  1. We are trying to use workgroup references within our drawing files, however we are using both MAC and PC computers and versions of vectorworks. Whenever a drawing file is created with references in on a pc and opened on a MAC vectorworks cannot find the reference. I think this may be due to the fact that vectorworks files created on a PC do not show with the correct icon on a MAC machine, showing the default 'unbknown item' icon instead, and requiring you to open them through vectorworks (ie they have no default program associated with them). Any advice would be appreciated. kind regards
  2. Is there a simple way to carry out a copy with base point type command... having to duplicate, then try to faff around putting it in the right relation to similar items (i.e. copying room furniture from one room to other idenentical rooms). I guess you could put in a loci, and include it all in a group and move it based on the loci snap, but that's a bit long winded for what should be a very simple procedure... I'm sure I just haven't figured out how o do this, as it seems like a pretty major omision if you can't do it... any guidance much appreciated
  3. We have two plan printers with the same problem, they are both from OCE, we have a TDS400 and a TCS400 (colour).
  4. Yes, I'm sure. I checked the printer preferences in Windows and the default is set to 100%. When I select the printer in VW the scaling shows 50% and has to be manually changed back to 100% for it to work properly. This isn't the case with the TDS400 plan printer, which says it's at 100%, yet also says that a single A1 page is 1670 x 1176mm. To be honest the other printers aren't that much of a problem because I can manually change the scaling back to 100%. The plan printer is a much bigger problem as whatever I do I cannot get it to give me the correct paper display area. I have some images of the plan printer setup and VW's showing the paper size wrong which I could put up somewhere for viewing if that would help.
  5. Was just looking at some other threads... is this an issue with the 300dpi limit? I've tried setting the printer driver preferences to use 300dpi printing and it makes no difference.. VW still changes the drivers scaling mode to 50%. Seems to be a pretty major flaw and was wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this. Strangely it works fine on the same printers from a Mac machine.
  6. ...oops, didn't finish the post... what I was wondering is if there was this option in VW/RW. We have tried 'messing around' with the texture scale and the object size and found it to give an unsatisfacorary result; no matter how hard we try it won't line up perfectly, and there is always an anomoly where the texture edges meet. Oh just re-read your post... sorry no, the problem is not that the scale is greyed out, the problem is that it seems to be the only way of choosing how the texture is repeated.
  7. Yes, than kyou this is the exact problem.. this is what in 3D terms is usually called "real world scaling" of a texture, i.e you set the actual real world size of the image to be used for the texture, and it then repeats according to the size of the object. As well as this, most 3D apps will have an option to specify how many times the texture image repeats regardless of what size the object to be mapped to is.
  8. Thanks for your reply. We were able to get the texture to sucessfully wrap around the inside of the sphere, it automatically uses a spherical mapping solution, and seems to do a fairly good job. Our main problem was that there was no way to set the texture scale to use just one instance of the image for the entire map, i.e. the texture would be tiled once, and stretch to fit the entire area of the mapping, VW's appears to have no option other than real world size for choosing how textures tile. I had thought that this was a fairly basic requirement of texture mapping, but I may be wrong... Hopefully this makes sense.
  9. Hello people, We are having enormous difficulty doing an incredibly simple task here in our office. We ar etrying to create a sky dome for our model. We have a 360 degree sky texture. We have a sphere object (with the mid circumference set at horizon level). We cannot figure out how to get the texture to map correctly to the sphere, there appears to be no option to set the texture size to the same size as the image (we have no way of knowing what 'real world' size to use for our texture). We then need the texture to start half way up the sphere (i.e. at the horizon line) This should be very simple, are we being a bit thick here?
  10. I have recently had VW12.5 Fund. installed onmy machine at work and I'm having some trouble printing. Every time I set the printer in the page setup it sets my printer scaling to 50% (not the vectorworks scaling, this is the print driver scaling). This is irritating, but not a problem for most of the printers that allow me to change the scaling back However for our 2 main plotters, a TDS400 and TCS400, the scaling option makes no difference to my Vectorworks pagesetup, it shows at 100%, and I don't have access to all of the plotter properties as they are networked. When you select the TDS400 and A1 paper (landscape), it tells me that the paper size is 1682x1188mm, twice that of an A1 sheet, If you then set your page size to proper A1 dimensions, it says under pages that both the horizontal and vertical values are 0.5! It looks very much like VW's is changing the scaling in the TDS plotters too, only with no way of me changing it back again. I have checked the scaling in my Windows printer preferences, and all printers are set to 100% scaling. I have played around with all scaling options possible in both vectorworks and the printer drivers and none of them make a difference... needless to say this is very frustrating
