  1. Hey, I copied them to the finder folder, exactly where the origin is. Originally vw would just crash, but i only tried it once, i knew there was an update so pretty much downloaded it straight away. specifically: Applications; Vectorworks 2008; Plant database; Vw Plants That's the destination where it's being launched from too - i tried to launch it from 'plant database' and 'VW Plants' with the same results. Thanks
  2. Am I missing something? a program to run it maybe? Hi All, I updated the vw plants database by downloading and swapping the two files for the two new ones. When i go to open the new VW plants database - it still wont open. This is what it says: 'The Primary file "VW Plants" is either not part of this application, is damaged, or is already open' I've tried opening it from Vw too, it just crashes from there, and that message from the finder window file - I, of course, restarted my computer when it said that and tried again fresh, i've reinstalled it, reinstalled Sp2, even reinstalled Vw and still the same thing? What have i done wrong?
  3. Hey thanks everyone that posted. I have just converted from a pc to a mac very recently - so i must admit that I was a bit ignorant when it comes to the way of the mac. I've since done a lot of browsing and research. Anyway, I updated my os, to 10.5.1 and i updated the vectorworks to 12.5.3, after i figured out how to open it with stuffit etc. So all is fixed! and may i say, running better than i have ever seen! ..fantastic! I had endless issues with vw and my old pc, this was a great move to a mac and i would recommend it to anyone! Matt
  4. Hi Robert, Thank you for any input but i think you may misunderstand my issue.
  5. Hi, When i draw, as i've gone through this project, the guide that shows the lines that have been done behind me, as i'm doing them, have gone so i'm kinda drawing blind. So, everything that is drawn shows up, but not the stuff I'm drawing as I'm drawing it. It doesn't matter what drawing tool i use it's always the same. As i went through the project it started off with a strong line, then at some stage i noticed the line going dashed, then i'd have to wiggle it to get it to show up, and now it doesn't even show. Any solutions? Cheers Matt Vw 12.5.2; Macbook pro 2.2; 2g ram
  6. North - i am having the same issues, have been for some time now, its really frustrating and their seems to be no way around it. Is your graphics per chance Nvidia go7400 ...? The problem seems to be that there actually does not exist, as yet, a proper driver for this card in vista. i have downloaded and installed, reinstalled, unistalled so many different ones, some dodgy, some off vista, some off nvidia, some off hp.com ...*sigh! I have been in talks with the people that sold me the vectorworks and they have been in talks with their people - and they cant give me an answer. I' beginning to think Vw was a waste of money and i should have stuck to autocad.
  7. see the thread below called 'uninstall 12.5.0' it says to drag the icon to the trash bin, and then delete the contents of the bin.
  8. further, I have uninstalled quicktime and reinstalled it. i have installed different versions, i have uninstalled vectorworks and reinstalled it using the quicktime from the cd after uninstalling that! That has got my Vw back - but its back to the original problem, it crashes really quick on me, like within a few minutes of starting up. So it hasn't solved anything.
  9. Thanks for that - i will try that. Hey stupid question maybe - but how do you uninstall it in vista? there is no option for vectorworks in the uninstall program through control panel, or even ccleaner for that matter. Cheers
  10. Hey, sorry to double thread - i just started a thread named, 'vectorworks keeps crashing' and now i see this thread, and it seems to be the same issues. below the line is a cut and paste of my thread - its perhaps a little more detailed than others so i'll post here for you to read: I hope it gets resolved. ---------------------------------- I seem to be having some full on issues with my vectorworks. HP dv6000 Laptop with Intel core 2 cpu with T5500 1.67Ghz 2Gb ddr2 ram Nvidia go7400 256mb (128 dedicated 128 integrated) Windows Vista Home Premium Vectorworks 12.5.2 Last week it would crash on me within the first 3 or 4 minutes of openings when I went to do anything with some 3d imagery ? very simple stuff, not large files either, just starting the files up for a uni project, and it kept crashing on me. So I couldn?t do 3d at all which was frustrating enough. And yet it worked fine on anything that was 2d. I have done 3d in the past with no problems, big files too. When I say crash I mean this: it stops responding out of the blue, so that you can still move your pointer around, and open into other programs and all that, but when you sit your pointer over an icon it wont let you select anything, eventually it states ?vectorworks is not responding? and puts up the loading icon (vistas circle) ? I left it on one night to see if anything happened and it kept doing it all night ? in other words it will never respond, its crashed. Well now it wont even open at all, as of Wednesday night it just stopped opening ? it tries to start up and then I get this message: Vectorworks Application has stopped working Windows can check online for a solution to the program - check online for a solution and then close the program - close the program View problem details: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: VECTOR~1.EXE Application Version: 12.5.2.5505 Application Timestamp: 4654d31b Fault Module Name: QuickTime.qts Fault Module Version: 7.2.0.240 Fault Module Timestamp: 4684a825 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 001004f5 OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 5129 Additional Information 1: 720c Additional Information 2: 87abfdde4e44868a2d32f6948e899598 Additional Information 3: 072c Additional Information 4: a4dad178cb668e0ad64c9732c853becf Read our privacy statement: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=50163&clcid=0x0409 It says its a quicktime fault and I recall having some initial issues with it crashing a few months ago when i first got it and it turned out to be a quicktime thing, so I installed the latest quicktime and that fixed that. I have since tried that again to no avail?? I have uninstalled quicktime and reinstalled different versions etc - nup! I thought maybe it was an issue with the graphics card driver? But I have updated that too ? from both the nvidia driver website, and the hp website and the vista updating driver thing ? I have even uninstalled the driver and reinstalled ? nothing. I have done system restores from earlier points and that hasn?t done anything. Something appears to be not compatible ? I?m assuming it?s a mix between vista, nvidia, and vectorworks. I have up to date antivirus software and adware remover ? so I?m positively sure its not a virus of any sort. Any solutions? Anyone with the same issues? Cheers Matt -----------------------

  12. I get the same thing happen - sometimes the screen just wont render in final quality, sometimes it does, and sometimes it just goes black in the render window? This can happen in open GL too. I sometimes use the render camera and sometimes just click the 'set 3d view' button. When this happens i just restart Vectorworks and it quite often comes right, if it doesn't i restart the computer and then it comes right - only to happen again at some stage later in the day etc... ..very frustrating! Any solutions? Vectorworks 12.5.2 Windows Vista home Hp Laptop dv6000 with: Dual Core 2 1.66 Centrino 2G ddr2 Ram Nvidia go7400 Gpu
  13. ...does anyone know? any issues if it does? Cheers Vectorworks 12.5.2
  14. Hey there, I'm trying to have large plots of plants 2 spread and 1.5 spacing by using the rectangular array mode or triangular array mode with plain circles with no render inside, and the 'mass overlapping' box ticked so that it only shows the outline and not the centre lines. To give an overall form shape - this is on a 1:1000 scale on an A1 so its quite conceptual. Y'know - pretty straight forward i thought. But! no matter what shape i do - or what rendering i do, or whatever - it always completes a few circles on one side. Is this a known bug - i can't seem to find a way around it. I'm an autocad man trying my hand at vectorworks Any help would be much appreciated thanks
