  1. Hi, I couldn't find information about the Line Render Modes in VW2011. I use Hidden Line Render Mode and Dashed Hidden Line Render a Lot when I construct Parts for Sets. Do they exist or did they leave with the Mechanics Modul and the the old Renderwork. Also the Sketch render Modes where an interesting feature, and in C4D Sketch Render Modes are not Part of the Prime Version (which is the one NVW used for renderworks if I got the recent threads in the Forum right).
  2. Hallo, I did some drawings for a upcoming Concert, where I wanted to do the Paperwork for the Technicians and to check the Look of the Stage. I ended (for the Moment ) with (for a Lightplot) not very complex Plan. On Top, or better arround that Plan I have modeled some Parts of the House Maschinery, as it is an Industrial Memorial with a special Look. I didn't tak long, and I got some acceptable Renederings, even in OpenGL with resolution set to Medium. During the Cration of the paperwork, Plans, Sections I ran into some Problems which I don't know how to solve. 1rst: The Section. The first Step was a Sideview in Wireframe. Well. worked. But the resulting pdf is 9.3MB, and doesn't look nice. Then after a lucky day of Vectorworking with no uexpected Probelms I became brave and tried a Section Viewport along the Centerline of the Stage.... :-( After the Message, "not enough Memory ..." most of my Model was gone or ivisible. I quit Vectorworks without saving and started it again and my Model was back. But: The filesize was exploded from 58MB to 120MB. ???? Any Idea why? Is there a smart way (without destroing the work) to do a Section of a more Complex Plan? Lucky me I had backuped the File before I staretd the "Section Viewport Adventure". I was not brave enough to try a hidden Line rendering of a Viewport, after my last Experience with a simple fence where I received more than 300.000 invisible Polygons instead of a few lines... 2nd: Symbols destroied by unrotating Components. After I edited I annotations in a 2d Viewport, I found some Patrts of a Symbol where unrotated. This Thing is really driving me up the walls. Does anybody know if this nice little feature for people with a lot of time to waste ships with VW2011? I attach some images that you can get an Idea of what I'm talking about. Horst M.
  3. Hallo, I recently worked with some models from the 3dwarehouse (Sketchup6) witout problems. May be the File you have is created with too new Version. (I don't think that skp8 Files are supported, it is too new) Try with a Sketchup6 File From the 3d warehouse. If the import Fails also, I guess it's something for the Tech. Suport. If the import works, ask your partner to save the File as sketchup6. Horst M.
  4. Hi, I'm zooming in and out all the time with pushing the lower part of that white button on the Side of the Pen, and then moving the Tip of the Pen on the Surfcae of the Tablett. It's zooming in and out depending on the direction you move the Pen. The effect is very "speedy", and it took a moment to get used to it. But now it works perfect me. (well, somtimes if I hit an object before I pushed the Button I drag that poor thing all across my drawing... but thanks to CMD+Z this is not a big Problem) I didn't change anything in the Setup of VW nor in the Setup of the Tablett.
  5. Thats a tough one! A bug in the line tool? Autsch!
  6. Have we been herad.....? http://planet.vectorworks.net/2010/09/nemetschek-vectorworks-inc-announces-partnership-with-maxon-computer/ The question is just, if we also have a interface to do rendering in C4d or if my investment in C4D Architecture is a payment for my impatience in RW and now worthless. Because besides fast Rendering ther is also the Shaders, Materials Texturemapping in C4d much smarter than in RW. We will see..
  7. RW is a painfull part of VW and a serious ouverhaul is a must. I'm just afraid what happens to VW if NNA puts efforts in RW. I don't want to be unfair, but I have the impression, that problems cured in one place causes Probelms in other Places. So I'm not shure if it wouldn't be better if NNA gives us a smart interface to a 3rd Party render app, and put all the efforts in testing VW, and repairing timeconsuming missbehaviours like unrotation Symbols, 3 Stair tools each with different issues... ....Maxon already belongs to Nemetschek... in the German Version Animationworks is already integrated, there is also a tool called symbol line, that allows to draw zigzag, wave and other lines... I'm also surprised, that RW is based on Lightworksdesign... why don't we get what it is able to...? just thoughts. even with all the whining im happy to have VW2010.
  8. For my Point of View it is more promissing (and less painfull) using a plain green background in RW and doing the composting with the Green- or Bluescreen Technology that islandmons link on the top of this thread demonstrates. There was recently a thread related to this: http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=142850&Searchpage=1&Main=24880&Words=background&Search=true#Post142850 unfortunately the linked example seem to be gone.
