes/layers, these are all simple "just created" objects. I have tried over and over, same results.

I have an 1/8" extruded plane that I have a stained glass image texture applied to. I chose "Plain" for Transparency. I set a point light behind it. When I'm in Shaded (OpenGL?) it renders nicely and I can see the opaque color. When I try Fast or Final Quality Renderworks, it disappears. I have tried tweaking the opacity settings, pushing the light emitter up to 1000%, different transparency settings etc. Nothing I do seems to make a difference. I'm tryingn to get backlit painted muslin. How do I get it to work with Renderworks rendering. thanks.

When in Final Quality Renderworks, I am getting a pale blue/white ghost light showing up that I can't turn off. I only have ONE point light source turned on (in a fireplace) - which is casting a red/orange glow directionally over the set. But up on some beams, and top edges of walls, there is a pale blue light hitting from up right. I have: Environment lighting OFF Ambient Lighting OFF No other light sources (truned on and off classes to make sure of this) No renderworks background. When I place a huge wall to the right - it blocks this mysterious light and it no longer is seen on the scenery. This proves it's a light source and has direction. img 1 shows the light hitting img 2 shows the set with the huge wall to the right. But where is it coming from, and how do I turn it off? thanks.

I used to use the softgoods tool to create scrim - 3D options to scrim, the set pleat width and pleat depth to 0". Now, however, when I set the depth and width, they default to 1'0" for width, and 2" for depth. How do you go about creating a flat scrim now?

I'm trying to add a Technical Director field to a title block. In Manage Project Data, I add a new custom field, and make sure Display checkmark is on. When I go back to edit the title block so I can link the field, the text is not showing anywhere on my sheet layer, so I can't link it. I only seem to be able to edit and link text that is already in the title block I was editing. What step am I missing?

I'm trying to compose a few lines in order to create a path to extrude along for the rim of a bath. I have done this in previous versions but upgraded to 22, and now when I try to compose, the different lines move about and don't compose. These are crated using arc tool and 2D polygon tool, but tried with nurbs curves with similar results.
