  1. Can we please please have the centre point of Plant Symbols be the same as the insertion point of the symbols they were created from? When you have an assymetrical symbol it doesn't make sense in the way they are place, and the location of the plant tag looks totally weird. To see what I mean take a look at the attached made up example.
  2. Yes I agree - it would be nice to have a curve object that is distinct from a polyline
  3. Just found the answer to this one - they take on the fill attributes of the class the Plant Tags are assigned to.
  4. Being able to create new hardscapes from saved hardscapes only gets half the job done. We also need an efficient method of applying saved hardscapes to already existing hardscape objects. As far as I can tell, there is currently no way of doing that.
  5. Using the 2D selection tool, it would be fantastic to be able to edit the size of a rectangle by keying in a distance (ie L=xx) in the data bar. Sure, you can edit the size of the rectangle in the OIP, but often you need to change it by a known distance, so you have to calculate the new size, make sure you have the right vertex/control point selected, and then key it in - being able to select a vertex of the rectangle and key in the distance change would be a lot simpler.
  6. Hi Raymond, Thanks for your fill-in detail on Bezier curves!! I am actually not used to creating and editing Bezier curves at all, I usually get extremely frustrated with them in programs like Freehand and Illustrator. I am much more used to creating and editing B-spline curves with control points in Microstation which is incredibly quick and easy to achieve a good looking curve. I am very glad to see that at least one can create a proper loop with the Cubic Spline mode.
  7. No the Bezier curve is a different sort of curve altogether. I'm not so great on my maths any more either, so I can't tell you all the technical ins and outs of different curve types. To put it simply, I think placing and editing by control points gives you a lot more control over the outcome of the line, and usually can end up defining the curve with less points than you would by using the Cubic Spline option. The different order b-splines just determines how close the curve follows the control polygon, and how many points as a minimum it needs to define it. To illustrate, I have attached a screen capture of some different order b-splines. The dashed lines indicate the control polygon and are normally turned off, while the dots at the vertices of that polygon are the control points and are where I clicked in the drawing to place the curve. HTH
  8. Thanks Hugues, I guess because you can't zoom on the worksheet, I couldn't see the difference and thus didn't think it was happening.
  9. Pat, the more is just what I said, being able to place and modify a b-spline polyline by its control points, not by points on the line as it is with the cubic spline mode. Being able to define the "order" of the b-spline eg 3rd, 4th, 5th order etc. Bruce I like your idea too.
  10. How about some proper B-spline curve ability in the Polyline tool? eg placing the curve by control points, and being able to edit by control points also, just for a start.
  11. Can we please have the ability to set a background fill for Plant Tags.
  12. Is there any way to custom define the length of the Plant Tag leader? As in the attached image. Thanks
  13. Andrew I've sussed out more on when it goes blank. It happens when I've already created the plant with the custom schema, then go and edit the plant again, changing one of the values on the Default Prefs tab, say the Placement Spacing. As soon as I hit OK, I end up with a blank Tag and have to go back in and recreate it.
  14. It seems that when I have edited the line thickness of any class to be one of the "defined" thicknesses, I cannot then change it to be anything BUT one of the defined thicknesses. Using the Set Thickness lets me change it, but as soon as I OK it, nothing happens, my thickness for that class stays the same. Is this how it's meant to be?
  15. Apart from a full reworking of worksheets so they're more usable, can we please have the ability to set different thicknesses to each edge of a cell border.
  16. When changing the gradient fill of an object from one gradient to another, why aren't the gradient settings retained? ie type(linear, radial etc) XY coordinates, and length! It's so annoying!
  17. Move to Australia and get the VAA Titleblock tools from Ozcad
  18. On the topic of greyed classes, I referenced in the architect's file as a Design Layer viewport, into its own layer in my file. I set all the classes in the viewport to grey, and that worked fine for any design layer I was working in. But as soon as I created a viewport to use on my sheet layer, the grey overrides for the reference viewport disappeared - totally useless for printing. Is this the way VW2008 is supposed to work or is it a bug? Or am I missing something? I have resorted to using greyed layers but the problem with that is that it relies on the person printing to set the grey level correctly at print time - not 100% foolproof which it would be if only my grey overrides showed through in the sheet layer.
  19. I agree. So many things appear to have great potential, but when you actually get around to using them, there's this little thing, or that little thing, that makes the whole experience painful if not useless.
  20. This is a Windows problem, I'm guessing probably not on Mac. When you're using a tool that uses a pop-up window to select a resource, for example the hatch selection when creating a hardscape or plant selection, and there are enough symbols so that the top of the dialog hits the top of the screen, the pop-up doesn't stay open with a single click. To get it to stay open, I have to either click-drag the mouse to the band in the middle that says Default Content, then release, or click-drag to the scroll bar on the far right side. I say it's something to do with this pop-up hitting the top of the screen because if you move the dialog to the bottom left of the screen and then click, it stays open no problems. Is anyone else seeing this?
  21. If more than one group of plants is selected, and I Replace Plants with it set to "Selected Plants Only", it still only replaces the first plant grouping in the selection set. If it says selected plants, it should replace all the selected plant groups, not just the first one.
  22. If I have a line of plants at say 700mm spacings and I decide to replace it with another plant with a defined spacing of 1000mm, why doesn't the spacing automatically adjust once the plant is replaced? It's rather silly to have to go in and adjust it manually.
  23. Can we please have the ability to change attributes of classes, layers etc directly from the Organization dialog rather than double-clicking or via the Edit button. Keep those methods, but add on the ability to just click on an attribute, say fill colour of a particular class, and the colour palette pops up to select a different one. And enable that to work for multiple selections of classes etc too.
  24. It does indicate it for me, from my custom palette - it really needs to bring the palette it's from to be the active palette though if another palette is actually showing.