  9. Shure. Actually it was mostly the Duplicate Array tool that I used. First I created the Cube on the Workplane 0 point. Move the Cube you created 175mm (half its hight) on the Z Axis down, to align the Center of the Cube to the 0 Point of the Workplane. Then I offset it (in Plan View Y Direction) to get the diameter (therefore I used the 2 Circles in the Drawing). Then I used the duplicate Array tool to create 20 Cubes on a Circle. (Circluar Array, rotate Objets by angle; Angle set to 360?/20). Delete the original Cube; it overlaps with a new one. 20 copies fill the 3150mm Circle without intersections. I rotated this 20 Cubes 90? along the Y Axis. Delete 270? of Cubes. Now you have 6 Cubes forming a 90? Array with one Cube on the ?quator, one on the Southpole, and 4 on the Arc in between Use the Duplicate Array tool on each of the Cubes to form the Rings. You have to experiment with the Number of Cubes that fit on each Ring. You could also Calculate it, but it was very fast to figure it out by try and error. Use the mirror tool to get the upper half of your Sphere. In my previous File, the Cubes on the upper and lower two Rings still have intersections. May I ask what You are doing with this Object? Reinventing the MIrrorball? ;-)
  10. 3d Symbols definately unrotate due to a bug! I can somehow reproduce it. It happens to rotated Symbols on invisible Classes, if I change the Class Options in the Navigation Palette, for example from Show/Snap/Modify others to Snap Others or show others, nad If I change the Current View after changing the Class Option. When I did that, and make the Class with the rotated symbols visible again, they are all unrotated. It's definately a (desaterous) Bug! I haven't figured out a definte recipy yet, but i f I play with rotating the Symbols, Changing the Class Options, and Visiblities of the Symbiols, and the Current View. The 3d Symbols unrotate.
  11. Hi Dan, I'm not shure if I understand you right. Are you trying to get what's shown in the Files attached?
  12. Hi, I use a Wacom Bamboo Fun Pen Tablett in a 2 Screen setup. And I must say, that I don't want to miss the Pen for drawing in VW. This works perfect for me. It is very fast and precise. For most of the other Applications, I use the multitouch posibilities of the Tablett, which can be switched of, if I want o use the Pen only. To draw on my MacBook Pro with the built in Trackpad works, but find it tiring for the Hand muscles. (I would expect the same from the new Trackpad) If I have to use the Macbook for a longer session with VW I still use a USB Trackball....missing my Tablett and the Pen which is in the Office.. :-)
  13. you could try with Custom RW and set the Auto Exposure to 95% or something you like.
  14. From what I've seen I can tell, that Allplan it is fully parametric, and has strong workgroup featueres. I don't have any Idea about the Freeform Modelling Capabilties. And it's WIndows only... There is a 30 day trial available. I'm happy with The current link from VW to C4d. For a recent Project that helped me a lot. But well, there are week Points in the Export Process.
  15. like i wrote before: Thats the last update for the Plugin that is available without owning the C4d 11.5 Arch. Edition. if you have VW 2010 you can't use this plugin.
  16. bernas, the smartest link to C4D that I've seen is from Nemetschek Allplan. http://cadconsulting-usa.com/ I saw Colleagues use it. Wow! But the price is also ... wow
  17. Hallo, There is an Export Plugin from VW2010 to Cinema only for C4d 11.5. C4d 11 goes with VW2009. Maxon changed the policy for the plugin with the upgrade to C4d 11.5 and VW 2010. This change was very "silent". I was waiting for the update, and once in a while checking in the downloads area of Maxon. But the update didn't show, so I asked the Support. They informed me, about the change, and that I already have the Plugin as a Part of my 11.5 Architechture Edition...... But. If you have tha same Z level Problems with 3ds export, there must be somthing wrong with the File, because 3ds export is Part of VW2010, the export plugin for C4d is a 3rd Party tool. If they produce the same result that's strange If you post a FIle I'd like to examine that.
  18. Hi Bernas, The messed up Z-Values is a behaviour that I know from the C4d Export Plugin for VW2009 if it is used with VW 2010. The Version# of the Plugin for VW 2010 is 15.nn. As far as I know Maxon doesn't sell it seperatly anymore The updated Plugin for 2010 is also not on the Website. It is Part of the Architect Edition, and located in an Exchange Folder inside the Programm Folder. I haven't had a Problem yet with the export of different Layers at the same time. What ever is visible will be exported. You could try to "Align Layer Views" before you export. But that is just an idea, thinking, that your Problem might have to do with the new Unified View...
  19. That's a nice hint, Thanks Jonathan
  20. Hallo, in this special Case you could try to slice the Models, and give the Slices different colours. Not very elegant but for shure faster, than texturing a bunch of Nurbs surfaces and fiddeling with offset and size of the Stripes...
  21. Depends how the colour is applied is the renderworks texture. If it is "Plain Colour" you can change it inside of VW. If it is an "Image colour" you can export the image part, modifiy that file with Photoshop, Inkscape or any other Bitmap manipulation software, and use the result as an image in the colur chanel of the renderworks texture.
  22. Hi, If you have a HASP4 Dongle, it could be the Case, that you have a Series that has doesn't work with the Driver for OSX 10.6. My local reseller told me that they will change it if I have Problems with the dongle after updating to OS X 10.6 It seems to be impossible to find out which HASP4 Series you have before having Problems ....
  23. Have you tried if you can do something with the Shaders You could use Horizontal Stripes in the Bump Channel, And select the "Plain Colour" from the Palette you like. Have fun Horst M.
  24. Hi, her are the times for my desktop Mac MacPro 2x 2x2,66GHz (Intel Xeon) RAM 5 GB ATI X1900 512MB OS X 10.5.8 OpenGL: 0.5 Fast RW: 0.7 Fast RW w/Shadows: 0.7 FQRW: 0.6 Custom RW: 0.6 Fast Rad: 1.1 FQRad: 15.0 Custom Rad: 14.7 @Pat, I doublechecked the times for my MB-Pro, with the same result as before.
  25. Pat, I think there is a little mistake in the chart. I did both tests for my previous Post (#142359) with the MB Pro Laptop, to check if there is any Speed difference between the two built in Graphics Controllers. I haven't done the test with the MacPro 4x2.66 /8GB ... yet
