@Zoomer I do not think you really understand what I was saying If I have a crash I have no need to do this or that I just start using the other computer and keep working That is it What I am saying is use two computers, mirror and back up And @JimW because you are amazing and do so much good and great stuff here Your 3D Printer stuff ... very cool etc etc etc Thanks so much mate for being here and being you But ... on the latest Mac OS how many backwards versions of VW can be installed? :confused: And on Windowz 8.1 how many versions can you install backwards? :blush: D

Which is what I would do except ... I run two very fast W 8.1 puters one a desktop (Bout a year old) signature below and the other a laptop which is just a tiny bit slower The laptop has an almost identical external keyboard and monitor so that if my desktop fails I can keep working in an environment I am used to - same workspace etc My VW user folder is synced to both machines using Bit Torrent Sync http://www.getsync.com/ Meaning if I have a crash or a problem with my main puter - my desktop - I can continue on with my laptop as all my resources are immediately available on it When I set this up maybe a year ago I thought - nah - will never use it but about a month later my then ASUS desktop had a hard drive failure - first in my life using Windowz puters going back to W 95 and earlier My philosophy is to not run one computer but to run two which is what I do and have done for years My laptop does emails, is portable and mainly what I use at night playing with web sites, take with me when I visit clients etc. My desktop is my serious work machine. But ... they are both back ups to each other in that if one fails I can get on with it and use the other straight away To set up my system not including software would cost around 4.5 to 5 K Given the speed and resources available of either puter I wonder what a similar Mac set up would cost? Each machine has spare internal and added external hard drives and I back up to both and the cloud using Crash Plan http://www.code42.com/crashplan/ This means for each machine I have three back up copies that are fresh and identical VW user folders on two machines using Bit Torrent Sync The key to Windowz is good quality components and just knowing what you are doing A year ago when my ASUS desktop had a hard drive issue within half an hour I had started work on my laptop because I could retrieve my files through Crash Plan If people like Macs they like Macs and if others like Windowz as I do who cares as that really is not the point I know my W 8.1 puters will run several versions of Vectorworks going backwards and I need that functionality - can Macs do that seamlessly and easily - I do not know; perhaps others can chime in I have no need at all that I can see to use a Mac and really wonder if anyone could sit beside me with their Mac and explain logically and completely why I would be better off using one What is important is to have a safety net if something crashes - I do and it works for me really well And - back up - back up - back up Oh and by the way - totally Android also and I cannot remember when one of my puters crashed

Hi Tui, Yes I would imagine as a drop down function in the right click menu or similar Seems to me a long way to travel - select an object in a Class or Layer then off to OIP to change that Class or Layer D

Thoughts anyone? Could be easier and quicker than going to Object Info

Hi mate, Does this help? You can Auto Number on separate Layers Tag and Number Options - tick separate numbering on each Layer In attached file look at layers shrubs and trees are on First Additional Field I have called Plant Type Make sense?

Just found out from our distributors over here in oz VW 2015 when using hatches etc has reduced published or exported Pdf file sizes So thought I would do a test A 15 A1 Sheet landcape design with lots of hatches plants etc when published to Pdf in VW 2014 - about 36 mb Same file published to Pdf in VW 2015 - about 12 mb That is quite amazing

Hi B, I think the font size of the Plant Tag may come from what font size was active when you created the plant or Edit it but ... and I do not really know it may be different ... If you edit a plant in the drawing it may be different to editing same plant in the Resource Browser - Landmark not in front of me at the moment to check

Sorry Jim, Change = replace with abilty to assign a right click shortcut Just like in MS Word You right click an image and have an option to Change Picture, maybe good to Save from there also Same with Pdfs Rotate, crop maybe also:)

If I have imported an image or Pdf into a drawing; if I want to change it - I want to be able to right click it and have an option to change the pdf or image This is not possible now is it?

If I draw a rectangle select it Shift+M move the rectangle then say 9 I can draw a wall straight away but doing same thing .... draw a rectangle select it Shift+M move the rectangle then say Alt+= the little round protractor thingy is there for a moment but disappears straight away and the Rotate Tool does not engage If I select the Tool directly from the Basic Tool Palette it does

In a top plan view if I use the Move By Points Tool and whilst it is still active use keyboard short cut Alt = to use the Rotate Tool the Move By Points Tool does not disengage allowing the Rotate Tool to become Active If doing the same and I use keyboard shortcut say 1 for Text, Text does become active If I have selected an object and use the Rotate Tool ? Alt = and then use Ctrl M to activate the Move By Points tool it deactivates the Rotate Tool Therefore shouldn?t the Rotate Tool shortcut deactivate the Move by Points Tool as the opposite works? Or am I nuts or is it Windowz or is there another reason?

Having another crack at this If I have a Standards File with my Classes all predefined and ready to go? When in an active file to create a new class from my Standards I open the Navigation Palette select Tab Classes, right click on a Class and then select the Class / Classes I want to import from my Standards File ? all ok I know if you select multiple Classes this will not work unless ? I want to be have the option to Activate that Class if I have selected only one in the Edit Classes dialogue or if I have selected multiple Classes to have the option after I have selected Activate Class to select from a drop down list of the imported Classes which I wish to activate Now we import a Class from a Standards file and then have to activate that Class elsewhere If it was all available in the same dialogue it could save lots of time Same for Layers etc
