  1. Yes, class over-rides and data visualization doesn't export via datasmith (maybe feature request??) Typically i import in TM by keeping the hierarchy. If you collapse by material, it's easy to override materials all in one go. If you want to make a white model, you can apply a camera effect (or other non-destructive effect)
  2. Looks like the texture doesn't have an opacity mask in TM. It wants to treat it as a solid. A workaround is to replace the texture in TM. Once you've done that, subsequent datasmith refreshes will keep the new texture.
  3. Thanks, I didn't think of converting the logo to a symbol. It's only 150kb, so I didn't think it would make the file so huge, but I guess it does
  4. Is there any reason a titleblock would increase the file size by 1.2 MB? The only graphic image is 150kb, and there are only 4 additional fields. A blank drawing with 6 titleblocks makes a file over 5 MB. Is there any way I can see where the bloat is coming from?
  5. Also having isses with certain objects in twinmotion. It seems basic extrudes cause problems when exporting with Datasmith. Converting to generic solids, or exporting as C4D works better.

    Horizontal Sections

    Ahhhh! Thank you
  7. Have an issue with horizontal sections. I have a hybrid symbol of a chair that is set under a table, where the back of the chair extends above the plane of the table top.. In plan view, it looks as expected. When I create a horizontal section at 5'h, the chairs appear placed above the table. A 20"h stool next to it behaves as expected. When it's done as a dashed hidden line, it shows a dashed line for the stool (under the table) but the chairs appear above the table. Any Idea how to make this work? H Section.pdf
  8. I had similar problems, when I deleted an extra leader line it would crash. Tech suggested I run the update/ repair ( open the Vectorworks Updater app in your Vectorworks 2021 folder and click on the advanced options and then click repair.) and that seemed to fix the problem
  9. It would be nice if we could quickly modify a viewport annotation, without having to enter the viewport annotation mode. Much like the X-Ray select mode, if we could hold down a key, it would allow us to select an annotation inside a viewport, and move it (or select and edit), without having to go through the process of "Edit annotation", exit annotation, etc.
  10. Thanks. Unless we attach it to the entire vwx library, we still have to manually attach it very time we add a new symbol or someting we download from a manufacturer.
  11. I've been experimenting with the Data Manager. I'd like to attach a record format to new symbol when it's inserted in the drawing. (Ex. add a vendor/ costing database to any symbol classed Equiment-Main) I have a class based rule set up, but when I create a worksheet, it looks like it's attached a database to every line of every object that makes up the symbol. I can't use a symbol based query, as I don't know what symbols will be added. Short of manually connecting the record format every time I add a symbol, is there a better way to do this?
  12. HI- What is the process to export sheets that are sections or elevations of 3D models? When I publish to DXF a plate with an elevation viewport, the annotations survive, but the elevation is missing. When I re-import into vwx, Viewports with plan views are okay, and some section viewports get re-imported as 2d symbols, but all my exterior elevations are gone. Any thoughts?
  13. Thanks. Yes, if the location is not part of the object (like class or layer) it would have to recalculate every time. Hmmmm
  14. Hi- This may be an easy one. Trying to make a worksheet that shows the location of symbols. The symbols are all audio equipment in a rack, and the locations are rack spaces (rectangles, each having a specific name) As symbols are shuffled, I would want the spreadsheet to show the location. I can use LOC as a boolean to see if the symbol is in a location LOC="Rack1U1" but how do I find the name of the location?
  15. One of the architects I work with wants all text to be in capitals. It would be nice if we could include capitalization in a text style, and it could be included in callouts, drawing labels, etc.
  16. I sent in a video. It happens when I delete a leader, then add a leader, and double click in the same place. If doesn't happen every time, but will crash by the 4th or 5th time, every time.
  17. I've found when I create a keynote and add a leader line, when I double click in the same place, (adding a leader on top of itself) vwx will crash. This happens in both 2020 and 2021. Very annoying.
  18. Brilliant. Thank you. Is there any documentation for that? Or should I not bother making data tags if the syntax is going to change.
  19. Not quite sure how to use <ExprIfTrue>@"<Condition> : <ExprIfFalse>". in a data tag. I'm trying to make a tag that will look at the area of a rectangle, and if the area is over 100, will say "too large". I tried =IF((#AREA#>100), 'Too Large', 'Too small'), which will work in a worksheet, but not in a tag. What am I missing?
  20. Is there an easy way to apply labels to a schematic view? If I create a schematic view from a hanging position, the schematic view shows the position name. If i create it from a lighting pipe, or truss system, it won't show a name. I've tried using data tags, #Lighting Pipe#.#Name# doesn't work, and #NNA_SchematicViewObject#.#Name# gives a value of 0. Any suggestions?
  21. Why don't the instruments in schematic views show data visualization? It makes the schematic views a lot less useful.
  22. Adding the zero to 0.5 makes it work, but it still keeps the units as square feet. Using VALUE(#AREA#) returns VALUE(150 sq ft). It works in the report, but not in the tag
  23. I'm not having success. I tried to calculate cost of sheet goods, where is would show #Area# *.5 (for 50 cents a square foot), the data tag shows '150 sq ft * .5' without doing the math
  24. Edit the wall style, and in the Insertion Options change the Top Bound to Layer Wall Height, and Bottom Bound to Layer elevation. If the wall is unstyled, you can change the settings in the OIP
  25. Ok, I understand how walls can change their appearance in viewports based on the detail level, but how does one assign detail levels to components? Where is it set that low detail level shows only the wall borders, but medium and high show all the components? Can this be changed?
